46You can view the top deck for free however it is $12 for a family to go below deck. We didn't go below deck as we have been on a similar boat in Sydney.
Absoloutely loved it. The staff were friendly and you get portable information speakers so you can hear about all aspects of the ship
Explore the historic place with only $5 per person. Go down to the deck while listening to the audio. The volunteer John is friendly and told us some history, the original one sank in Tasmania in 1846 this is replicated one.
The rigging is dangerous and likely to fall down at some point in my opinion.
However the staff and volunteers are great and very friendly and helpful.
Beautiful place to go if you want to learn about ships in the past. If you wish to go below deck and learn about them you have to pay an entry fee, if you can I would highly recommend going down below deck as it is a good experience for the kids and family.
Just a replica of an original sailing vessel located outside the Albany museum. Paid ticket to climb up and see. A similar experience is the whale killer ship at the Albany whaling station.
Really enjoyed the history here- the conditions in the ship were quite incredible and its great to be able to see it for real- plus an interesting museum a nice morning out for the family.
Nice to explore the replica ship, can go on top for free but to go under has a fee, a autamted guided recording is also supplied when to talk through the history and parts of the boat.
This is the highlight of Albany. A must visit place if you love history or even like to know more about what it was like living in the boat for months and months. The price is reasonably cheap, $12 for a family of 4.
Learn how the first people that visited Western Australia got to Albany. The ship shows you how the people that live on the ship lived during the voyage to WA.
Awesome boat to check out and take my daughter to see. Price was good to unlike a lot of other places. Brings back memories of seeing tat when I was a kid.
We liked the tour inside the ship. Reasonable ticket $12 for a family of 4 or $5 adult. Very interesting facts about the life aboard a ship in olden days.
What an Awesome Ship, just $5 per person to go below deck. I really love learning about the local history and this didnt disappoint best thing is the rest of the museum is free.
Turned up not long after they closed. Information panels with prices if you want to see the below deck when open. I was happy enough to just see the exterior. Though I'm sure it would be worth the cost during business hours.
It's up a very slight hill to the ship. But no stairs. There are some cottages across from it with Information panels.
The area does have CCTV.
An amazing piece of history and even better that you can actually go on board and experience what it felt like to be inside the hull!
Very interesting, worth a look.
The history is amazing, very well kept, volunteers very helpful & friendly
Do you have a friend who complains about life in the 21st century? Nags you about small inconveniences in a first world country? Take them on a tour of the Brig Amity. Go below into the decks and get a taste of what actual strife and troubles people went through. The tour made me realise true hardship. Wonderful experience, highly recommended if dropping by in Albany.
Wealth of information in here & staff very enthusiastic to impart their knowledge & love of Albany & surrounds with brochures on everything you could possibly want to see!
My dad George Lesbian Johnson did the history for Albanys Brig amity before it was made in 1977 as a local historical tourist attraction.it's built by locals back in the 1970s to scale, and has been an attraction for over 40yrs
