Bill's Fish and Chips

We usually order fish, no chips. It is always such a nice surprise when we find chips in our packet. Thank you Bill and team for the personal touch. We’ve tried other fish shops (when Bill’s is closed) but no other fish shop compares. The fish is awesome!

So disappointed - the chips were reasonably ok but could have been cooked a bit more. The pink snapper at $19.90 a serve was a complete disgrace - soggy under cooked batter and very ordinary fish. Really over-priced and will definitely not be returning again. Feeling completely ripped off for the price charged.

I have been going to this place for as long as I can remember and it’s still my absolute favourite! Would highly recommend the calamari! Such fresh fish! Highly recommend!

The chips were nice although slightly undercooked but the batter on the fish was soggy with the consistency of a chamois leather. Also, why have I got to ask for a "child's portion" if I only want one piece of fish?

Service really friendly. We weren't that hungry so only had a chiko roll and corn jack but they were nice enough to throw just a small handful of chips in too which was really appreciated! Thanks!

The fish (hake) is not batterd or cooked fresh, it is pre cooked then re-heated in hot oil.
Cooking the fish in this makes the batter stodgy and it doesnt take too long to lose any crispness it has to it. This makes the batterd fish almost unedible.
The fish portions are small aswell.
I hope their more exspensive fish is cooked fresh and larger in size.
The only real enjoyable part of our meal was the chips, they were plentiful and almost crispy.
Although our ordered childs meal was drowned with vinegar, i couldn't belive how much she smothered it. I did ask for salt and vinegar but not to ruin my childs meal in the process. One of the cookhands there gave me a backchat attitude saying " you asked for extra " whilst literally pouring the vinegar over the meal when i asking them "not too much please".
I was not happy and very disappointed in Bills fish and chips, i thought I'd give them a go, but it was not good at all.

Like my father use to say I am not angry just disappointed”. Worst chips soggy over salted and fish was below average. Thanks mate.

For me nothing can beat bills fish and chips. The food, employees and service is 10/10 to say the least. Nothing can beat it!

Below average fish and chips. There was nothing terrible about the food, it was all edible and not undercooked but we regret not going to Macdonalds as we had planned.

Serving sizes weren't great and the batter on fish was soggy, just not crisp at all.but the big disappointment was the gravy. The gravy. It is literally the gravy mix we have in a tin at home mixed with just water. I've never gotten gravy from a chippy that didn't have a rich flavour, with some better than others but always fairly decent. It's one of the biggest draws for us to go to chippy because if we wanted packet gravy and water we can make that at home.

There's 3 fish and chips shops within about a kilometre of our home in Watermans Bay, this is hands down the worst of the lot. We won't be returning when we have much better options within walking distance.

Also this place doesn't even have a proper specials/pack board like every other place I've ever been to.

If you're hungry and want fish and chips this place is ok but they don't seem to take much pride in what they serve.

Can’t say I enjoyed it.the fish itself was ok but the batter was a disappointment.it could be because we were there bang on opening time and the fryers weren’t hot enough coupled with the 5 min drive home. (so I gave them an extra star) but it really lacked seasoning and was quite blonde and a bit too mushy and oily. I think a little extra cooking and some salt would have made it much nicer (wasn’t asked if I wanted any salt). Squid tasted a bit floury too.plenty of other fish and chip places in the area to try.

Very nice food. Make sure you get cinnamon sugar on your pineapple fritters. No deals just fish and chips for one, fish and chips for one times two and so on.

My daughter called up and placed an order thinking it was our local fish shop in Maryborough victoria only to realise when we went in to pick it up she had called Perth. So I called back to cancel the order and get a refund as we paid over the phone. Order was cancelled but we never got our money back. $82 for a meal plus the $62 meal I had to spend at our local fish shop. Bloody expensive not happy as I have left my number for them to call back and nothing has happened. This all occurred on Good Friday not happy at all.

Been two weeks now. They have my number. I have left messages, but now they don’t answer their calls or if they do they hang up on me. If I could give them 0 stars I would. Anybody out there NEVER SHOP HERE TOTAL WASTE OF TIME.

Very disappointed with Bills Fish & Chips: Ordered fish & chips there last night my Son had to wait over an hour before he got his order and when we finally got down to eat the fish was aweful! We had to throw half of it away plus they put no salt on the chips. Very poor service and food. Was a waste of my time and money!

Booked to pick up for 730pm. Arrived at 730 told still a 1 hour wait. Poor service with no phone call before hand to advise. Long time customer that won’t be returning.

Quite disappointed with our experience after seeing all the great reviews. The grilled Snapper was a small portion & very overcooked which was a shame because the seasoning tasted quite nice. $21.40 for the two small pieces was quite disappointing. The cobbler really didn’t taste great either - not sure if it was the fish itself or the quality of the fish, the batter itself was a bit thick. Service was fast & efficient.

BEST FISH AND CHIPS IN AUSTRALIA! Usually I avoid buying fish and chips because I don't enjoy fish, but Bill's Fish and Chips has just changed my life!

Everything was soggy and we came at the time they said (15mins after we ordered). Got barramundi, chips, potato scallops and chicken nuggets and it was not crisp as you’d expect. Overpriced too, compared to my local. $45+ compared to my local which is around $20/$25 for two people and is always great

Bill does great chips and generally has a nice light batter on his fish. Always enjoy the food from here.

Best fish and chips on the west coast. We get a feed from Bill almost every Friday for the last 13 years.

One of if not the best fish n chips in Perth. Quality ingredients and experience distinguish Bill's from the many competitors. Never had a bad or even average meal from here, its a family favorite. In fact it's pretty much the only place that the kids will choose over dreaded golden arches. Consistently generous serves to the extent that ordering per person results in enough leftovers to make another meal the next day. They must use a good quality oil that's changed regularly because its light and never leaves you with a "wish I hadn't done that" feeling. There's a wide selection of fresh fish as well as all the other deep fryer fodder such as chico rolls, cheese sausages and the like. These days we stick to the basics and just order fish n chips x the number of diners minus one and serve of the delicious squid that seems to in some kind of tempura batter (half serve feeds two adults in combination with the fish). As for the chips, let's just say they generally are torn open immediately and despite being far too hot are just too good to resist on the drove home. Service is what you would expect from a family operated business with a proud history. Courteous and prompt as well as patient and kind. They've waited patiently for us to pickup after closing due to our families inability to arrive anywhere on time and I think I've only managed to pay for Tartare sauce once in the whole time we have been going there. Cannot rate this place highly enough - kids love it and even those such as my self who are fussy about seafood (I.e don't particularly like it) can't help but crave it. Everyone I've referred has become a regular there. In the hotly depbated topic of best in the business Bills is right up there.
