Balga Fish & Chips Cafe

The chips are yummy, but the value of the chip is absolutely a rip off. When I told the guy is value for money is poor, the guy responded if I'm not happy go somewhere else. Well I will be in future. The service was disgusting. The pineapple fritters are tasteless. The use unsweetened, which is wrong. The business really needs to find new owners. Won't be spending another cent there.

I have been a valued customer for over 3 years now, don't get me wrong, the food there is amazing, besides the pineapple fritters (tasteless).
I've just been tonight and gone and gotten special for 3 and 5 dollars worth of extra chips, got there, looked at the chips and there was literally $5 worth in there. I said something to the guy serving me and he said if I'm not happy with it, he suggest we go somewhere else. Not very happy with the service.

Appalling service, I can’t even call it service since got screamed at which is not acceptable in customer service. I requested they cook the chips to a darker gold but all they did was give me white soggy chips- hardly fried and no crunch. They also ripped me off on price as their fish and chips deal for 3 was $29 and I asked for $6 worth of extra chips instead of on $4 worth of chips and 6 chicken nuggets which was meant to be $34.50. I was charged $38.50 because the idiots didn’t want to listen. They were also stingy as we had a pretty small portion of chips for what they charged. I am never coming back and recommend no one comes either as specially when they hardly speak English to people. They are dam stingy, rude and arrogant. If I could give 0 stars I would. Never coming back again.

As a regular this will be my last time to get a feed from here. The amount I have spent here over the years is not worth anymore. The servings of fish and chips have gone so small and not worth the price. The fish is half the size as well as a couple pieces of chips. Not recommending this place anymore: (

Great food but 45 bucks for 5 dim sims and 3 bits of fish and 6 pieces of squid disappointed for sure used to be affordable

Not sure what has changed but decided to venture back and try their Beef burger with the lot and some potato fritters. Bloody delicious. Definitely worth giving them another try as it looks like new owners. Very cheary and happy to spend my money local. $9 for a burger with the lot.

Used to be good but there prices keep going up got fish n chips week ago wasn't to bad got 6$ worth of chips threw them in bin my dog wouldn't even eat them disgusting ripped off

Went here for lunch the other day and just bought some chips and paid $5 and got a mere couple of handfuls! I asked for salt and Vinegar and even that was so light on (obviously trying to cut back! LOL! Sarcasm intended!) that I was barely able to taste it and for $5 minimum chips it really was minimum chips!

Used to be the Best Fish & Chips ever but it's gone down hill so much. Not sure if I get the food from the window reheated so it burns or they just don't care anymore but the last few times my spring rolls have been unedible

Last night we ordered the special of 3,3 extra crab sticks and an extra $5 worrh of chips, over $40. This has become the worst fish and chips place i have been to. The batter on the fish (Snapper upgrade), Din Sims and Crab sticks was so thick and dry that my family actually took most of it off before eating it. The amount of chips we got in the box for 3 was probably 1 servings worth. I actually felt sick after eating some of the batter.

Not very happy with the amount of chips. This is meant to be $4 worth. I ordered 3 fish, $4 chips, 5 crab sticks and 20 squid rings which cost me $49. I realised when I went to collect them that it would have been $5 cheaper to order as 3 fish, $4 chips 3 crab sticks for $29 and pay the extra for 2 more crab sticks and the squid rings. I mentioned it to the guy that served me, he worked it out and said, "your right, you should order it that way next time", sorry no money back and to top it off, I get back home to find this lousy amount of chips + the squid rings had way too much batter.: (

Wow this is the worst fish and chips! The batter is so bad, the fish was dry and very fishy for shark I'm guessing was old.the chips ok but serving size was small. Crabsticks so bad and shrivelled like they had been under warmer all day. I didn't eat it and wouldn't serve it to my kids or even my dog.the lot went in the bin

$41 certainly doesn't get you much these days at Balga Fish and Chips. Used to be great, but their prices have gone up and serving sizes have gone way way down. No food has been eaten yet, there are 30 chips at best in this box.
Will I be coming here again? Easy answer is no.

Orded a kiwi hot dog was disappointed wrong sausage and batter, just a suggestion use different batter for different kinds of food everything deserves it's own taste, it all just tasted like fish

Not our local but thought I'd give it a go through Uber eats. Snapper was very nice but perhaps not as fresh as I would like it too be. Squid rings were really good, but the pineapple fritter was not sweet and too much batter. Large chips were heaps for two of us and nice and fresh. No complaints here for serving sizes. I would certainly recommend it if youre in that area.

Fish and chips sre always good. HOWEVER NOW SERVINGS OF FISH AND CHIPS ARE MUCH SMALLER.and prices are up?

Absolute joke sizing, $11.50 for a small piece of fish and literally a handful of chips

Tried Balga fish and chips for the first time today. Phone order take away. It was so quick, less than 10 mins. And I’m blown away at how good it was! Wrapped very well to preserve the meal, the fish is not stingy and thick enough with light crispy batter that you can tell has been perfected in time and usage of fresh, excellent quality ingredients. It’s close to my home and I am certain this will be a staple multiple times a week, for a price point that’s also way better than going anywhere near Hilary’s.

They also serve chicken cheese sausage which we tried and did not disappoint. They also have fresh fried chicken and other fried meat goodness. I will be coming back again and again and I’ll recommend to as many as I can.

The fish was great, along with crabsticks & battered mussels. However, the $3.00 worth of chips was well below par. Usually happy, but considering the amount of chips in the order left me scratching my head.

Very rude older lady, possibly owner? First time I was waiting for fish +chips for my father, I ate a chicken skewer, she refused to let me put the rubbish in the bin, told me to take it with me, who won’t let a customer use a bin!? Second chance, this time she convinced me to get the Barramundi saying it was very good, then tried to charge me $2 extra even though it was only $1 extra per piece of fish, saying the extra dollar was a substitution fee!? She convinced me to do it!? An extra dollar for nothing! What a con!

Food is half decent although small serves, but it is so not worth supporting this business. Even on good days the lady is abrupt +stand-offish. I refuse to go back +my father would get me to get him this 1-2 times a week.
