Vinnies Centres reviews
13Absurd pricing - Used Target clothing priced close to the RRP! And don't get me started on the grumpy old woman going through donations as they were dropped off - the sign says that donations are "gratefully accepted" but someone has a stick up her bum!
I have always loved shopping at Vinnies Hampton and supporting my community.on the 19th August 2023, I was disturbed to the core when the person I believe was the store manager and a young lady who I believe was doing some sort of job training at this store were involved in racially profiling me, this lady left what she was doing… came followed all my moves while I was at the store, she even at one point asked one of the young ladies to keep watching and follow all my movements, I did browse and bought a few items then left the store however, this made me feel so uncomfortable. Being of a certain skin colour does not mean that you associate me with whatever thoughts you were entertaining in your mind. I would like to urge that you stop this behaviour as it does not represent your organisational values.
This situation left me deeply trouble, just by mere thinking that a manager of a store can groom a young lady into thinking that people of colour are a certain way… what are you imprinting into their mind? !
As someone who values the important work that Vinnies does for the community, I was disheartened to witness such behaviour within the organization. Racial profiling is unjust and goes against the core values of respect, inclusivity, and fairness that I believe Vinnies stands for.
I believe that Vinnies has the potential to lead by example in promoting a respectful and inclusive environment for both clients and staff members. Enough is enough… I have been silent for a long time and it’s high time we are also treated like humans!
Bigger range of kitchenware than at other Op Shops and a lot of books but bookcases aren't labelled well, the books are all lumped in together, not divided into autobiography, fantasy, etc etc and area is quite dark. But husband picked up some old jeans, great for working on the car, while I picked up some random Snoopys (don't ask me why). The Salvos also have their own range of linen, towels, bedding, throws etc for sale at reasonable prices. Pop in for some bargains. Parking on Hampton Street but does get busy. 11.8 just in for browse and must say Vinnies really good at colour blocking.
Prices are absolutely ridiculous. Are you kidding me? You as an op shop pay nothing for these garments, no manufacturing cost, everything is donated. You’re one priority is looking after community, and here you are charging an arm and a leg for a jumper or jacket. Appalling behaviour. I rely on finding decent clothes in op shops as I can’t afford to buy brand new items, and you charge like a designer boutique. I even made a very reasonable offer on a jacket I really like and you refused. So much for helping the community. BEYOND disgusted & disappointed.
Vinnies Hampton generally provide a good service but I happened to be there recently and saw a lampshade that Ikea sell for $10 that was marked at $25 at Vinnies - and it even had a stain on it.
I pointed it out to staff but they said that's the price.
Maybe a little more care is needed with pricing.
Beautiful items on offer, lovely large clean store and polite staff BUT shockingly over priced.
A very nice, clean and well run store. I frequent here and there is always something new. Item turnover is high and most things are a good-great price. Staff are very helpful and often open to offers on items if buying a couple things or if the item has been sitting around of a while. Has a bit of everything and a great range of a few things; ie kitchen ware, clothing and bits in between.
We have always preferred (for no particular good reason) Vinnies as a point where to take in decent items to be "re-loved" and to contribute to a good cause. Whilst one does not expect a thank you for taking items in (but it is always welcome and usually forthcoming) what I do not expect are gruff and unwelcoming collection staff (just one individual there on 16th January). I think that I will find other options, even if it is a container to take items to.
Bigger range of kitchenware than Salvos across the road but the book section is better at Salvos. The bookcases aren't labelled well, the books are all lumped in together, not divided into autobiography, fantasy, etc etc and area is quite dark. But husband picked up some old jeans, great for working on the car, while I picked up some random Snoopys (don't ask me why). The Salvos also have their own range of linen, towels, bedding, throws etc for sale at reasonable prices.
I have always found Vinnies to be well priced and well stocked however lately their pricing has been ridiculously high especially for people on a low income who rely upon being able to purchase things they need and want from this store. Hampton maybe largely an affluent area but the pricing of many items excludes even the general market from buying them. This type of marketing began at the Salvos Store, to their detriment, some years ago. Please Vinnies, go back to the wonderful store that you once were.
Yeah I still have problems with the staff here, rude, no smiles.not happy people.happy to give it a miss on my op shop trips
Fantastic op shop. Recently refurbished. They still have op shop prices and great customer service from their staff and volunteers. Shop is well organised, clean and easy to navigate. Shout out to Deborah and Peter. Peter is very helpful and kind to everyone.
Far too expensive. Have seen dresses and shoes for over $100. They may have designer brands but it's so old fashioned and far from good condition that it doesn't warrant those prices. Because of this stock never moves and you can't even sift through the over piled racks. Best leave it a while between visits it you'll be looking at the same things still sitting there. Staff are always whinging about customers also. The area manager really does need to monitor this store.
