Waxed

Went for a brazilian wax here and it was the worst wax I have ever had, the technician was awful. Seemed like a really nice person but had no idea what she was doing and was very distracted the whole appointment, didn't hold my skin taut at all and ripped the wax off slowly and in a very staggered way. She repeatedly put the hot wax over areas she had done multiple times which caused skin to rip off in very sensitive areas as well as still missing huge patches. Overall really disappointed with the outcome, and worried that this will cause further health issues while recovering.

I was in a real pickle after my beautician of 10+ years decided to shut up shop. I tried a couple of the Waxed salons and a few different beauticians until I finally found Yvonne at Balaclava! Nothing compares to experience and from the moment I started seeing Yvonne, I received an efficient, hygienic and painless service every single time. She is extremely accommodating, always goes the extra mile for her clients, has exceptional taste in 90s TV (!) and is just a wonderful human. I’ve been going to her for over 6 years now and will never go anywhere else.

My lash lift cost a fortune and was totally ineffective. I was booked for a lift and tint at 5: 20. I got there at 5: 30 having let them know I was running late. I was told I wouldn’t have time for the tint (no problem) but by 6: 05 I was done with the lift and sent off to leave. Unfortunately the lift did not take at all and had no impact. I have tried calling repeatedly to discuss but to no avail. I’m so disappointed as I was really looking forward to this treat.

Just saw the lovely Naomi. First time back after lockdown. Brazilian wax was perfect, painless and easy. And Naomi was so friendly and warm, I just loved chatting to her so much! This was my first time at the Balaclava salon, as I used to go to the Malvern location, but I am always so confident booking any therapist at any Waxed salon because they only hire the best. I’ve been going to Waxed for years and always find the best service each and every time. Thank you so much, what a wonderful team of professionals.

I have been using their services for over a year now but the last time i took an eye brow wax appointment, they ripped off my eyebrow from the middle and advised me that i already had my eyebrow like that. This has been such a shocker service for me, i have never had my eyebrows ripped off like this. They asked me not to pay, but that doesnt return back my eyebrow. Highly disappointed

They did a shocking job of my “lash lift and tint”. It was so painful and uncomfortable, my eyes were stinging most of the time and are still stinging long afterwards. She was really forceful with the perming and kept pulling my eyes open a little bit so the chemicals would seep through and into my eyes. There was still glue on my eyelashes and dye smudged all around my eyes when it was finished. There was no one around to talk to afterwards so I felt forced to just cop the $100 bill because the person who did the service clearly didn’t care, despite me telling her that I was in pain and squirming around the whole time. I’ve had a lash lift and tint done elsewhere so I know it’s not meant to be anything like that.

At 39 weeks pregnant I made my appointment for my final wax before my baby arrives. I drove 30mins to get to the Balaclava salon, and whilst on the way was courteous enough to call to say I was running 5-10mins late maximum due to traffic. The kind lady on the phone said that wasn't an issue at all. Arriving 8mins past my appointment time, the girl in the salon was completely dismissive, saying I was too late and she was no longer going to serve me. I was visibly upset and even after explaining I tried my best to call regarding being slightly delayed, and did she get the message, the girl at the store confirmed she did get that message but I would now need to wait 1.5hrs if I still wanted to be seen. Clearly not ideal or able to happen at this late stage of pregnancy due to appointments etc. As a loyal customer, I called the Elsternwick branch, made an appointment and was served there, however, the irony was that the beautician actually ran 8-10mins past my appointment time there! Different rules when it comes to clients vs staff being delayed. The Elsternwick salon team were lovely and accommodating. I will never go back to Balaclava however and out of principle, "Waxed" as a brand has now lost myself, my sisters and 6 of my girlfriends who used them every month!

Went in for a bikini Tassie wax (easily booked online) and while I trust this franchise and their cleanliness standards, I found the shop to be quite dirty; more so than my public gym! Since it was my first (!) wax ever, I did a lot of reading into what to expect. While my waxer was very nice, accommodating to my questions, and made me feel very comfortable. I could only counted 2 steps in the “6 step, Waxed waxing process. ” Also, I had lots of spots that were missed / the leftovers shape was not great. Overall it was pretty good for my first wax and I will be back now that I’ve touched based with Waxed but maybe I’ll try another one of their franchises in the city.

I have been waxing at the Balaclava salon for over 2 years and I've never had a negative experience. All the therapists I have met are professional and friendly and use natural good quality products. A special thank you to Sofia who made time for me even after a mix up with the booking to get me ready before my trip. I have never seen anyone wax that fast and well at the same time! Thank you so much. Highly recommend this salon.

Always had a good experience apart from the last 2 visits where the same girl compromised hygiene and my back broke out in a distressing rash
