Wa Sushi Japanese Dine-in/Takeaway

Food was good but VERY expensive. My partner and I spent $51.84 for the two of us ($25.92 per person) on takeaway which we picked up ourselves and we felt like we were only given enough food for one person, plus 2 cans of coke. We wouldn’t go back as the price was out of our comfort zone. Knowing the portion sizes, we’d have to spend $80 for the two of us to feel full, and that’s not using a food delivery service which would cost extra. If the prices were lowered significantly, we would definitely go back.

My 3rd time bck after noticing this place. I got the Seared salmon roll, so fresh, it was made to order on the spot. Incredibly good. Must try sushi and sashimi. Yes, go try it.

Always drive pass the shop, look so dark with no many customer. BUT THEY DO nice sushi! Can't believe a small shop can do such a nice sushi!

So happy we found this place! It’s one of the best sushi places I’ve had in Melbourne. Fish incredibly fresh and cut to the perfect size. Rice in the nigiri was perfection. Have been coming back often and would highly recommend to anyone in the area. Owner is very friendly. He’s the one making the sushi, and has clearly perfected his craft.

Super good sushi in Melbourne! It's done at the right size (not the super fat sushi elsewhere), very fresh ingredients and tasty. I would say it's authentic and high standard! Keep it up Wa Sushi. You're my go to sushi place now yay!

Just dropped in for a quick sushi hand roll as I was driving by… they made them fresh, and they were delicious!

Got a take away large sashimi and nigiri set for myself and the missus and a sushi roll for my little daughter. It is a LOT of food and the quality is fantastic. Very fresh and the fish comes at the perfect temperature. My daughter also loved her sushi roll, overall highly recommended and I love that you can get this quality way out here in the eastern suburbs.

EDIT: in hindsight it’s not terrible so I’ll give it a 4. In my mind it’s a 3.7 to be exact.

Was excited to try out the sushi here but a little let down by the quality/presentation.

The fish to rice ratio is a bit off. The fish barely covers the top of the rice and the rice was a little on the dry side. We were given heaps of the white fish which was not ideal!

Perhaps the quality has dropped off over time. If you take a look at the pictures from 8months ago, the difference is noticeable!

I’ve had better sushi at chains like maguro in the glen!

Please work to keep up the quality, it’s easy to let it slide!

Lovely little place. The 3 of us had a quite dinner there. The unagi roll is amazing, enjoyed by our 4yo. The sashimi was fresh, served not too cold which is good. It doesn't have the wow factor as what we had in Japan, but better than lots of "Japanese restaurants" here. The chef (owner?) was friendly. It took a while for our food to be made but we knew everything was made freshly. Would definitely go again, keen to try the other rolls.

Was excited to try this place given all the raving reviews so was a little let down with the large sashimi platter. Maybe we’re the exception but found it average.

By far the best sushi I have had! We got one of the teri rolls and an assorted Nigiri for 2 of us and everything was absolutely perfect. I would say that I'd probably get at least one more roll next time for 2 people. The price is reasonably expensive but is absolutely worth every cent! The staff were very kind and the service was stellar! Will definitely be returning!

Fresh sashimi and sushi, rice has just the right amount of vinegar and chewiness.
Great to find a new local place.
Price is slight high however food quality is great.
