Canteen Trigg reviews
41$13.50 for service station quality sausage roll and coconut water for take away. I used to love this place but the menu doesn't seem to change and it's extortion prices for below standard food.
After enjoying a beach walk, we sought a coffee and a tasty meal. Regrettably, all the food, including the hot chips, tasted cold and unappetizing, possibly due to being left in the warmer for too long. Additionally, the service was notably unfriendly. We typically don't complain, but this experience fell far below our expectations. We won't be recommending or returning.
Have spent 3-4 years walking along the path on West Coast Dr, and I always make sure to stop in for a coffee or to grab something to eat. It is one of my go to spots when I meet new people, or catch up with family and friends. Service is always friendly and fast, the food is delicious (my fav is the katsu chicken burger with chips!) and the alternative milks make ordering and having a coffee or milkshake a dream. Will forever be my fav!
View and surroundings are beautiful but i expect at last to be looked at when ordering and when i pay and a thank you goes a long way! This goes across the board for most arrogant wannabe supermodels behind the counter, remember we are a customer you provide a service too and do it with a smile or go and do something else, BTW i frequently come here but now feel it needs to be said! I am sure if the owners of this place get the same treatment heads will roll.
One of the most expensive smoothie bowls I’ve ever eaten, it’s not bad, but the peanut butter they use is probably the cheapest one they could possibly find. Tastes disgusting
Unpretentious coffee-making that's top quality and served quickly. Food is served quickly without compromising quality.
Really good food and coffee at a good price - best place to get some fish and chips and sit by the sea
Great spot on the ocean. Super busy but fast service. The menu is varied and staff friendly. Alcohol can be purchased from island market next door.
Good coffee and very good service but the food I had was overpriced and overcooked. Bacon & egg roll.
Favourite spot by the beach with nice food but dear god please train your staff how to make proper coffee. The coffee here is terrible - milk is scolding hot/burnt, weak coffee unless asked for double strength.
Not your usual takeaway. Food is fresh, varied, full of veges and absolutely delicious. Totally recommend as an alternative to the usual burger or pizza takeaway nights
We sat outside, gorgeous sunny day, great location.nice staff, we ordered chicken wrap and cheese salad wrap with mayo, tbh both very ordinary no real taste in either.
Great coffee spot right on the beach. Insanely busy most times but the service is great and the wait times are pretty reasonable. Food looked awesome but we just had coffees there
This place was somewhere i always wanted to try. Cold flavourless food which when you get it to the table you are almost instantly disappointed with the thick glugy batter and cheap cold chips was once dish (please note not worded on the menu in such a way). Nice place to walk past and enjoy the beautiful stretch of coast. Certainly will never make the mistake of eating here again.
Was driving along the coast line in Trigg and saw this building with the word CANTEEN written on it. Had to check it out. The ambiance is spot on for the beach. Tried the Tuna Poke, carrot cake and cup of long macchiato topped up to half cup. Anyone expecting the usual Poke bowl will be disappointed, well Don’t. It was really nice and a very good fusion take of a traditional dish. Kudos to the chef. The carrot cake was very good although I believe it was not baked in-house but that’s ok. They have a good supplier. As for the coffee it’s from 5-Senses, can’t go wrong there, however I asked for half cup top up only but got a full cup. That’s the only reason for a 4-star rating. Getting the order right is just as important as good food and ambiance. It’s good that they served the food and drinks in paper cups and box and wooden cutlery. Environmental friendly
Food is great! Coffee can be up and down, Make sure you ask them to remake if you’re unhappy (too hot/ too milky etc)
It was pretty busy when we were there. Took a few minutes to get a table as they were all full.
Food was nice and not bad priced.
Great Cafe.becoming a regular here. Plenty parking. Food is awesome so are the drinks. You have to dry your pallet. Customer service is very good too. Next visit will take photos.
Food is good but where it falls down is how to eat the food. They provide poorly made recycled knives and forks. The forks break and I gave up trying to cut a piece of toast, had to use my fingers in the end. I understand they are probably trying to be seen to being a "green" cafe, but, there is a limit to everything and when you pay good money for food, you don't expect to be using your fingers because the "cutlery" doesn't cut it, literally.
Came into this lovely looking cafe for a coffee after a rough night and was treated as if I was unwanted in the cafe by the cashier/barista with black hair. I was nothing but friendly but was given a short, blunt response without a trace of a smile. As a cafe barista myself - A friendly attitude is so important for the face of your cafe. Coffee was okay but overpriced.
