Absolutely devastating experience with their child contact services. As a single father who is a dedicated, committed parent you are typecast before you even walk in the door.
Some tips I’ve now learnt to ensure you get some sort of non-bias observations in your supervision report to assist you in the reunification with your children are:

1) make no mistake, you are being watched and observed from the moment you get out of your car in their car park until you leave and are out of sight - anything you say and do will be reported and at times misquoted.
2) show as little emotion as possible as you can be reported as having low emotional awareness of your children.
3) outside of your supervised time with your children say as little as possible to the staff. Even though you are not in the presence of your children at the time- you will be reported on EVERYTHING you say and do.
4) If you are then still misquoted and are genuinely unhappy with your final report the complaints process will only deliver an outcome of standing by the report so points 1-3 are key.

I had an absolutely diabolical experience with a female counsellor. She was entirely unwilling to work with me in a collaborative manner. The way she behaved was completely unethical & improper. She seemed to think that she had the right to totally take over the session and run it as she saw fit. She even point blank refused to discuss a distressing letter that I'd been sent – I'd brought the letter with me to our session so I could discuss it with her. I reiterate: she point blank refused to discuss it; giving me excuses that amounted to me been treated like a child.

I'm wondering if the counsellors who work here are suitably qualified? That's a serious question – I'm not being rhetorical or facetious. I honestly wonder if they're suitably qualified. Precisely what training is required to be a counsellor at Anglicare?

I'd like to add for context that I've seen a variety of therapists over many, many years. From social workers, to clinical psychologists, to psychiatrists (some of whom were regarded as some of the best in Perth). Never before have I had an experience like I had at Anglicare – with the counsellor refusing to discuss what I wanted to discuss in a session. Furthermore, if (hypothetically) her supervisor had witnessed her appallingly unprofessional behaviour, in my opinion it would've been grounds for instant dismissal. Counsellors must always bear in mind that the clients who they see are frequently vulnerable, emotionally fragile people. Negative experiences like the one I had can cause tremendous distress and make it difficult to trust future counsellors.

Only went there for a query and got the answers I needed, found the person and staff I saw very friendly and very helpful.

I come here for councelling. They need more councellors. Its nuts. Theres such a long waiting time. Ive been waiting for three months now. They do a great service, but its a pain to have to wait for so long. Ill go mental before I see someone.

Very disappointed with how they handle the cases relating to Family court. No sympathy nor understanding at all. I don’t need to hear the words “I understand where you’re coming from, I understand what you’re saying”. I need to see you amending your faulty letter. You need to notice one wrong word from your letter could destroy a court case and you just simply don’t care. Unfortunately, no action taken to fix your mistake. Staffs were absolutely unhelpful regards to information.
Your work does not apply to the value and goal you’re advertising

I visiting kids last 3 months every fortnight for two hours in Kingsley Anglicare.

I met with Claire before start visitation process and she was amazing and very helpful person then honestly was not expected that much good hospitality than horrible and bad Relationship Australia experience. I was very impressed from first interaction end of intake interview:)

So, Just want to say thanks heaps all of them for helps, good communication, quick responses and smily and easy going helpful supervisors. Kids also were looking pretty happy too.

Thanks Anglicare!

Nice people who do try hard to help. I'm glad there are people in the community who do try to help others.
