Unquestionably, getting the Pronunciation Clarification sessions with Voice Science was my best investment of 2022. English is my foreign language. My name is Nat and I teach English as a second language in Spain. I am always looking for methods and opportunities to improve my speaking skills as English is not my native language. I have lived, worked and studied in England for a couple of years and I have attended different pronunciation courses as part of my university studies. However, I wasn’t satisfied with the methodology employed. I never believed in mimicking nor repetition as those tasks did not make easy how to pronounce specific sounds. Moreover, I wasn’t good at identifying the differences between specific phonemes until I was introduced to the world of phonetics. That made a huge difference. Still… that was not enough. After doing some research online, I came across Voice Science. I loved how Sarah described the course, her methodology and in particular I felt lucky because I was in front of the perfect profesional. Sarah’s background, experience and teaching skills is the combination of what allowed me to pronounce key sounds I was not able prior to the meeting sessions with her. Achieving that in a session after years trying to learn them by using other methods felt like magic.

I particularly love that the course is aimed at adults as we learn in a different way than children; this is another key point in Sarah’s methodology. Finally, Sarah gives you the tools to become an independent learner and you have tasks to do between sessions. After an elocution program with Sarah at Voice Science, I successfully changed my career and landed a dream job at the most prestigious company in the field. Whilst a lot of work went into that, the program from Voice Science certainly helped and it entirely changed what I knew, and how I thought, about using one’s voice. Even the Cadenza platform, which I initially l thought might have been somewhat of a gimmick, provided the backbone to drive my knowledge and behaviours forward after the one-on-one sessions. The insight and learnings are simply things you will never pick up on or come across outside of something like a speech pathology degree, and having an upbeat and incisive expert analyse and advise on my completely personalised concerns was amazing. And considering so much of what I learned about how to use voice can easily extend beyond my professional life and into my personal life (and for the rest of my life!), the value I see from my sessions is undoubtedly money well spent from just a purely educational perspective. Having enabled a life-changing career on top of that, it becomes invaluable! I will say though that of course you will need to put in the work like anything else, and regularly practice the exercises to instil the change in speaking behaviours you are after. Ultimately, what Voice Science provided me was such a niche and highly valuable service, and I can’t recommend it enough to anyone looking for that subtle yet powerful edge to lift their business persona and career.

I feel more empowered and more heard thanks to Voice Science. It is a top-notch service that has improved the quality and projection of my voice, and in the process some of my articulations have improved drastically.

Due to my trilinguist and a half background and the non-speaking of English at home causing an uneven, croaky and intermittent harshy voice, I have received an individualized voice quality training over the sessions. The training was based on the Voice Performance Communication Audit before starting the sessions.
