Fantastic course that has some very picturesque holes and well maintained fairways and greens. The rest of it unfortunately, not so much - cart paths could use a bit of work as there are potholes and bumps everywhere which is a concern given that you have to pay for any damage incurred to carts, and half of the rough is unplayable because you're hitting off rock.

Bit annoying as well that sprinklers were on while we played, got soaked on the 1st hole and there were sprinklers in the way further into the course as well.

I don't think this is a walkable course, unless you're extremely fit or have a lot of time on your hands as the distance between some holes is quite long. Overall there are more good things than bad, I'd definitely make the trip out here again

We recently had our wedding at Araluen Estate and from the moment we walked into Araluen, it was absolutely stunning. We had been dealing with a different venue previously that had organisation issues, Erin and the team were polar opposites. They were so organised and accommodating, and it just felt like it was meant to be. The venue is gorgeous, from the ceremony down towards the lake and the reception up on the terrace: it was all picture perfect. All our guests commented on how stunning the venue was, and how good the food was! Araluen exceeded our expectations and would 1000% recommend to anyone getting married. We can’t thank Erin and her team enough!

Amazing course, some visually beautiful holes and fortunately to get the greens after being watered lots over the past 4 day heatwave

Course has stunning scenery, condition and management are not in as great shape, think they are trying to reinvent the wheel, it’s not that hard, if you have a space in your booking sheet, give it to the guy that wants it.
I hope this course is not lost due to poor management, they need to take a look at some of the other courses in their area, there’s a lot they could learn. Review probably deserves 3 stars but angered by managers response to a simple request.

Golf course is looking great for Spring. Greens are in great condition and super fast. Golf cart is essential due to the hilly terrain.
Food options currently fairly limited. Mobile phone reception also weak due to valley location.

I'm a beginner and have played a few courses now. Araluen is by far my favourite course. Had a great time playing here and it is absolutely beautiful. Will definitely be back

As a current member, and 5 hdcp, and someone who primarily cares about the golf course, this is paradise.

The golf: Has no equal in Perth. Elevation changes, scenic vistas, No parallel holes, risk/reward, sloped greens (multi tier, false fronts, Augusta like trickles), great tees/greens/fairways. You miss the fairway, you pay the price. Bunkers are rocky (what are you doing in there anyway? !). Greens would have to be the best kept in Perth year round and remind me of home (pebble beach area, California). Hats off to the grounds crew, making miracles considering how few staff there are.

Facilities: hang on out of order sign on 80% of the building. Restaurant, there isn’t one. Resort, never built. Pro shop, nope. What they do have: A multi-purpose bar with Servo fare.

Service: The staff have an impossible task - be a barista, golf shop attendant, cart boy, manage tee sheet, greeter, cafe attendant, all at the same time, whilst working on skeleton crew of 1/2 serving up to 10-20 people at a time. Should never have less than 3-5 staff working on a course of this quality.

Range: real grass, well maintained hitting area, and cheap balls. Also a decent chipping and practice green with bunker.

Value: if it was fully restored, you’d pay $150-$200 per round as a guest, $10k to join, and it would be worth it. In current condition, With specials $40 and up, best value in the state. And 7-day membership well under $2k - can’t beat it.

Expectations: if you want a great test of quality, challenge golf in a scenic location with kangaroos, golf at its finest, this is it. If you require facilities, fine dining, and perfect cart paths, amenities, you’ll be disappointed.

In summary, this was a new rolls Royce when it was built in the 1990’s - no expense spared. The engine (golf course) still runs smooth and was built to last, the rest of the car is in disrepair, with any expense avoided. Let’s hope it gets returned to its full former glory one day. In the meantime, go rev the engine, and bring your A-game, you’ll need it!

Hot tips: take 1.5 extra clubs on your uphill approach on 3,5,13. If there’s is headwind, you’ll need 2 clubs extra on 15 & 16 to reach the green. Do not put backspin on your approach at 17, it will come back into the creek, even from middle of the green.

Well I just love this place even as a very average golfer. It can be difficult with fast greens but that's half the fun, challenge your self and enjoy

Great condition, Beautiful nature. The greens were very slick. The only downfall is there’s barely any staff:

Have always enjoyed this course over the years. A good challenge for sure, but I will keep returning whenever I get the chance!

Such a beautiful Golf course, however the Greens are hideously quick and when you think that only 3.2% of Golfers have a 5 or less handicap which these greens are suitable for, its also completely ridiculous. Probably won’t come back and would rather spend my money on a course where at least I have a chance.

Course continues to be in good condition. Always loved the layout.
Young lady working in the shop does an exceptional job.

First time playing the course. It is hard and not forgiving if you muck up all the kangaroos and wallabies make it worth playing.

Clarke, Tasha and the team are fantastic with their professional approach and full compliments to the greens staff on the presentation of the course all through 2020. Thankyou.

It is a unique course in very good condition. The 9th is classic, a hidden green the other side of a lake and the 16th a par 3 from elevated tees over a lake. Then the last 2 holes with a creek running alongside and across the fairways makes for careful placement. With the February special of $40 pp for 18 holes with a shared cart it is a great experience and great value.

Course is decent. But bunkers are very poor, unraked, wet and terrible sand.
How is it a "resort"? No accommodation, no food.
The Club house is 90's boom time style which has a permanently closed restaurant, poor service and super expensive beers. Pro shop is closed and now serving out of the bar and totally under staffed. Bins outside were overflowing outside by lunchtime. Unfortunately without some decent investment and proactive management this place is doomed. Such a shame the venue plus an interesting course has potential to be amazing.

Fun course, but very poorly maintained.
Cart paths are crumbling and breaking apart. Bunkers are full of pea gravel, so bring an old wedge or you will do serious damage to yours.
Still a really fun course to play, and fantastic scenary, but I won't be in a rush to come back.

Nice course great staff. Bunkers could be better but overall a very enjoyable course. Quite challenging on some holes which is good. Will definitely be back.
