Broome and Beyond Camper Hire

We rent a Toyota Hilux with twin RTT from Broome & Beyond in December 2023. From the very beginning of the rental procedure Brendan and Tracey have been extremely friendly and helpful, giving us plenty of suggestions and advices.
We were provided with all the items we could need during our trip. The vehicle and all the material was in excellent conditions, so that we could relax and enjoy the holidays.

What an epic WA trip! Our family (2 adults and one child) hired a Trayon 4WD camper from Broome & Beyond, for 7 weeks. From the very start Brendan and Tracey were responsive and helpful. When we picked the camper up they gave us an extensive training session, including 4WDing advice and how to set up the camper (so good to have a rental that you can go 4WDing with!). The camper came with everything we needed - cutlery, pots+pans, bedding, emergency locator, a handheld CB radio, tyre deflator+pump, plus much more. The camper had a solar panel on the roof, combined with a dedicated battery, which powered the fridge, lights, and even USB charging points. We ordered a cassette toilet (extra) so we could be totally off-grid. Brendan and Tracey were responsive through Whatsapp, email, and SMS. When we had a minor mishap with damage to the camper Brendan organised a fix right away, in the town we were staying. Brendan is a legend, really knows his stuff! We couldn't be happier with the service and vehicle we had from Broome & Beyond - recommend 100% - wish we were still travelling around in it:)

My husband and I hired a 4WD camper from Brendan for our trip around the gold mining area. We were so impressed with the vehicle, which turned out to be brand new. It was kitted out with everything you would need for such a trip. The service and information provided was excellent, which was a great help to us. This is by far the best hire company I’ve dealt with for real adventure. The Trayon system is really simple to use and allows for unlimited exploration of the top end and Kimberley. Tracey is an asset to the company who is helpful and knowledgeable. My family and I had a fantastic time and we will look to hire again for a similar adventure. The camper is suitable for two adults and my 6 year old daughter. We had the fortune of experiencing some very remote areas with this setup without a care in the world. Totally disconnected from the world.

My husband & I, both seniors, hired a Hilux dual cab with rooftop tent & Trayon for 3 weeks to do the Gibb River Rd. We found the company to be honest & helpful & the almost new vehicle was capable & well set up for the trip. Our experience was amazing & am already planning the next adventure & would not hesitate to use Broome & Beyond or WA Experts, as they're also known. We had travel insurance so took basic cover with this company which saved us money but with lots of side trips to gorges on non gazetted roads realised we had no cover on these tracks which we would have had with companies own insurance, so something to consider when booking. Also everything on trayon is quite high to reach, lights, see in fridge, so helpful to have some small folding steps with you. Thank you Broome & Beyond for your timely responses to all my emails, for the amazing, well set up & comfortable hire vehicle & tent, your helpful pleasant staff & for your rapid return of my bond, it was back in my account the following day. Advise to renters, respect what you've hired belongs to someone else & return in good clean condition.

We had an amazing time with the hilux/trayon camper. Everything was provided as we would have had if it were our own. We did the full broome to Kununurra Gibb river Rd down to Wolfe creek and back to broome. We had no problems with the car or any equipment.not even a flat tyre.

We hired a Toyota Hilux with a Trayon from Broome and beyond for 3 weeks in May. We had a great trip traveling from Broome to Darwin via the Gibb River Road. A real 4WD adventure! The combined car and camper was perfect - taking us everywhere we wanted to go. We felt well equipped and comfortable, and Brendan and Tracey were super helpful.

A huge thank you to the team from Broome & Beyond. We had a fantastic holiday in part due to the quality and care that goes into look after us and providing a 4WD and Camper that more than makes life easy when away from the world. We loved the Hilux and TrayOn so much we are in the process of buying one for our home adventures here in NZ. We will be back to book another vehicle for the next segment of our Oz adventures.

Thanks so much to Brendan and Tracey who patiently facilitated our many changes of plans due to Covid-19 related border closures. The Trayon was the perfect way to explore the west coast from Broome to Perth, we were very comfortable and were able to access campsites where there were no others around due to its 4WD capabilities (what a treat!). Would definitely recommend to anyone - especially for the customer service.

Best experience, couldnt have been better! 100% recommend using them, they are extremely good and their campers are maintained to the highest level and fully kitted. I had a brand new 2022 hilux which was perfect and could handle any part of WA. They are really personal and make sure you have everything you can possibly need for your trip. Staff are super responsive should you need anything! No issues at all, really impressed!

We were very happy with our experience with this firm. We originally booked a 4WD camper-van for a trip to the Kimberley in 2021- that had to be deferred to 2022. Just finished 27 days in the van along the GRR and then on the black top back to Broome. Everything was ship shape: picked up the vehicle, bought our food and then off on our adventure. Everything was there and worked well! We found everyone we dealt with from booking to picking the van up and return very professional, responsive and helpful. Don at Broome was a delight to deal with and went out of his way to assist. I would recommend this firm.

Hired march 2022. Contact was terrible, would not return phone calls, texts, emails or the emergency phone number supplied as we had a small issue, fixed the electrical problem myself, lost everything in our fridge had to buy food twice. Camper was good, vehicle was nice. Just wasn't prepared well enough and checked over properly from last hirer.

We just has an awesome 10 days on the Gibb with a Isuzu dual cab Ute with roof top tent from Broome and beyond. The car didn't miss a beat on this rough track! Everything is supplied, linen, Engel fridge, epirb etc. The service of Dan, Tracey

We hired a tray on Toyota Hilux just a few weeks ago and the whole process from start to finish was amazing! The booking team and the team at the pickup site in Broome were extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Everything has been thought of.these vehicles have everything you need, just pack your clothes and buy your food! Have already recommended to others, and we will be hiring again soon! The Kimberley has some amazing sights to see, and the Broome and Beyond camper will take you off the beaten track to see them all.

Thank you Dan and Saphira. I am not a camper but after our experience with your 4WD and the Gibb River Road trip I am a convert! Loved the freedom of eating under the stars every night and the flexibility of setting our own agenda with the trayon camper, which had everything we needed. Two weeks in the camper flew past, and I feel we need to go back and explore more! Great service!

Mixed feelings because the car itself and the value for money compared to other companies is good (see photos of other reviewers). We had a damage on the way which was provisionally repaired within one day. So great service in regards to the car and short notice help.
However:

- When you rent the car they take $5000 bond which is not frozen on your credit card like common practice but taken off your account. In reality that means that in our case you pay €2000 for the car plus €3200 for the insurance until you return the car. The only way to avoid this is to buy an overpriced daily rate insurance which we didn't need because my credit card covers this. As this is the first time I paid a bond rather than giving a guarantee via credit card, I wasn't aware of that until picking up the car and was lucky that I could make an immediate online transfer of €3200 to my credit card, otherwise I couldn't have done the rental at all. As money is transferred forth and back credit card fees and FX rate changes apply. I lost ~€200 in the process.
- We rented the car for 3 weeks and had a damage which took another 3 weeks to repair. Eventually I received the remainder of the bond back and had a final invoice via e-mail which I was able to use for my insurance ($1400 damage, which was fine). The returned bond however was $100 short against the final invoice without notice and without additional invoice. Broome and Beyond justified this with "additional damages found", which must have been 3+ weeks after returning the car. I was never notified of any additional damage. I'm writing this 8 weeks after end of rental and there is no justification yet. E-Mails take weeks to respond, every e-mail starts with "sorry for the delay" but doesn't really explain anything in regards to why the bond is short vs the final invoice. Broome and Beyond is on "holidays oversees", where there seems to be no internet to reply to my inquiries. I have given it to the WA customer protection agency now.
I understand it's "only about $100" but it appears to be very unnecessary because it could have been paid by my insurer but because of sloppy work, they're now denying it because they obviously argue with good reason that a there is no additional invoice after a final invoice.

I would recommend the car itself but be prepared to pay 10-20% extra for unexpected fees even if you have excess insurance. Business practices are very shady in regards to invoices, credit card practices and 3rd party used for car pick up / return in Perth.
