Beckenham IGA reviews
35 Be very careful expecting to buy fresh bread especially Long’s Bakery. I always check tags for day baked as I did today. Long’s Bakery 6 pkt knot rolls had on the label “baked 12/01/24”.
I can absolutely guarantee that these rolls ARE NOT FRESH and are not baked today 12/01/24. I do not ever buy stale bread but on this occasion, I was scammed.
It is obvious to me that they rebag out of date bread rolls with a new baked on date label hoping customers won’t know that they have just paid full price for stale bread. BEWARE
Staff are so friendly and locals. It's not the tidiest, but the staff make up for it.
Easy to shop. I don't do big shopping here, but you get what you want without driving a few km to big supermarkets. Some prices are high, though. But if you do small shopping, you don't have to worry.
C4 so expensive. Likely due to wholesaler aggressive price hikes to maintain large profits. Why not stock AUS brands? Better and cheaper plus same or better margin. I try to support local but why do I even bother when I see C4 priced so aggressively, there is no 10c refund for charity and it's a poor quality US import. Stick to AUS brands.
Always beautiful fruit and veges and so many grocery items, the staff are always busy stocking shelves and are very helpful
IGA is small but great for all the small purchases. Whenever I need something is hurry, IGA is my first option. The pricing is reasonable; almost all the groceries are available.
Charged me full price for the specials, charged me 15 dollars more, zero selection or stock, overpriced as well, didn’t even offer a receipt, just shouted next.
My local! But it's not as big or flash as some areas around town. So 4 Star rating because the others are bigger and better! But still it's ok.
Trust me, if you are not "blonde hair and blue eyes", leave it, otherwise, you will have a terrible reciption service! They are racism! They even forget that their owner is black hair!
When discussing IGAs, I usually differentiate between "old Foodland IGA" and "old Dewsons IGA. " This is the former. The range is small, and the prices are higher. It's certainly not competitive with Coles and Woolies as, for instance, Lynwood IGA is. Mind you, I think the people complaining about the price are missing the point - this is a corner store, the price is for the convenience, it's not supposed to compete with Coles or Woolies.
But it has a reasonable selection of meats and breads, and a variety of fruits and vegetables that's not to be sneezed at. All in all better than most of the similar sized competitors. I wouldn't do my weekly shopping here, but I'll pop in when I just need a few essentials.
Not my usual shop but stopped in on our to a friends house. What a fabulous little store this is.
This particular IGA is my local "go to" for daily rations and urgent calls.
The staff there are ALWAYS friendly, courteous and competent.
I know it's not the done thing to be a smoker nowadays, but my partner and I still are. And the crew here went to the trouble of finding our favourite brands and buying them in.
How's that for service?
Five stars just isn't enough for this particular IGA store.
Fabulous service. Great range of eclectic products for the size of the store.
Highly recommend, even though not my local IGA.
Gems: Good selection of things. Bakery. Friendly staff. Fruits are always fresh. Was able to get Cara Cara oranges here in winter.
When there's a sale for ice cream, that's when I stock up. Wish you carried Ben and Jerry's.
Opportunity to improve: Management needs to think of biz plan. Feels like it's trying Aldi's concept but failing miserably.
As a customer, I'd rather cheaper produce that's fresh rather than new stands of gardening equipment. That really didn't make any sense. Hoping prices will drop making it more reasonable. Need some form of stability in products. One moment there's buttermilk and next it's never there again.
Items on discount such as soup stocks are still priced very high compared to Coles/Woolworths hence products don't go as fast and expire.
Proper labels and pricing for items.
Steep pricing, rarely the cashier gives receipt. Also pricing is different compared to online catalog of store. Poor presentation. Needs a redesign probably.
Conveniently located. Friendly staff. Good stocks of groceries. Fruit & veg are fresher than the big supermarkets
Its ok if you find yourself short for milk, bread etc. As for the bottle shop next door which I think maybe the same owner, tather expensive and the woman thats behind the counter sometimes, is definitively not customer service focused, its all money. Doesn't speak much but if you give the wrong money, bingo, it speaks.
Bought an item from iga but it turns out it was expired for 5 months.definitely check the expiries!
Location is great, good variety of essentials however, prices are steep (as are all IGA chains) staff aren't very friendly and they don't have extended trading hours.
I live locally and have shopped at this store many times. Now I refuse to go there as the staff (mostly the young girls) are lazy and very rude. Can't stand this shop. I now go further to Food Works in Kenwick where the service is better. Wouldn't even give IGA Beckenham 1 star.
