Been a client there for at least 4 years, never had issues, but last time (in June) I was treated really badly by a young lady. She was nothing but hostile. Nonetheless, I bought 2 Pol 3/4 Australops, who smelled really bad. I thought they were just dirty, but they appeared to be sick with respiratory infection. Not going back there ever again.

I am quite devastated as our fist little chook we bought from this place and was looked after really well ended up having Marek's disease after 10 weeks. I would never enter this place again as this disease is terrible to see on your chook. We ended up seeing a Vet who did diagnose it with possible Marek's disease as the chook was paralized. So sad and it did turn me off having chooks. Yes, the place is cramped and I do believe infection could easily start there. I won't post a pic of the chook it is too sad.

Bought 3 x 6 week old healthy cross breed layer chicks for my backyard. Staff were very helpful and nice. Highly recommend their 'Comps chick starter' and 'Comps Breeder mix' feeds as they're much better quality and higher protein than what you get in commercial brand feeds. My chickens go crazy over it!

We brought back our rooster (purchased as a chick from Comps Midland around a year ago) per their return policy, only to be told it wasn’t one of theirs due to not having been toe tagged and further that “they don’t even sell that breed here”? A 3/4 leghorn? Which is what we were told it was by them and which is definitely sold there. The rooster was then killed immediately due to them not accepting it as one of theirs (which it was). It is not our fault that by your own negligence he was not tagged as a chick, there was absolutely no need to be so nasty about the whole situation either.

Super impressed with the care and advice from Liz and the team at Comp’s. Very professional and understanding of our situation. I thought that I had a good handle on care for chicks, but after discussion with these guys I learned so much more. Really appreciate the advice.

I brought 5 chick's from comps and all 5 died within the first few days, most of their chick's are sick and don't recommend buying chickens from here

Bought a 3/4 Leghorn and 3/4 Australorp and was told they are the best layers. Despite being in their second season and should be in their prime, and given premium high protein food, between them they barely lay 3 or 4 eggs a week. Hardly covers the cost of the feed. They otherwise look plump and healthy.

I never expected these to lay as much as ISA browns we had before. Also the leghorn is very skittish not friendly as described but that’s a minor issue.

I wish I could give zero stars…
I can’t encourage others more strongly not to buy from Comps. We bought 9 chicks from them and 5/9 have either died or had a serious health problem emerge in the first day or two of having them home (serious feather loss noticed on arrival at home on one, eye infection/tumour, hip dysplasia etc) I also hatched my own chicks at the same time which have been very healthy. When we spoke to the lady at Comps about returning sick chicks she did not take any ownership and failed to listen to any of our descriptions of our setup (talked over me the whole conversation and was generally very disrespectful) and blamed all of these problems on “lack of care” despite us consulting with a professional chick breeder for the whole process. I would never consider buying from Comps again and have heard 2 other stories of experiences like this. Please learn from my mistake!

Staff are shockingly unknowledgeable and uncaring of the health of their birds. They didn’t have any of the stock initially promised and had a lot of the birds in crowded + conditions.

Staff gave me blatant misinformation and had me buy products entirely unsuitable which led to the death of one of my chicks.

HIGHLY recommend to give your business elsewhere and don’t support irresponsible selling.

Sold us chickens as good layers.after months of feeding and looking after they have turned out to be roosters. Comps said they would take them back for free but would not replace them or return our money.will never go back to buy anything from Comps. Buyers beware.

Amazing place. If you keep chooks you need to visit this shop. The in-depth level of knowledge about keeping poultry at home is incredible. And so many awesome breeds of chickens you've never even heard of!
