Western Imaging for Women

I found Western Imaging for Women to be quite good, but unfortunately there are negatives I’d prefer to pass on, too. The reception staff were lovely, easy to talk to and accommodating. The sonographer I had my appointment with was able to explain everything she was doing very well, what she was noticing and how that related to my diagnoses or potential diagnoses. She was clearly very knowledgeable and answered all my questions with ease. She was even able to give me tips about what to do before ultrasounds like these in the future.

However, I will mention that I experienced quite a lot of pain during the procedure. The forms I’d filled out beforehand mentioned that transvaginal ultrasounds may be uncomfortable, but should not be painful. I was very clearly in pain at multiple points throughout the procedure but at no point was I asked if I wanted to stop, take a break etc. My GP recognised my medical history and had written some very relevant information in my referral which she assured me would mean that I was treated with absolute care. The sonographer had clearly not read this information as I needed to explain it to her before the ultrasound. When we addressed my pain during the procedure, she said that she’s requested to order different equipment, but ‘most women’ can handle this particular probe so an alternative hadn’t been ordered. While I recognise that she was trying to communicate that the effort had been made to accommodate, unfortunately knowing that I was in the minority left me feeling more ashamed and uncomfortable.

After the appointment, I had a fairly intense adrenaline come down from the experience and needed to spend some time in reception before driving. Again: the reception staff were very accomodating and non-judgemental that I needed to take this time.

I will also mention that I don’t necessarily recommend this particular practice for trans or gender diverse people. While it doesn’t necessarily exclude the LGBTQIA+ community, I think some inclusive posters, asking for pronouns and preferred names on forms, making the sustained effort to use phrases like ‘people with uteruses’ rather than women, etc.would be beneficial. It’s common for trans and gender diverse people to avoid certain medical care, so actively and consciously making the effort to be inclusive would go a long way in battling any discomfort people may experience on arrival.

Unfortunately, I've had a really poor experience coming here and would not recommend it to any woman who wants to be treated with respect. It's been extremely unpleasant in most aspects of interaction, and the reception staff in particular have been outright unprofessional - generally rude and dismissive, and visibly more kind to certain visitors over others. I'll be attending another imaging centre moving forward.

Bowen Salvas was the best throughout my ultrasound appointments - was always humorous which made me feel relaxed and comfortable. Received excellent service and results all round from this place and it's staff!

All the staff were lovely & professional.
The sonographer made us feel relaxed and guided us through our 21 week ultrasound.
It was obvious that he is a very experienced clinician.
I would absolutely go back to this clinic.
We left with big smiles on our faces!

We have used Western Imaging for both of our pregancies and can't speak highly of all the sonographies! They picked up a heart thing for my son at the 20 week scan and we were able to solve the issue through extra monitoring and scans! Thank you so much:)

Really lovely sonographers, my partner couldn't make one of our very early pregnancy appointments and they were kind enough to allow me to facetime him. The sonographer explained everything he was doing/ checking to my partner and answered all of our questions. Worth every penny. Plus I've never have to wait too long.

Shoutout to our fantastic Sonographer Bowen. Friendly, sensitive, highly informative and made us feel very comfortable. Wonderful experience, would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Went to Western Imaging to do all my pregnancy scans and I have to admit the most recent one completed at 21 weeks was the best. We had Marlon as the sonographer on the day, he took his time, went through everything with my husband and I and we felt he went above and beyond which is share these days. Would highly reccommend this place and converted my friends to go get their scans here.

I had an ultrasound today and had the best experience. We felt welcomed as soon as we walked in. Catherine was our sonographer and she took her time to go through the ultrasound and explained things in detail to my partner and I. We recommend Western Imaging highly:)

This place is honestly worth every penny. The team take their time, are vigilant, kind and very welcoming. You can tell they are all so amazing at their jobs.

Fantastic experience, super friendly and great at what they do! The staff make you feel super comfortable, informed and taken care of. After going elsewhere for my previous pregnancy ultrasounds, switching to this place was seriously the best decision.

Best ultrasound with technology and staff specialized solely for obstetrics. This means that you will feel reassured you and your baby are provided with the best imaging possible. Shoutout to Bowen!

Visited WIFM for my pregnancy scan today. Bowen our Sonographer was very kind and friendly. He made us feel comfortable and took his time to explain everything in detail. Would highly recommend.

Great service! I had my scans and the NIPT test. I recieved high quality of service and great professional advice that made me feel so happy and supported during my pregnancy.

Sonographer Bowen was fantastic with us. Comprehensive knowledge, detailed explanations, extremely friendly, sensitive, caring, took his time did not rush anything and made poor jokes. Would highly recommend anyone to book with him.

Having my ultrasounds here has been one of the best pregnancy decisions I've made. And wasn't even my decision really - my GP referred me when I had some potential issues crop up early on.

The difference between the scans I've had here and the one I had done elsewhere is night and day. Staff are all so friendly and the knowledge levels are outstanding. We got so many little extras from our scans that we didn't expect, and never once left with questions or worries that were unanswered.

Also found the process of doing the NIPS test was great - all the potential results were explained to us so thoroughly beforehand.

Have loved sharing the videos with family, and have appreciated all the special care that was taken during this time of covid.
