Welive for Hotpot & Sake bar reviews
24Best sukiyaki hotpot in Melbourne! Trust me. I have tried every sukiyaki hotpot in Melbourne. They either only have pasteurised egg yolks instead of the whole egg or wagyu is sliced in a way that hard to chew. This restaurant is the best. Also, the chef is talented and new dishes are always worth trying. Highly recommend to everyone!
We didn't get the hotpot but had a mixture of small dishes and a rice bowl. Amazing flavours with high quality ingredients for an affordable price. The unagi tasted just like it did in Japan. They had a seasonal menu worth trying as well.
My partner and I recently ate at this place for dinner and were happy for the most part with our food. However we’re quite disappointed by the price and it seemed like it was not worth the portion given, especially the meat.
The hotpot soup base was quite small and the sauces seemed to just come out of the fridge cold.
Another thing we needed to point out was the “solo” experience vibe of this restaurant.
This solo experience is clearly based off of the solo experience you can get in Japan, basing off Ichiran restaurants. Where you order off of a machine and there is almost absolutely no service with staff which is the whole point.
I believe WELIVE tries to apply this same approach to the solo experience, by having the singular booths to sit, and the curtain to seperate staff and customers, however in our opinion this doesn’t quite work. In our time there we got staff constantly pulling open the curtain and asking us what we needed to order and or how our meals were, which is appreciated but again missing the whole point. We were expecting a “solo” experience as advertised.
I believe our experience overall was average but happy for the most part and we were expecting a different experience going into it.
Love the setup and the idea especially for a solo diner! Food was great and very flavourful
A hair came out of the pot. So I got a 10% discount and paid $63.76.
Soup was too sweet and amount of meat was small. Expensive
Very overpriced for what you are getting. Also asked whether they had free tap water and said the only water they had we had to pay for ($7). As a licensed venue, you would think they would have to supply free water under state law.
Had the worse hot pot experience of my life. The food only start coming out after 40 mins (mind you, each session is meant to be 90 mins long). Even at the 90 minutes mark, 1/3 of my orders never came out and I had to ask for the bill. There were bug in my tea.
The food quality is similar to haidilao quality. However, if you consider the prices and services, it’s definitely not worth it. The sessions after us definitely had to wait at least 30 mins, since no one in the first session received all their food by the 90 minutes mark.
I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1, because the staff apologised for the horrible service (lack of staffs) and gave us 5% discount.
Not Japanese shabu shabu like I expected, it’s more like Chinese hotpot with Japanese flavours.
We were seated at the row closest to the entrance, and it was freezing, as the open door creates a tunnel effect so it is windy. But once we started cooking, it was fine.
The soup bases are okay, we had the tomato soup and chef’s special.
The wagyu beef, expensive and small quantity, however very tasty and tender! The dishes are on the smaller portion size, designed to be eaten by one person. It’ll cost over $50 per person to feel full. We had a very satisfying experience nonetheless, the wagyu is too good!
The price is not cheap
If you don't consider the price, the quality of the meat here is really good (If I remember correctly, they use cast iron pots to let customers cook their own sukiyaki)
One person's space! Take a beautiful picture of your social media! Enjoying delicious sukiyaki It's amazing and fresh, even if you're not alone, you can still enjoy it with a group of best friends or family. Come here to experience when you have spare money
A fun and innovative concept for hotpot with very friendly service. Food is fresh and presented with great care - highly recommend the sashimi and karaage chicken.
This was honestly one of the best meals I’ve had in my entire life, that broth is spectacular. I live in Brisbane but definitely would go back to Melbourne for this alone.
Thus may be more pricey then other hotspots but this is the whole experience. Best for singles or couples. And the booth serves experience is charming and easy. And the wishing wall is the best. ENJOY!
Super friendly staff. Food was delicious, super efficient service, very happy with our time here.
Great service and food is very yum but $49.80 for a single hotpot set with only 4 slices of wagyu is way too pricey… not to mention the 15% surchage on a normal weekend. Overall we spent $80 each person but still felt hungry.
The place aesthetically look really nice. Feels like authentic Japanese! The decorations were nice too! I really do like the concept, eating in peace without anyone bothering you or interacting you while you eat at your own pace. On the day we went, there were a lot of options I want to try but not available on this day which was disappointing. Expect to pay high prices too! It does get pricy with so many options to choose from and especially when you want to eat everything. We spent total of 100$ after the 30% discount on the fork. Weekends +15% service tax. If you want to save some money bring cash (5% discount) and go on weekday. Booking is recommended!
The best hotpot in town. The chicken broth is amazing! Definitely will return for another round in this chilly weather!
Almost 400 dollars like drop into the sea, awful terrible disgusting experience. I even cannot use the word to describe this disgusting meal.
BEST hotpot ever seriously, we had a wonderful time at this hearty place, food was nice and we really appreciate the staff member’s attention to detail!
Fantastic service and food. Would recommend for anyone. Come here time and time again and the quality of food and service never disappoints. 10/10
The food was good and their range of soups were great. The group table was fairly small which proved an issue when the food came in. The prices were fairly high. We averaged about $85 per person. Overall, would go there again. Although we may try other places first instead.
