Cockburn Senior's Centre reviews
13Excellent friendly people and brilliant centre for members. Fantastic activities and cafe. Something for everyone
Im an aged care support worker and I called in here during a social support service with a senior citizen who is 89yrs old, thinking it was a drop in centre and we got turned away because we were not from Cockburn we were from Rockingham. I begged the lady at the desk to let me and my senior in. We only wanted to buy a coffee, and she repeatedly said no. I am very disappointed about that because my senior is an ex Merchant Navalman who used to work and live in Freo a while back, but I didn't want to get into details with her. Oh, and we would have PAID to have a sit-down coffee. What's the world coming to and don't comment about rates, or is it's not a drop-in centre because I heard that from the snobby lady at the desk. After her continuous decline to let us in, she said, " I hear the Autumn Centre in Rockingham is nice. " In a nasty tone. Wow, we know that, but we wanted a change of scenery, and it's a precious day out for my 89-year-old mobile and witty senior.
Fabulous well kept place with lovely staff who do an amazing job. The members are so happy. As an aged care support worker, I highly recommend this place
I was very lucky to be invited to the Cockburn Seniors Centre Melbourne Cup lunch and celebration. Very well organised and an immense amount of work went into making the day special for the senior residents of cockburn. As a food person I have to put a spotlight on the fantastic meal we ate. The entree which I thought was a main had ample fresh prawns in a salad in a bed of creamy avocado on a crispy thin vessel.followed with a chicken schnitzel the size of a dinner plate with herbed potato, carrots and a crunchy apple, fennel and herb salad. I saw desert was a rich chocolate brownie with an orange side and no doubt a dollop of cream but this would have to confirmed as I had to head back to work. Thank you to the volunteers, staff and kitchen crew who made this all happen and make a wonderful day for all the seniors who attended. This is only one event of so many run during the year and there are an abundance of activities on all week.
The staff and volunteers are amazing people. So lovely and friendly. Helped my mom settle in and feel at home.
Amazing centre
Friendly and helpful staff, always with a smile and great place to meet people. Really take care of Senior's needs and interests, keep up the good work!
They were very helpful & we had our lunch there & it was very enjoyable. We are going to join soon.
Great to keep social ties with friends. Many interesting classes and events. Very inclusive of all cultures. Friendly, clean, modern and stylish rooms. Memberships available. Dine at the Centre for lunches or meet friends for coffee. TV lounge and pool table available for patrons of the Senior Centre. All are warmly welcomed. Support group for Carers meeting monthly. Helpful advice about accessing resources available.
Fantastic activities at affordable prices. A wide range of classes and hobbies are offered with helpful people more than willing to teach you. EVERYTHING you can think of is on offer and staff are warm, helpful and obliging. Meals are fantastic value and flavour and social events and outings are outstanding in both value and fun. Many thanks to Cockburn City Council and all staff.
This place is excellent! Such friendly, welcoming people a warm inviting please to be. I went there to collect some information on volunteering that I could do, and was given a full tour and an interview with an already very busy staff member who was so kind to make time for me.
I unfortunately have become too ill to get back but I recommend this lovely and lively centre to all seniors and all who care about them and the area. They are so wonderful there. I cannot thank them enough. Visit them and you will find a wonderful place to be.)
This looks like a very well run place for seniors to come and enjoy a very wide variety of activities, outings and as a general meeting place.
It has great staff, friendly atmosphere, lovely meals, varied outings, and lots of activities to try, from quite physical to the more sedentry if you prefer. A terrific place for the over 50's.
