Apollo Motorhome Holidays - Broome reviews
3 In Darwin we got really bad chairs and a bad table for our Apollo Euro Tourer. The rear tires also only had about 2 mm of tread. So they let us drive.
Both of these things were fixed immediately and without any fuss here in Broome. New tires and new chairs and table. I am totally thrilled and can now continue the trip without any concerns.
Got there on a hot day after travelling from cold Melbourne.
When I arrived Christina was there who was very friendly and promptly helped me complete my paperwork so I could be on the my way.
Thanks Team
AVOID IF POSSIBLE
We booked an Adventure Camper at Apollo for two months and while we spend over $16k AUD, we had a pretty bad experience with Apollo.
First of all, I want to point out, that the car itself (Toyota Hilux) was in pretty good, though the camping cabin was in a horrible condition.
⁃ the fridge was not fixed properly to the wooden cabinet. We were not able to drive on unsealed roads, otherwise the fridge would drop off and fall on the floor
⁃ the awning was broken and not usable, while travelling through the outback, having over 30 degrees celcius
⁃ the holder of the cabin door was broken
⁃ the mosquito net had holes
⁃ the paint of the wall from the drawer was bleeding into our clothes which did not came out
⁃ besides that, we had lots of cosmetic issues: the interior was not clean, ledges stood away of the drawers, etc.
In the first three weeks the Apollo service told us, that they could not help as we were travelling too remote. Therefore we needed to fix the fridge on our own, otherwise we could not drive any further, without damaging the fridge and the interior of the van. After three weeks we got an appointment at a repair shop, we got fixed some parts of the car, but still had some limitations, i.e. The awning was just adjustable with a screwdriver as the repairer did not know the brand.
When we returned our car, they told us that we would receive an appropriate compensation, but we had to discuss our refund in a lot of emails with the customer service over weeks and at the end we did not even get a 10% refund, taking into consideration, how much of our leisure time, we had to spend during our holiday.
While returning the car, the lady at the counter told us, that the campers often get returned in the late afternoon and are going to the next customer in the morning on the next day. With this procedure Apollo shows, that they are not even able to perform any quality checks of the car beside superficial cleaning. All fixes to the campers are made, while they are in the ownership of the customer. If you are lucky you can get a new and good car, otherwise be prepared to drive to a repairer and invest your private time and money, while travelling.
