I rented a vehicle through Avis Busselton Airport on 4/9/23. Upon collection, the tyre pressure gauge light was on. I didn't think too much of it as I assumed that Avis do a vehicle inspection before handing a new car over to a new customer.
Over the next 2 days, the tyre pressure light was still on & the steering was getting heavier. After pulling into a service station to check the PSI (Max 44), I found that one of the tyres was 11.
Yes, 11.
I was given a dangerous vehicle by Avis whose negligence could have seriously harmed my partner and I.
I called Avis informing them of the dangerously low tyre pressure and the lady who I spoke with brushed it off & stated that I could discuss this issue with someone at Avis Busselton Airport. Unfortunately, no one was at the stand when I dropped off the vehicle on 13/9/23.
The tyre pressure light went back on on 13/9 just before I returned the vehicle.
Avis need to do better vehicle checks before handing over dangerous vehicles to their customers.
I am not happy at all with this rental & am very upset about the lack of care that the Avis Customer Care team have towards my situation

Absolutely shocked at what our experience was with this place, luckily there’s a few other car hire places that will look after you, avoid Avis like the plague!

Absolutely disgusting experience! They took a deposit of $460 from my account which, i repeat WHICH i haven’t received back yet and it’s been well over 5 weeks.
The lady in the office is so rude, so aggressive and very psycho.you ask one question and she raises her voice, gives you the most dirtiest looks, throws stuff around when doing the paperwork and makes you feel very uncomfortable.
One star is above what i wanted to rate, unfortunately you can’t go any lower.
Absolutely appalled at everything.

First time renting at Avis Busselton/Bunbury and NEVER AGAIN. Very disappointed with the customer service. First I made a booking over the phone, confirmed everything and called the next day to pay for the reservation. After payment over the phone they said they will email me the receipt. That was a Saturday, my booking was for Friday coming. Wednesday I still didn’t receive a receipt so i decided to call the office. Apparently there was no booking on their system under my name and no payment has been accounted for. The lady on the phone created a booking right there and then and said car will be ready on Friday. Come Friday pick up was a breeze, wanted to use my Amex to pay for the deposit of $400 but the lady said oh ANZ is fine they normally give back your money in 2 days so went ahead with ANZ. Saturday 6am driving to our destination which is 10 hours away. Seatbelt sign and alarm was blinking on and off even though no one was sitting there so we put all the seatbelts on the seat and it was good. About 3pm seatbelt sign and alarm bad beeping again. Tried to call Avis office to no avail. Tuesday we have back the car, told the lady what happened and said that they will raise the issue. No feedback till Thursday when I called to ask what the update is. AVIS IS BLAMING ME FOR NOT GIVING THEM A CALL ON THEIR EMERGENCY NUMBER! NO APOLOGIES WHATSOEVER at all and was telling me you should have called us so we can tell you how to switch it off such a simple thing to do. Did not even showed any concern about our safety or anything. I wrote them an email and waited for any response but no response so I called in the afternoon and spoke to a guy that was even angrier on the phone with me like he was the one who was inconvenienced by it and telling me why am I picking on them? My safety and my family is my number one concern during this whole trip and all they can say is that I didn’t call them and telling me I should know their emergency number and it was there in the rental paperwork they gave me. NO ONE TOLD ME that we we got the car. All I know is that I have their number saved on my phone and that was the number I was calling. Disappointed and extremely upset with the interaction with this business.

Absolutely awful place booked online 3 weeks in advance only to get a phone call a day before pick up that advised that they do not have any trucks? When I asked why they accepted my booking and had email confirmation they said that the system doesn’t work properly and offered no alternative do not even consider these people to hire with

Organised car rental to be picked up at Busselton airport to be then told its at a different location. Upon arrival at second location rude receptionist could not of been any less helpful if she tried. I work in customer service and her service was the worst I have ever come across.

Deanna is lovely but other lady is a nutcase. Appalling and terrible behaviour. Avoid AVIS BUSSELTON service if you care about your self-respect.

Worst company to deal with. Staff are incredibly rude and unhelpful. I was charged a one way fee of $150 for a rental car that was ONLY available to hire one way anyhow. I did THEM a favour by returning the car to Perth. Completely ripped off and no contact since. Avoid at all costs.

This is for Alan who rudely hung up on me after I enquired about a car rental, I'm a local paying Customer but he was more concerned with his Melbourne tourists. I understand he was busy but he needs to work on his Customer Service skills.

Much confusion about age limits for rentals at the Busselton branch. I checked on the Avis website before booking to see if over 80s could book a rental. (I am 80 with a valid WA drivers license). There was no indication that they could not so I made a booking. When I arrived I was told by the staff member that the rental could not be in my name because of my age. Fortunately my 'younger wife' was with me and the agreement was put in her name. However, there was still doubt about whether I would be able to drive. I was then told by the staff member that she would check with her manager and get back to me. She did not. Very poor customer service. Not sure if I would use Avis again.

Had a break down so needed a hire car ASAP.

Could not have been more helpful. Initially 1 days hire, but then extended to 4 days and organised a Perth drop off with no issues.

Friendly staff and very helpful.

The customer service at the office is really bad. I was told to just come to view the car. The next day when I got there the lady in the office was on the phone for almost half an hour leaving us waiting outside. When she came out again she just said she had to run and we could come back later or ring them. At the same time there are two other customers there and they couldn’t take their car as expected. Would definitely not rent a car from them.

We rented a vehicle for 4 days and loved Avis. The agent was efficient and had our car ready quickly as well as gave us some history on the area before we left. She was wonderful and we will use Avis next time we are in Australia.

Don’t take bookings if you can’t follow through with them. Made my partner wait 45 mins to tell us they couldn’t give us a 1 way car trip

I was late for an appointment today, not just any old appointment but an important ongoing Oncology one, vital to my sons terminal brain cancer treatment at Sir Charles Gardiner in Perth. Due to the heat we are experiencing in the southwest, and my own vehicles air conditioning being too costly for me to fix at the moment, I used the Avis website to reserve a car for a 24 hour period, so that my son, who is on anti-seizure medication now, would be able to do the 7 hour round trip in comfort and to avoid any possible stress on his brain from the heat. Extreme or lengthy exposure to either hot or cold can exacerbate this condition. When I booked online I made sure I read and double checked the debit card policy to make sure there wouldnt be any nasty surpises. On arriving to pick it up, I was told that I would need to have an avail funds in that account of $3000, plus 2 other charges, and that this is stated online. It clearly does not state any amount of $3000, and so we both had to endure terrible heat. I did call the boss in Bunbury, who had no sympathy after explaining my situation, I offered what I believed to be a fair cash dep, to no avail. I was told " If you dont have the $3000 then you cant have the car. " What would an excess of $3000 be for, Im left wondering? Flexibility can go a long way in a company where you are dealing with peoples individual situations. I have hired vehicles with other companies with a debit card many times, and NEVER had this happen. First and last time dealing with Avis.
