Waku Waku - Hokkaido Soup curry reviews
43Great food and especially loved the Waku Wake Roll and grilled squid, full of flavor and really authentic, will definitely return. Hokkaido Soup Curry Melbourne
Cosy atmosphere with a good and fast service, The Grilled Squid is an unexpected tasty, I strongly recommend the Fried Chicken Rice Cake next time. Also with soup!
Extremely satisfied with the Fried Chicken Rice Cake with soup, Friendly staff, fresh drinks! Amazing vibe! Definitely come back for more with my friends, always Japanese takeaway Southbank!
Just found out about this place while we were doing groceries. Fried pork Katsu were on point! This is the closest Hokkaido curry soup we can find, the broth is thick and tasty umami!
Would definitely come back here again.
Small japanese joint located underneath apartment complex with Woolworth around the corner. We tried the Hokkaido Soup Curry for the first time here and it was quite pleasant. It's not like the Japanese curry that we knew, its closer to a more south Asian style kind of curry. All the chicken in all 3 dishes are juicy and cooked well. Price is a little expensive but worth the try at least once!

Delicious Japanese food! Highly recommend ordering the soup curry! Definitely the highlight! But everything else was also super yummy! Perfect for a lunch or dinner date!
With a sushi chef from Komeyui, Waku Waku newly opened in Southbank with a diverse Japanese inspired menu that’s bound to satisfy.
Whilst not strictly authentic Japanese, we found all our dishes simply tasty and satisfying. Most notably, the Sushi and Sashimi Set were a definite standout in quality and freshness, while the rich, creamy Ramen broth was absolutely irresistible.

Love the Waku Waku Roll, the new dish, the service, cosy and small restaurant but it was still a nice experience with friends in Japanese restaurant Southbank
This was a wonderful find when I had a late night.the Mobo Tofu with Crispy Chicken Donbury with grilled squid was as close as the one I remember so well when I was in Japan. Japanese restaurant Southbank is a great experience for me!
Best as always! If you love good food, have to give a try the Mobo Tofu with Crispy Chicken Donbury!
This is my first time ate the Spicy Tuna Roll, it is kind of spicy, but not that much. After I ate two of them, I felt addict to it, probably will come back tomorrow after jogging. Btw, Japanese takeaway Southbank always takeaway your food during the Covid!
There are soooo many Japanese restaurants in Melbourne, the competition just keeps getting better and better, resulting in the top Mobo Tofu with Crispy Chicken Donbury and Fried Chicken Rice Cake Kimchi from all corners, love it! Japanese restaurant Southbank!
Waku Waku pleases with super delicious Japanese favourites. The restaurant itself is unassuming but venture in and be rewarded with thoroughly delicious food.
To start, the sashimi and sushi platter was a stand out. We loved the exceedingly fresh fish. The gyoza and charcoal fried chicken was similarly delicious
For mains the Angus don was a true highlight. Think perfectly cooked sous vide beef served with fluffy rice and 65 degree egg encasing oozy yolk. The iconic Hokkaido curry also met our expectations admiringly.
Waku Waku is great casual restaurant that is sure to please.
Great service and good food. I particularly enjoyed the waku waku roll and the tempura with the amazing dressing. Overall i recommend Waku Waku. Went there a second time and absolutely loved the food especially the rolls and the Donbury. The ramen were also delicious and great service too.
Enjoyed both the soups and Fried Chicken Rice cake. The soup base was good, and I really enjoyed the Grilled squid. Making me think about the new series of Squid Game. It is small and welcoming, Both if you are a couple or just having a table for one. I will be back to try the Fried Chicken Rice Cake Kimchi next time, a good Japanese restaurant in Southbank for sure!
What great food here. We tried a variety of dishes and had to try their Hokkaido soup curry. The soup is so aromatic and full of flavour. Firstly choose a topping, curry base then the level of spiciness.
The softness of the inside yet crispy layer of the angus beef croquet which was impressive and paired well with the silky truffle mayo.
The sashimi was tender but slightly stringy. I did love the tonkotsu ramen that was served with a side of grilled pork ribs. The lightness of the broth with the soft noodles was complimented with the sweet, tangy ribs.
Mobo Tofu with Crispy Chicken Donbury is the best! Beautiful food! Best Japanese food I’ve had. Would highly recommend Waku Waku. Service was great too!
Beautiful food, amazing service & fabulous that they could cater for any dietaries. We'll be back.
Yummy Japanese food at an affordable price in southbank! I am almost a weekly customer of them, always happy after eating their meals. Amazing owners, great service, always freshly prepared awesome tasty meals. Reasonable prices too.
The service at this Japanese soup curry Melbourne was exceptionally great! The food came quickly and the waiter was very friendly. I ordered Fried Chicken Rice Cake Kimchi and Mobo Tofu with Crispy Chicken Donbury, both were perfectly seasoned and were just the right amount of spiciness. It was satisfying and filling! Highly recommended if you are in the area.
