AQWA The Aquarium Of Western Australia reviews
52 We only come here around once a year due to the cost, but it's always a special experience.
Highlights of the day were the mermaid show, pirate show, and the coral "library" which is new and an amazing way to see and compare many different types of corals. We were fascinated by having a peek into the lab where corals are carefully grown. It is great to see what changes have been made and new exhibits.
Really enjoyed the leafy seadragon, what a special experience to see although we would've loved to see more than one of them in the tank. It would be great to see more fish in the touch pool as well, definitely remember there being many more the last few times we visited?
The kids were entranced by the many different species of aquatic life and by the mermaids, fantastic job ladies.
I have to say I was really impressed with the quality of the food and coffee at the café, everyone was really happy with the coffees and the fish and chips was nice and crispy and fresh. Especially impressive because the aquarium was super busy today!
Always love coming here. Just 4 stars because with the tickets I bought online, I still need to wait in the same line as all the people that didn't do that get past the front desk.
A relatively small aquarium with focus on the walk through viewing tunnel showing local school fish and sharks and rays. Smaller tanks have individual specues and thenes such as venomous creatures.
Lovely place, well maintained, really enjoyed it. Aren't God's creatures amazing. When I see such beauty all I can do is thank God. Absolutely tremendous. Closest I will ever get to seeing shark species and sting wrays. The fish and the coral just wow. Very tranquil and a wonderful outing with family. I have seen wild life on safari many times. Seen beautiful wildlife born in the wild. I have seen a leopard kill and drag it into a tree, elephants on the runway as we were about to land in a national park. Lions, cheetah's, zebras, buffalo, Springbok, impala's, rhino's, giraffe, kudu, wilderbeast, so so much more. The big 5. I miss that so much coming from Africa. We are so blessed. My next adventure is the planetarium. Take it all in People and just thank God, without Him we would not have breath or be able to see such amazing beauty around us. Remember to have fun
It was an awesome trip
The best part was the big tunnel you walk through. It's like you're underwater with sharks and rays swimming all around you. Some of the fish are so colorful, it's like they're from another world.
There are lots of cool things to learn about too. I saw seahorses, jellyfish, and even a big octopus! The people who work there are super nice and told us all about the animals.
Outside, there's a big playground, so kids can run around and play. Plus, there's a café where you can grab a snack or a yummy ice cream.
Nice food (and a way of getting it), and nice souvenir shop. The aquarium is amazing, must see attraction when your going to Perth. The jellyfish was my favourite part, but amazing to see the sharks lying on the glass, very cute. When your visiting Perth, you need to see it sometime.
Me and my partner did the shark snorkel and it was awesome! Had a beautiful encounter with the loggerhead turtle and having the massive rays swim under me was insane! Sprinkle in some 3 meter nurse sharks and you've got an epic day to remember. Our dive master, Gordon, was great. Super knowledgeable and helpful.
The aquarium itself is one of the best I've been to! The exhibits are exquisite, especially the big coral tank. Must spend a few hours here if you're visiting Perth. Highly recommended the shark snorkel too.
This is a Must Visit Place in Perth. Beautifully maintained aquarium with a glass boat ride on the biggest aquarium tank in Australia
I love aquariums as a rule - and visit them whichever city I find myself in. 4 stars is really to support the only aquarium in WA. I think the biggest disappointment is the size, you can very well cover the entire aquarium within 30 minutes if you really wanted to. Taking your time you’ll struggle to make it past an hour. However it’s clear with whatever they have they’ve done a good job, the underwater tunnel is a great experience, and there are a good variety of sea animals that are sure to perk your interest. I wish there were more exhibits for larger sea creatures but understand with the size restraints that would be difficult outside of the underwater tunnel. It’s not world class, but it’s not trying to be - and for a fun outing it’s worth a go, plus it’s next to Hillary’s so you can always go before/after a good lunch! Give it a shot and support our local aquarium! Hoping to see it grow in time!
With Hillary's Boat Harbor next door, there is plenty of parking BUT pick your day! School holidays can be crazy busy. The staff at AQWA are passionate about their work and it shows. The premises are kept clean and the animals well taken care of. A great experience for out of town visitors and locals alike.
Loved it! Bought my wife a behind the scenes tour for her birthday and she said it was amazing. Will most likely be buying a year pass
The floor manager at AQWA yesterday deserves 20 stars! I took my 91yr old Dad to AQWA yesterday - the experience was a bit overwhelming for him because he is not accustomed to the excited squeals of youngsters counting sharks and stingrays and genuinely having a great time in the tunnel. That lovely lady demonstrated REAL customer service, she saw that I was struggling with Dad and quietly sourced a wheel chair for us, personally led us to the restaurant and really went out of her way to make us feel glad to have visited AQWA. I commend her as being a wonderful ambassador of real West Australian care and hospitality.
I sincerely thank you and I hope many visitors to WA get the opportunity to visit AQWA and perhaps cross paths with you.
We love Aqwa. Only, I wish we didn't have to leave via the gift shop. My kids wanted everything lol
Love going to Aqua, amazing place especially for kids. I think there needs to be more employees supervising the touch pool, as alot of parents taking the animals out of the water for long periods of time.
Came on a whim as it had been a whilst, definitely very peaceful atmosphere maybe go during the week when it’s quieter. Weekend are busy and kids being kids can be quite annoying. They have toilets gift shop restaurant staff are great and it’s definitely a good few hours out.
This one truly not to be missed POI when you visit perth. My kiddo travelled 10600 miles to see irukandji jelly fish but this not available at this great aquarium. Staff was not helpful nor have idea about this jelly fish. Overall great experience every time we visit.
A fascinating journey amongst the under sea life of the WA coast. With no overseas tourists here at the moment, it is a great time for us locals to get to know our own coastline and sea life, without any large crowds. A great day out.
Such a wonderful experience for kids (and big kids). If we lived in Perth we would definitely get an annual pass. Brilliant rainy day kids activity.
Loved it, hubby had a snorkel experience too, very busy and a bit breezy in the cafe from guests coming in and out from the touch pool, cafe was efficient:)
A wonderful experience. Went with little grandchildren. Very busy but they loved every minute. Coral Reef section new since I was last there and really worth going into.
