Warung Kartini reviews
19Warung Kartini caters as well. We ordered a selection for a birthday. Today was our 2nd time. Arrived to pickup at appointed time & food was ready. Tasty.
I usually visit Neleyan and Indosari if I need my beef rendang fix. Tried WK for the first time today, the beef is really really soft (stew like), wet and spicier than what I am used to. I prefer my rendangs abit tougher and dry.
Having said that, it's an individual thing.
This place is hands down the best Indonesian I've had in Australia. The flavours of the food are incredible and the staff are so nice. Highly recommend!
Had the Balinese Jimbaran Seafood meal for 3-4 people, and was absolutely fantastic, like eating in Bali. Food quality was absolutely authentic and well presented. The owner mentioned that they have weekly specials posted on their Instagram page, so worth checking it out before ordering. Satay lilit was better than the ones I had in Bali!
Best Indonesian food in Oakleigh. The beef rendang is the best anywhere. Pork belly is delicious and the Terong belado is tasty and very hot.
Made an online order on their website today because I thought restaurant was open on Tuesdays. Their system accepted the online order. Went to Oakleigh to collect food at the designated time, only to discover that restaurant was closed. So disappointed. Wasted my time & energy.
The food are superb, the ribs so tender and juicy, the vegetables in tamarind base soup was so delicious very authentic. Unfortunately it may closed down soon. You have to try at least once before it close down.
It's a very pleasant dinner experience, excellent food and combined with extra ordinary services. Would love to come again next time and highly recommended.
Good food but have to wait 1 hour exactly to get your food. Need extra patience to eat here. So better coming not when you are really hungry
The restaurant was near the station and facing the park. Very good view. Also the service was great, I had to wait extra minutes for my Nasi Uduk but they informed me why and apologized, I appreciated it. The food itself is great and the portion is huge depending on what you get. Definitely a must go!
What a great place.
The food from the menu here is fantastic.
If the menu is not quite perfect for you the staff will ask for requests.
Couldn't ask for much more
Warung Kartini, one of the latest Indonesian restaurant which opened late last year. Finally went there to try the food last Sunday. Located in Oakleigh, not too far from the station.
The service was chaotic - way too slow (there were 5-6 staff working in the kitchen) and dishes delivered to wrong tables.
Their special noodles was pretty good, however the chilli sauce provided was not spicy at all and tasteless.
Will I come back? I don't think so, there are other Indonesian places with better tastes.
Dear Warung kartini, first you need to tell your customer or put sign if you only accept CASH. After we had breakfasting the other day, the bill was $50+ and my wife is going to pay by card then the owner said “our eftpos machine is running out the paper” LOL and said again to her “do you have combank mobile app so you can transfer to my account? ” (You’re kidding man)
You keep trying to push her to pay by cash or need to go to Oakleigh station to get cash. It doesn’t work like that because you have etfpos machine and you hide it.
Food is okay, serve is really slow (more than 4 people in the kitchen but serve is still slow) service was nice because owner was there when I went but he pushed to hard about his special order, it’s like I have to order what he offered to me and didn’t let me think for a minute to decide what I want to order.
Will I come back? No thank you.
Very friendly service and great food.
The waiter explained all the specials in detail and I was lucky enough to order nasi campur Bali. It was very typical for Bali (not just the Indonesian version of the dish)
We visited this place late afternoon, and ordered their specialties, Nasi Liwet and grilled fish, together with chicken barbecue.
The nasi liwet tasted good, and I love the spicy eggplant and beef rendang. It just simply delicious. However, the rice is bit cold when it was served. They could make it warm a bit to make it even better.
The grilled fish, was not as my expectation. I expected fresh fish grilled, and the meat was still firm.however, they cooked the fish before they grilled, and the result was mushy, even it tasted good.
The chicken satay, however, is not good at all. It was tasteless and dry. Maybe because they cut it in big chunk, and it seemed they did not marinate enough.
Service, may be because we came during peak hours, was slow.
Food was good but the service can be a bit slow.
If the male owner was there then the service is a 5 star. However they would still need to learn how to serve foods faster, especially during peak hour.
There are lots of variety of foods however the taste were all almost similar. We got bored after the 2nd visit.
The supposedly their signature dish "roast pork belly" was rather too dry to my liking.
Edit:
I gave them 3 stars before but our 3rd visit was a disaster. Ordered seafood fried rice for take away, there are no seafood at all in the rice and it taste very blend.
The service was also went free fall not downhill.
Thats it, will never come back.
We had lunch on sunday, service was really good. We ordered nasi goreng kampung (average & reasonable portion), bakmi ayam spesial (tasty), ice cendol (average), sate babi (average), crispy wonton skin with salted eggs (very tasty). Restaurants vibe is cosy, we enjoyed our visit and will come back in the future
Food is pretty good, the bakmi ayam was very authentic and the satay was delicious! The only thing I'd say is that it's a little pricey for the size of the servings. Would definitely go back!
Dishes authentic especially the sate babi, bakmie ayam, nasi goreng, risoles, etc. Yummy! Definitely coming back
