Took time to get in contact with conciliation officer. But after getting in contact officer was very good in explaining and providing service even though I did not have the outcome I was seeking but not this department fault it was dealer that needs to be taught a lesson in the court which is I am going for. Still thanks Cheryle for your service.

A potentially fatal product fault that needs an urgent public announcement. Ths mob have had the info for weeks and promised to provide a liaison with ACCC. Then they went on holiday having done nothing!

This review is about an organisation that purports to help readers or clients search and compare for the best healthcare coverage.

They advertise in the platform of “starts at 60”, I am over 60 and have used this seemingly false offering with no result.

I filled out the obtain a quote form and having given my private data, the insurance compare people then say we will get in touch and they never do!

Consumer Affairs and protection, please stop such organisations from misleading the general public. I wrote 3 times to starts at 60 to draw their attention, they just ignored my messages.

My gf and I stayed at perth worst hotel Inner City Apartments I booked for 7 days and stayed 1 night and wont give me a refund. They say non refundable even though it rated Perth's worst hotel
Can't consumer protection do anything about this misleading place.

Unfortunately, this service is only as helpful as the person who takes your call. I’ve had fabulous advice in the past but today’s poor, disinterested customer service given by the young lady who took my call was disappointing.

Ironic because terrible customer service is what my query was about in the first place.

Thank you DMIRS and Marion for helping me to resolve my ongoing case with a debt collector.
I would highly recommend everyone communicate with DMIRS if needed. It might take some time for them to resolve complex issues, but eventually, you will receive the support you have been looking for.

Your responders should really speak English as a native language. The lady I spoke to constantly misheard and misunderstood me. Given that complaints are often highly technical and stressful, it is ridiculous to hire someone who has limited English.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME USING CONSUMER!

Got a response near 2 months later only to have someone who didn’t understand and seemed to skim read through the complaint and the desired outcome but failed to get a outcome suited to both parties and wasted my time.
The caseworker did not read my complaint properly and made the whole situation worse, misinformed the merchant about the outcome I wanted and information.
Protected the merchant the whole time and she was not on my side and she allowed illegal activity across the merchant and their third parties go by even when aware of fraudulent activity she would say “oh that’s so cheeky of them, so sneaky” no that’s illegal.
I explained many times when I could get a word in and she still couldn’t understand. She also only sided with the merchants offers that suited them so I closed the case and handle it myself and got the outcome I wanted.

Only use the name consumer protection when talking to merchants as actually using them is a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME.

Trader Protection is a much better name, more accurate!

Apart from a 10-minute wait on the phone, I found the staff, advice and explanation, to be excellent!

What an utterly USELESS organisation.
Waited many weeks to be contacted by Consumer Protection only to be told can't offer any resolution at all. Couldn't even achieve any sort of compromise between seller and consumer. Unimpressed with lack of effort 'advocating' for the consumer to get any result. The only 'service' (*cough cough) provided was to repeatedly tell me to go to Magistrates Court. The whole point of CP is to mediate these disputes to get a resolution so that it does NOT have to use court resources. Even a simple dispute about a faulty product is all too hard for this incompetent organisation. Don't waste your time.

Had a call from a scammer, where it was a Victorian number pre recorded claiming suspicious illegal activity on my bank account and asking to press a button for contact. I hung up and reported it to Mary at Consumer Protection, service was professional, knowlegeable and very friendly. 1st rate

These people don't have a clue what they are doing. Completely uneducated and don't seem to understand changes within a complaint. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Just go to the source. IT WILL SAVE YOU THE TIME AND HEADACHE IN SEEKING OUT HELP FROM THEM WHEN THEY CAN'T EVEN HELP THEMSELVES. POOR POOR POOR POOR POOR POOR POOR SERVICE.

Called to get advice before sending out a statement to our customers to make sure we were doing the right thing, as it's a brave new world of cancellations under Covid-19. We followed their advice exactly and then a month later got an email saying they had received complaints about how we handled it. WHEN WE LITERALLY DID WHAT THEY SAID? What a joke.

They don't know the law. They actually told me manufacturers warranty supersedes Australian Consumer Law. False!

I am leaving this review because I don't like seeing poor reviews which have no real substance, (or facts) and represent no more than personal venting.
I had dealings with Consumer Protection over a period of two years, with respect to a tree lopping service not acting within the rules of the law when quoting a job.
Although I managed to get my payment refunded directly through my Visa card, the team at Consumer Protection took on the case based on unlawful actions by the service provider.
They had previous complaints about the same tree lopping service provider and wanted to stop this company from repeating their unacceptable business practices.
All they asked of me was to appear at court as a witness, and provide factual details of my experience.
The initial Magistrate's Court case against the tree lopper didn't stand, but Consumer Protection department believed that a law was broken and so decided to appeal against the Magistrates Court ruling - their appeal was won, and a legal precedent established.
To me, this is testimony to the fact that if a law is broken by a trader, Consumer Protection does indeed help the consumer - but the consumer does have a responsibility to provide clear evidence of facts.
Without facts, or evidence that a law was broken, we can't really expect them to do any more than negotiate a compromise.

Zero stars, complete waste of time reporting your complaint to these people. They could not care less if you have been ripped off by a retailer hundreds of dollars. I was sold a dodgy security door that does not even close. Its not like it was a toaster or something lame, its a product I rely on to protect. They did not send the complaint form after 2 calls and spent 2 hours on hold on Friday calling for the third time. Forth time I just get a busy tone now. To all the people reading this I would not bother trying to resolve it by calling these people. I recommend you take the law into your own hands and use you imagination instead. After all.as Justin Timberlake says.what goes around, comes around.

As long as unsupervised, lazy, employees with no commitment to work and in addition sadly with tendency to lie (like Helen Hart and Margaret Pinkus) are employed in Consumer Protection, far long dodgy businesses in Australia will thrive and flourish keeping customers to be ripped off from their money with no consequences at all.

If no significant change in the department is going to be introduced very soon, keeping positions there (paying wages to employees for their poor job performance) will continue to be a total waste of taxpayers' money!

Dodgy businesses though can be for sure quite positive, optimistic, and very happy to keep the things in the Department as they are NOW, while many WA customers (incl me) are feeling very disappointed with Consumer protection workers job performance and my time to help (not myself but thousands of WA consumers mainly) unfortunately wasted. Shame!

What a waste of space Pearl Wilson.
I contacted ConsPro about a scam Woolworths email and I get a prompt for my credit card details to pay for a legal opinion.
What a joke, ConsPro are no better than the scammer.

I was having difficulties getting a refund from an overseas airline that cancelled my flights due to the Wuhan Virus. They had given me a case number; said it might take a few days. Months later and after numerous failures from them to respond to my messages I got in touch with Consumer Protection.
Well done Linda and Jessica! Within 3 weeks my refund was credited to my Account. Good Work!

Originally spoke to an officer in perth who seemed very informative.sent my file into bunbury office; however, it took months to get a reply and when i did it was hopeless and had nothing to do with the query i posed.the person, annetta even managed to get my name transposed with the defendant's surname! I didn't bother ringing the latter person back after her response (which apparently she'd got from someone else). However, did think to re-ring perth office who again seemed far more knowledgeable and put me on to legal aid who got back to me a couple of weeks later.thank you perth office you need 5 stars! The two missing are somewhere floating above bunbury!
