张亮麻辣烫 Zhang Liang Malatang boxhill reviews
17Compared with the one from China, it just tastes not as good. Flavour was average, the sauce and vegetables were not top up in time. Lack of meat selections.
China’s no. 1 small spicy hot pot brand. So many soup bases, so many ingredients, so many sauces, so much flavour!
We tried:
Malatang Hotpot Soup
Ramen Noodles
Chinese Doughnut
Cheese Rice Cake
Enoki
Choy Sum
Shrimp Dumpling
Fish Tofu
Sliced Beef
Soy Bean Sheet
Tofu Skin
Hotpot is such a comfort food for me and it never disappoints! Zhang Liang had heaps of ingredients and their mouth numbing Malatang was spicy goodness. It costs $3.88 for every 100g and there are non-spicy soups or a stir-fried option for your pot. The soup was super flavourful and all the ingredients were cooked perfectly!
My friend and I ate here and got food poisoning. We all had stomachaches after eating from here. The service staff's attitude is very bad. They didn't answer every time we asked. Moreover, the food is always empty on the tray but it's never fully refilled.
Extremely rude staff with no respects to customers. Most of the things are not even fully cooked. The quantity served is outrageous. $50 dish looks like $10. Avoid this store at all costs
Lovely clean little restaurant with very nice decor. Good selection of items. Great variety of dipping sauces. The classic bone broth was delicious (especially if you like the numbing sensation of Szechuan peppers). Will be back
Excellent place to try if you like your malatang. Cheaper and no less tasty alternative to David's next door, and conveniently open for longer at night to allow those late night dinner dates or just to satisfy a craving for a hot, spicy and hearty meal in the cold of winter. Plentiful selection of ingredients and soup bases, though unfortunately no choice of spice level (there are non-spicy options but no choice of less or more spice). A standout in a crowded market.
The biggest disappointment.i didn’t put much in my bowl because i wasn’t very hungry, queued in line for 15 mins plus and once it was my turn to pay i was told i can’t because there’s not enough in my bowl.did not see any signs indicating there’s a minimum weight and the staff made me go back in line.put back all the stuff and left with an empty stomach.what a waste of time.
COMPLETE SCAM!
My partner and I have been here numerous occasions and always good experience.except today. Served by a girl at the counter who told my partner 4 times his hotpot weight was not enough, he kept adding things to accurate the weight it ended up being almost 650g & then he removed 2 things and it dropped down to 200g, she kept moving the bowl on / off the scale and adding extra weight & cost. We questioned her on what she was doing, she got worried and then removed the extra money from the total - she knew what she was doing trying to rip us off and show inequality to us because we’re Australian? We left our bowls at the counter and simply walked out, she didn’t say anything just stood there guilty. It was such an off putting experience and unfortunately I will never be returning. You lost some loyal customers due to this disgusting customer service. Still in shock to have been treated this way. 0/10 service. NEVER EVER again. The female staff member at the counter needs to be reprimanded for her disgusting behaviour.
Level 1 spicy and nothing else to choose from. For a place that serves Mala Tang, this is just unacceptable and boring.
Food selection is no different from their next door competitor.
I’ll definitely avoid this restaurant due to the sour face staff that is clearly not happy or willing to serve.
Some of the freshest ingredients I’ve seen in Malatang palaces in melb. I love that they have mushroom and tomato as their non spicy options too and love the idea of having a signature soup which isn’t too spicy to begin with and that you can add more spices/ chilli oil from the sauces bar to create the flavour you want. I will defs be coming back for sure
On April 8th, I ate the Mala Fragrant Pot at their house and I ordered another portion of rice, so I dug a bite of the rice at the bottom of the bowl and found that it was rancid. May I ask how long has the food in your store been kept? !The rice on the surface is fresh But the middle and bottom are rancid. Now the weather in Melbourne is cool, don't tell me that it will go rancid after a while. It must be a day or two or someone had been eaten before!
My husband and I always drive past this restaurant. We finally decided to give it a try this evening and we did not regret it at all! It has a good selection of meat, carbs and veggies. I get to eat everything I like which makes me so happy. It tastes really good! I got the mild spiciness and my husband got the medium spiciness. In my opinion, their mild spiciness is just right for me.
The restaurant was very clean, ingredients were fresh. Nice quality! Also, taste was nice even it was to-go container:) so nice!
The broth was very tasty; owner was very polite and friendly. They charge by weight of food you pick
As a big fan of mala, I have to try the soup kind of mala, and it wasn’t dissapointing, the cost was also affordable and the staffs were friendly.
This spicy hot pot is really bad. It's still delicious from the next door's spicy hot pot
They have a special soup base 'mushroom' which is not spicy nor salty, my favorite. And their price is quite reasonable.
