The teacher was great. I got alot out of the lessons. Cant faukt the lessons themselves, when they actually happened.

My overall experience, however, was poor. Lesson times changed every week, or were cancelled completely. On one occasion, I showed up for my lesson and found the place closed. Nobody thought to tell me the lesson had been cancelled. But, I liked my teacher and got great value from the lessons, so persisted. But when my teacher left the St Kilda school, I decided to cancel all my future lessons and go somewhere else. I was shocked when I was told that VSA doesn't provide refunds, despite there being a legal obligation to do so. This is very clearly covered consumer protection laws. I eventually did get a refund, after having to alert them to tge relevant consumer protection laws, and after several phone calls. I was shocked that staff had to get CEO approval to fulfil a statutory obligation.

Lessons were great.

Professional was abysmal.

I’ve had 10 lessons with Emily so far and the experience has been extraordinary! Emily is very strategic and detail oriented in regards to guiding me through the voice training process. She knows where my problems are and gives clear instructions that help me improve very fast. She also records exercises for me on each lesson, which I find them extremely easy to follow and very useful for daily practice. She is also very knowledgeable regarding music theory and music composition. I’ve benefitted a lot from her as I needed help with all these elements to get ready for my audition. I highly recommend her for people who wants to improve their singing skills, no matter if you are a music professional or a beginner.

I have worked off and on with Vox for around 6 years, and can say my singing has dramatically improved across this time. As a metal singer I employ a number of techniques; screaming, growling and melodic singing and Peter has been fantastic in helping me hone these skills in the safest manner possible. If you are willing to do the work, you will benefit greatly from his teachings!

Emily is an amazing teacher and, in just a few short weeks, I already know more about my voice than I ever did. Thank you Emily! Thank you Vox!

I have had two lessons with Emily so far and I could not be any happier. Emily is kind, patient, and very clear in her teaching style. Before lessons with Emily, I didn’t know how to correctly active and breathe through my diaphragm, and what exercises to use to improve my ability to do so. Emily explains things very clearly and uses great practical examples that have greatly assisted me in achieving my singing goals so far. I look forward to continuing my journey with Emily and highly recommend her to anyone wanting to learn or improve their skills, regardless of singing level or experience

I have just started with Emily and being a reserved 50 something took me 4 months to act on a Xmas voucher. Emily found a way to make me instantly comfortable with her knowledge and good humour. I’m enjoying the lessons and would encourage other folks similarly reserved to seek Emily out. She’s Fabulous and a credit to the Vox academy!

I’ve been with Vox Singing Academy, taking lessons from Peter Vox for two years. As a mature band player, I wanted to make a stronger contribution to the bands vocals. Peter not only taught me the correct techniques (breathing, phrasing, dynamics) but understands the subtle nuances in melodies very well. Peter inspires a great sense of confidence and trust in his students. I can highly recommend Peter and the Vox Singing Academy and their method.

Great experience learning from Emily. Her knowledge of singing is amazing. She helped me sound improve a huge amount. I developed enough skills to be confident enough to take the stage for the first time.

I am a performance artist and signed up for singing lessons with Emily because I wanted to better incorporate singing and voice work into my practice. Initially I came to Emily for lessons because free online tutorials were not enough to target the specific needs I had. I’d never taken voice lessons before but had a hunch to sign up and give it a try. I’ll forever be grateful I had.

After just one lesson with Emily, there was significant improvement — which has only continued to be the case every time I work with her! Each lesson we build on skills from the previous week at a challenging (but manageable) pace. I have been taking lessons with her once a week for 6 months now and feel more confident with my voice and excited to continue to learn more. To anyone who is interested in singing and wondering if they should take lessons I would advise: yes, absolutely!

If you have ever wanted to learn to sing, regardless of the reason, whether it is just casually or you want to really make a go of it, this is the place to go. Emily is a fantastic teacher and has always made me feel welcome and comfortable, which was half the battle for me. 10/10 always recommend!

I started with no experience in singing at all, and was too ashamed to sing in front of other people. Emily has been incredibly friendly and patient, and is amazing at explaining techniques.

I've had about 10 lessons, and even though my pitch is still off, and my range isn't very wide, I felt confident enough to sing in front of others for the first time in my life (and no tomatoes were thrown).

After a neurological trauma I have had difficulties with my pitch (ear/voice coordination), which is devastating if you're singing for a living:) Been training with Peter for the past 6 months, and have had a few intensive sessions with Ryan, too. Both vocal coaches are wonderful and caring humans, and excellent singing teachers with great work ethics.

Peter's lessons are very fast-paced. As a vocal coach he's straight to the point, and encourages questions and being present. In Peter's singing class I always feel heard, my concerns addressed, and general vocal rehabilitation was swift and consistent. I notice voice improvements across the board - pitch, stability, range, power. My confidence on stage and in recording studio are completely restored:)

Ryan is, possibly, the warmest human being I have ever trained with! He is instantly likeable, good-natured guy, who manages to sneak enormous amount of serious vocal training into what feels like hanging out with a friend. Stays entirely focused on a student at all times. During each session with him I received so much useful feedback! I cannot recommend Ryan highly enough.

The studio itself is minimalist yet well-appointed with everything necessary, accommodates both individual and group vocal lessons. Waiting space with couches and inspirational posters of past students, too:)

I have been learning with Emily since she started at Vox (St Kilda) and can say she is an amazing teacher and person! She has given me the confidence to believe in myself, my abilities and my voice. She is understanding and encouraging yet firm and gives direction. She's has a technical scale or practice for every area you may be struggling in or that needs improving. I always have fun in my lessons and come away with a page full of notes and a smile. I can't wait to see where her lessons take me! Thanks Emily and Vox!
