City of Perth Library and History Centre

My favorite library in perth, better than the state library near the train station. If I have too much stuff for heavy study session, ill go to the state one but this cozy architectural masterpiece library has a great selection of books i can borrow. Friendly staff as well.

Great place to learn, enjoy tons of books and also do some tutoring. They have segregated the floors for different age groups, and the 4th floor is the children's floor.

What an amazing space for reading. A great place to visit when a tourist in this city. Unique design and architect. Exquisite

Service desk is immensely helpful. Nice place to sit and relax with a dear title. Coffee shop is rightly placed. Great ambience of the Library.

Perfect for doing a few hours of work during a lay over before my next flight. Free WiFi, comfortable seat, and pretty quiet. But yes.you can't eat in the library!

Great selection of books and facilities. The building is beautiful and functional, as well each floor is tailored and useful. Using the services is easy and quick, the staff are also very nice.

Very bad experience. I came from melbourne to visit Perth. I came here to this library to relax and read some books. I went up to level 5. And sit there for a while. The guy came to me and rudely said to leave. I said why should i leave. He replied back “ i look older then 25” when i told him i am 22 years old but he refused to listen then i showed my id card and he left with no answer and allowed me to sit there. After while i thought lets use ps4 and i went to him and asked for ps4 he replied “all ps4 are broken and not working”. Extreme racism.
Because i am brown i have not rights to use library

The funny part is after while i saw white boy was playing game on same broken not working ps4.

Never ever i will come to perth library

Its an absolutely beautiful library with a brilliant range of books. Though most of the staff are friendly i had a bad encounter with the woman who was in charge of the study room hire on the last level (the young adult level). I was curious on how to book a room and so I went up to her and asked her on how it would work. She told me that she could book me in with her computer I was standing right next to her so i looked at her screen and said “Ohh i see, so you would just book me a time slot here. ” She immediately shoved her screen the other side and said “ this is my computer you could go look at your own computer “ in the rudest tone. I was honestly baffled. I just walked back to my seat because I work in customer service as well and was surprised to receive such a treatment.

The library is CRAZY precious about its book covers. If you crease the corner or create anything they will charge you what the book is worth. I was forced to pay $23.40 for the book because the corners of the book got folded from being in my bag. The books reading material was not effected and could be used again multiple times over. When I asked if they would give it to charity they said their charity store couldn't sell it on which I said but you can read it! I'm actually horrified they would just discard a book based on its cover and not even send it to a charity store. I will not be borrowing physical books from there again, I'd rather go to a library with loved books or a charity store.

A beautiful library! Staff are friendly and accomodating. However, an old lady who is a cleaner has been rude to me few times over.

Beautifully designed building that makes for a very peaceful and enjoyable environment. The different areas and layouts are perfect for adults and children of all ages. Great library resources and all free.

Update: Four Years Later - Excellent Library. The staff are so very helpful; as are the security. Wonderful addition to Perth City & Top Shelf Architecture.

They need to have a library card that you can add credit to so when you use the computers that you can use your library card to pay for printing and photo copying. Not using your ATM card. Apart from that I love the new look.

Love the building, has great children and young adults area as well as the main reading hall.

I love the perth libary. Not only for their book's. But a great place to meet family & friends. Or just to take some quiet time for yourself.

Great library in a beautiful building. Always plenty of seats available, wifi is good enough and there are plenty of plugs to charge your devices.
It's a well looked after library always clean and quiet that I can't recommend it enough

Alls i can say is don’t go close to closing time!

Damien i think his name badge read! Was so rude! I literally had 20 pages to scan to my email and you’d think i just ruined his entire year!

The last time i went to a libary would have been when i was around 7 years old! I’m now 32 and alls i can say is first and last time i’ll be stopping foot in that place!

Other members of staff seemed quite pleasant/ helpful! Shame the one individual ruined my visit.

This library is well equipped with variety of books as well as computer workstations if anyone needs them for study. Low prices print and scan options available as well. You can borrow DVD titles from this library as well. There are kids and infants section as well a small indoor play area for toddlers. All in all this place is a must visit for book lovers.
