Great school but the deteriorating assembly roof and falling dust breathed in by the children will be can.cer causing.

My sport teacher is so nice and fun and is an amazing teacher. She really helped me enjoy sport more even though I am not great at sport.

I'm going to this school soon, because I'm moving to Perth. Does anybody know what the shortened form of the school's name is? Is it CBC, CBCH? Anyways, I can't wait to start going here and have a tour: D

As a student going into year 12 in 2020, I can safely say that this is an incredible school for most kids. It is a school that values individuality and helps students the best in facing challenges in life after university through many programs. The science department is what I would say, one of the best in our state. Our English department constantly runs courses and events to motivate students and the teachers in the humanities and sport department are super friendly and are incredible and funny teachers. There has been absolutely been no bullying in my years at this school and while there is an evident popular and unpopular divide, the people considered "unpopular" are largely involved and do not face any more challenges at school than the rest of us. However, no school is perfect. Carey Baptist is an extremely strict school with over the top rules. Just having 1/12 of your shirt untucked can land you a detention and it is an extremely strict school like that. After just 5 minor infractions (stages) a letter was sent home, mostly for getting to class 1-3 minutes late in the whole year. The uniform is also wildly expensive due to a private seller situation and is an incredible burden for some families. The quality of the uniform is also ridiculous, students are unable to comfortable learn with smelly blazers and itchy pants and choking ties. The school also pays far too much attention to jazz and all students can agree when I say that we can feel the extra attention granted to music students over the non-music students even though they only make up less than 20% of our school. Many of the awards are music based and students can feel the additional privilege given to music students within the school. The school also has no canteen which for a private school, should be widely available. Another important thing is academics. Carey is not an academically driven school. When I came in year 7, this school was in the top 20 but has since slipped into the top 70-80 positions and you can feel the difference in education. The maths department is what I consider, the weakest department and could do with some new staff. The music department is supposed to be one of the best in the state but that is no excuse for allocating far too much attention to music when other extracurriculars such as dance are doing an incredible job without receiving much recognition. Students also cram often due to a relatively higher than average amount of homework that students must complete. There are multiple times in which there were 5 or 6 assignments pending which were due in one week with the addition of studying for tests that week. These are all critical points but these are small infractions compared to what Carey is best at doing, preparing students for the real world. I feel like a lot of schools do extremely bad at informing kids of life after highschool and uni but Carey has ensured that through events such as B&V day and hundreds more that children are mentally prepared to face the world which is a greater gift than education can ever give you. Carey might not be the most academically gifted and the teachers might not be the absolute smartest but the teachers are like your friends at this school, you can joke around and discuss topics openly without any worry of being discriminated or bullied. This is an incredible community based school and I would send my children here if I had children so that their lives aren't totally centered around education but rather preparing them for leadership and A life outside of this.

They have seqta engage for parents to be able to know the kids upvoming homework and upcoming tests, and see the test marks out of the average class marks and mathspace for kids to learn math with hints or tutorial videos. Teachers are nice there, kids are very polite and nice characters. It's just the national rank for Carey has decreased. But overall it's a good experience for the kid's learning process. It's a privilege to be there with teachers who are passionate and smart. Thry also have homework clubs twice a week. And my kid suddenly can play piano and trombone which is great. Lol.

Studied there for a very long time ago. Nice people. One thing that I disappointed, there was no celebration of cultural harmony days conducted by Senior school. Primary school department has done a wonderful job for promoting multiculturism as the students and staff were dressing up with their traditional countries outfit. I witnessed the primary students proposed to the Senior principal for celebrating multicultural day, so Senior students could be participated. Unfortunately the senior principal ignored them. Also, they offered a registration entry for early school for my young child while I visited my friend who is working at that school. I replied 'No thank you, ' I had registered my young child to a public school already. Why? I'd like my child be able to make friends from different background, different religious, and also my child can learn many things without any restrictions. As long as she is learning and doing the right thing. I still doubt about cultural and religious tolerance at that school.

Very positive experience for my child. States that she feels cared for by staff. Has developed a strong set of values and beliefs and empathy for others. Came from a very different school environment previously and she states that she feels valued by staff at Carey and has a great group of peers. I would highly recommend this school

Have had 2 children go through the state system and wasn't impressed. My 3rd child is in Kindy and the difference is amazing. The teachers are fabulous and have a love for their job and the children they teach. The atmosphere of the school is so friendly with both parents and teachers alike. I love the way that they teach the children negotiation skills and unkind behaviour is just not tolerated, and parents input is taken seriously. I could not be happier that my 2 younger children will be attending this school, where I feel they will recieve a fantastic education and skills to be considerate caring people.
