Vintage Garage / Retropolis reviews
57One of the best vintage stores known to man. I take my dad regularly who was born in the early 1950s. It takes him back quite a bit. I, myself am a regular and most always purchase something when I go. Stock turns over regularly and a lot is quite good quality.
Although it has its fair share of interesting clothes, the prices are ridiculous, I'm assuming from the rent they must pay. Still, it's fun to look at.
A real kaleidoscope of all sorts including furniture but also clothes, curios, art and collectibles. Fair amount of quality MCM pieces and kitchenware.
I had the loveliest experience on Saturday afternoon at Retropolis. I received so much help prior to actually turning up, by calling on the phone enquiring about an outfit. The staff were so kind in helping me out and had already put together the outfit for me when I arrived! Very very good service and great atmosphere! Thanks Retropolis!
Love this place. It's pricey, but you won't find another store like it in Melbourne.
Melbourne vintage Mecca.
Huge range, well organised and labelled. Some doof gear, but mostly great condition vintage clothing.
Good vintage store that's worth a look but much better value in the Furniture/Objects than the clothes I available.
I do understand people need to make money of their vintage wear but honestly I spent most of the time with the Menswear knowing where I could get better items for much lower prices online.
Interesting very overpriced. 2nd hand pleasers shoes in not great condition were $50 cheaper the brand new.
Don't go. You will spend money you don't have on things you don't need. Does it bring me joy? Yes. Does it bring regret? Not enough to stop. Yes, you do need that pair of sparkly cowboy boots. Do it.
Wonderful place to visit. We were very impressed by the variety available, and the shop itself had a great quirkiness about it.but extremely overpriced compared to other vintage shops like Waverley Antiques, Vintage 2.0, and Hunted etc.
I bought 1 item and was disappointed with the sales assistant who ignored me the whole time while processing my payment. She continued a conversation with another employee the entire time she was serving me.
I can only assume the staff are stall holders who may not have sales or customer service experience.
I even said thank you to the lady once she finished processing my payment, and was completely ignored.
I might visit again, but I would rather visit better priced and friendlier antique shops first.
Fabulous but pricy. This is not your typical OP shop, it has an incredible vintage vibe, lots of new "vintage style" clothes, accessories and furniture. Everything is beautiful and high quality, hence the price. Just have to know what to expect.:)
Such an awesome selection of goodies! Prices are what you'd expect for retro goods, staff were lovely! Huuuuge building, lots of beautiful mid century furniture
A great place to explore and go back in time. If you spend a bit of time here your sure to find something great. Go with friends and make it a day filled with laughter and fun.and empty wallets.
This is definitely not an OP shop and those who are anticipating OP shop prices will be disappointed.
This is a stunning collection of retro and vintage clothes, costumes and bric-a-brac. Everything is expertly curated with as much information about each item as the shop owners have been able to collect.
If you always wanted a big fluffy coat in pastel blue and another in pink, this is the place for you. If you collect unboxed toys like Barbie it's worth seeing what they have. If you want a costume or outfit that is dressed with nearly a kilogram of sequins, you won't be disappointed. Alternately if you just want a walk through somewhere fascinating, that works too.
Expect prices to start above $80 for any item, I'm sure there are items that cost less than that, but it's good to be appropriately prepared.
Awesome selection of late 20th Century items. Fantastic selection of clothes and accessories. Will not disappoint.
Hate giving one star, as most of the staff are fabulous and kind. Great store with great taste of vintage glamour. However, I was served by one older male shop assistant with blonde hair, Klaude I believe his name was. He was quite rude and misogynist towards me. Did not appreciate the passive aggressive attitude.
Funky gear for all- did not know where to look! Friendly and helpful folk. Came out with 4 items. I’ll be back for sure!
If you're like me, a hipster with a desire to spend lots of money, go to Retropolis and swim in the sea of quirky vintage hipness. Big variety of strange and exciting clothing and items to adorn your body and abode. Buy it all.
Loads of retro/ vintage. A little overwhelming in terms of the volume and number of things to look at. Prices generally >$50 and upwards. I didn’t buy anything when I went as had decision fatigue but will head back there if any events I need to dress up for with a theme as I’m sure I’ll find something
Number 1 for vintage shopping in Melbourne. Huge warehouse style with clothing, accessories and furniture.
