Yarra River Dragons Dragon Boat Racing Club

It’s a really friendly club and perfect if you’re looking for social or competitive dragon boat racing. The coaches are great and really help you improve. Coffee and brekkie after training is great too!

I have joined Yarra River Dragons (or YRD as they call it) last year in June. I have completed one full season with YRD. It was an absolute pleasure to start my paddling with the club. It's was my first time paddling but I never felt like a newbie. The club provided me with great support both on and off the water in terms of technique and strength training to become a strong paddler right from beginning to all way to the nationals. Yes you read that right. I had the opportunity to compete in Auschamps 2023 (National dragon boat championship) in my first season with YRD. YRD is one of the most competent clubs based in Melbourne. I am in to my second season and love it. If you ever want to try a new sport either as a hobby or in a competitive level, I highly recommend dragon boating as a sport and YRD as club to start with.

Its an amazing experience to be part of YRD.the efforts the coaches put into their work is extremely professional, and the members are loving family.

When I first arrived, I didn't know Melbourne had a dragon boating club. But thjs team pleasantly surprised me with the great supportive atmosphere and drive to succeed in their endeavours. Would highly recommend to try out.

After the come and try session on nice saturday morning, I know this is it. My favourite sport. I love the friendliness and professionalism of this team sport. Everyone were so welcoming and genuine. Highly recommended for anyone who want to try out. Best water sport!

I wasn't even aware Melbourne had a Dragon Boat team until my cousin's husband told me he was the assistant coach of CYSM Sea Dragons and asked if I wanted to trial for 3 free sessions. As soon as I arrived at the club, the energetic friendly vibe was immediately infectious. 3 Seasons in and I'm still loving this Club! The people and the support and care for each other is what still keeps me paddling:)
