Cafe Rasa Sayang reviews
50Malaysian/Indian food as it should be. The smells coming out of the kitchen. Wow. Just like being in KL. The murtabak was excellent.
If you are looking for an authentic Malaysian experience, please visit this cosy little spot at Spencer Village. The vadai gets sold out by 10am! The roti canai gets sold out by 2pm! I have yet to try these two. However, I have tried the rice with vegetables, dhal, fried mackerel, tofu and egg and mutton. It was awesome. Teh tarik is a must have! Great hospitality and very welcoming. Patrons seen to have very close bond with this place. I am beginning to think that this is going to be a start of a love story. Highly recommended for Malaysian food lovers!
Managed to finally get the crispy roti canai in this cafe. So yummy! The curries were flavourful and well balanced. The lentils were a little bland. Lacked salt. But the fish and chicken curries were beautiful. The roti canais were crispy and cooked to perfection
The best malaysian-south Indian fusion food. Spicy and tasty with a good variety of meats at a reasonable price.
Very delicious Southern indian Malay curry. Great if your a spice lover. However wish they would have price lists and what curries will be on what day. As I wouldn't mind trying their different curries.
Portions are very generous will definitely be back Goat curry and chicken curry were the bomb.
If I could give MINUS 5 STAR, that's what I would have gone for. The shop is extremely small for the customer traffic. The young girl at the counter is so slow in taking orders and misses orders. My wife and I ordered 1teh tarik, 1hot milo, 1rava thosai & 1roti canai. It took them 25minutes to deliver my teh tarik and missed the Milo order. The roti canai came 35minutes later. The chicken curry is pretty much filled with coconut milk. Milo pretty much did not come. My thosai came an hour after, burnt and tasted like cardboard. Payment using card comes with surcharges. Food is not that great and definitely not worth the wait or the price hands down. The messed up part is you need to pay right after you order which makes it completely impossible to leave if you are starving and need to get to another place in a hurry. You call this a Malaysian restaurant but delivering the drinks that late is unacceptable. Food maybe to a certain extent is acceptable with what ever the excuse is but man definitely not worth the penny and time. Would not recommend this. Might as well eat in Spencer Village.
Got the Milo in a takeaway cup after waiting 70minutes in the shop. Disaster!
Picture shows what I got 50 minutes later.
Food was very nice and plenty of it. Young lady was very pleasant, serving and cleaning up our table.
Been here several times before and always left satisfied. Had 2 x Roti Canai. I watched the lady roll out the roti and cook fresh, and the star for me was the chicken curry gravy. Full of big flavours and not watered down like Suzie's Prata House.
Also ordered mutton varuval, lamb curry, with rice and some chinese vege. Absolutely bang on delicious. Lady even gave me couple free pappadams
Had lunch here after a fairly long break but a craving for roti pratha reminded me of this cafe. Place is still as run down as before. Goat curry is nice but more bones than meat - I guess it's luck of the draw here. Briani rice is average compared to what I have eaten recently - a bit overcooked and under seasoned.
The main disappointment was the pratha which was slightly doughy for both the plain and egg versions; neither crispy or pliable so had to fight with it somewhat. The sauces that came with them were uninspiring; watery and lacking flavour. Didn't try the murtabak which my good friend loves from this cafe so I suggest you order this instead of the pratha.
Teh tarik was good but overly sweet for my taste.
I have to look for an alternative eatery to crush my pratha craving!
This venue is very poor in operation times. I literally drop by a few times and they were closed but according to their operation hour the supposed to be open.
Today I'm at the restaurant at 850am and they supposed to open at 9 am.still closed. God knows why.a few customers also very disappointed
Excellent food-Choice of white or Briyani rice with 3 vegetables and serve of non veg either, chicken, lamb or fish with papadom’s and pickles. Reasonably priced with more than eatable portion. The tarik is uncle’s signature drink Roti canai is amazing. Nasi Lemak on weekends only. Our favourite place ️
Been coming here for years and it never disappoints. Hands down best Malaysian/Indian in Perth!
Best dhosa especially the onion and egg, ask for a few drops of ghee, and ask the expert dhosa maker aka Phav to make it crispy.
Not a friendly place unless you are Asian or indian, the Asian girl was counting the bits of lamb curry she was serving on the plate, tiny serves from last time I visited there, watch the owner he charged me $1 extra than when I was there a week before on the sly, thinks because you European you won't notice.
$1 has cost you potentially hundreds of dollars worth of business, foolish tactics!
Very authentic Malay Indian restaurant, really enjoyed the Murtabak Special with eggs, onion and chicken mince, served with curry dipping sauce, very nice curry sauce. Fish tasted good and friendly services.
Food is alright. Enjoyed the rice with fish and curry very much, the first time. Place could be cleaner. Cups for drinking water need change. A more friendly service would be nice though. Doesn't have the "want to go back" factor
This is a small cafe (Kedai) selling Malaysian food.
It is very authentic and the aroma is so very reminiscence of food shops of Malaysia.
The only complaint I have and always had is this new server there kept pushing you to decide what you wanted to eat from the glass servery. She was very pushy. A customer has to see the curries etc to decide and not select something because of the pushyness from the server. Example, if a small serve of Biryani or plain rice was requested, by the time your plate was filled you ended up with a large meal instead of a small one. So be forewarned.
The Biryani was Malaysian style minus the meat. One had to choose what curry you wanted with it. Unlike the Indian Biryani where rice and meat was cooked together.
There were many other Indian snacks, like vadai and Malaysian Meehoon as well.
I like the food very much.
Price wise it depends on small or big serve. But I don't think it will cost more than $15.
I was treated to lunch here so can only guess from past experience.
I am not sure if the vadai was only sold on weekends as part of breakfast. Pays to check.
Overall, an enjoyable meal.
There are some outside seating as well.
Slackening lately as items usually accompanying standard meals were absent and my plate of goat curry comprised mainly bones with hardly any meat.
The teste of food awesome, price are very reasonable, very good customer service, my favorite restaurant in pert
Food was pretty nice & authentic.
Roti was a bit chewy & Teh Tarik was too sweet to my liking. The cafe is a bit grubby & high chairs needs to be replaced as there were broken ones there.
Been to this place many times but was very surprised in my visit today that the quantity has shrinked. Takeaways are even worst. I am disgusted and will not visit this place any more.
