Went July and again in November ***Updated*** with added (half eaten) photos.

Perfect and hasn't changed the freshness.

We have prawn spring rolls this time too and they were apsolutely beautiful with the lettuce, lemon grass and dipping sauce.

Food was very fresh and brought out at perfect times.
Over the past 13 years I have brought Special Fried Rice from other places and VIHN KY has finally NOT disappointed me. I remember when noodle box actually tasted nice when I was a kid, and VHIN KY finally made me remember how nice it was.
The lemon chicken in the photo tasted fresh and the lemon sauce was spot on, not too lemony or sweet and not watery like most other places.
6/5 stars if I could.

Food was hot and fresh with good flavour…when it eventually arrived. Almost 2 hours between the first and last dish being served for what was meant to be a quick weekend lunch was insanely slow. The service became increasingly cold as we became more and more frustrated. Get rid of the silly trolley!

Looks like Vinh Ky’s wontons are the latest victims of shrinkflation. What a shame.
It's too exaggerated to shrink to this size.

Mi sui cao rất ngon

Vinh Ky Restaurant in Richmond is a must-visit for dumpling and noodle lovers. Their mi sui cao is fresh, yummy, and bursting with flavor. The service is excellent, and the menu has a wide variety of delicious options. A popular spot indeed!

An enjoyable place for a nice meal. I often have lunch with work mates there.

One of my favourite places to dine. Always order the egg noodle soup with rock salt chicken and add a few dumplings in the soup. Never disappoints. Highly recommend this place for taste Chinese Vietnamese food

A long-lived, no frills restaurant with an extensive menu offering a range of Vietnamese and Asian dishes. Their generous servings guarantee you'll roll out the door with a food baby.

My Broken Rice with pork chop, shredded pork and a fried egg was tasty but not memorable. My friends' Pho arrived in enormous bowls that could feed 2 people.

Over the years, we'd been here many times. You know exactly what you'll get and with speed.

This is the place to eat the best 'prawn sui gau' in Melbourne. Go and have a treat!

Ridiculously amazing dumpling egg noodle soup. I think the dumplings are hand made as well, PACKED with prawns, noodles cooked to perfection and soup is delicious.
Cabbage is crunchy but not raw, I don't know how they manage to get this perfect all the time.

Venue is literally spotless clean, and all the "uncles" working there are super efficient, hard working and super friendly.
It is almost therapeutic to watch them work so flawlessly.
Oh and definitely try their banana fritters

Despite the environment is a bit lousy, the taste and service used to be good, but ever since the change of the management, the taste has gone downhill and so is the service, wrong order, long wait time…etc. Don’t think will ever go all the way there again.

The banquet at $36 is astonishingly good value, the Mongolian lamb next level. The food and service is just great, friendly and cheap eats.will be back!

It was 9.45pm and we were scrambling to find a place to eat. I suggested Vietnamese food and we headed towards Richmond. Many restaurants were still closed for the holidays and we were very late.
Vinh Ky was still open so we headed in.

It's pretty much a no frills restaurant. I think I saw BYO at the entrance.

The presentation could have been better and the broth for the pho a little less salty but flavors were very good.

The combination bowl for $17 was an okay price to pay. Dining out in Australia now especially in Melbourne is getting ridiculously expensive.

They have a full menu and I saw the table beside us had dishes served and they looked quite good. Maybe I'll try them next time I'm in Melbourne.

Would I come back again? ! Yes.

Got our order mixed up with another table which they fixed. Serving size is generous but a bit heavy handed on the MSG.

I have dined here multiple times and service was never this bad until last night. Arrived at 7: 30pm with my husband and ordered 2 bowls of their signature Sui Cao without noodles. Waited and waited, no food in sight. About 15 mins later, the waiter brought a big plate of fried rice to us, we said no we never ordered that. He looked confused and took the fried rice to the next table. Waited another half an hour, still no food, others who came after us all got their food already, we started to feel frustrated. We asked the waiter, he said "ok, ok, just be patient and wait". 5 mins later the waiter brought out 1 bowl of Sui Cao with noodles, and we said no noodles, and we ordered 2 bowls not 1 anyway. He looked confused and took the bowl to a random table and the customer said no and he took it back to the kitchen. We then asked the lady who took our order initially, she was shocked that we were still just waiting and apologised and told us to wait 10 mins and the kitchen will prepare the food right away. Waited another 10 mins, saw 2 bowls being pushed out on the trolley, we were excited, but the waiter took both bowls to another couple who just came in. They looked a bit confused but just started eating. At this point my husband got so angry he just wanted to leave. As we got up to leave I told the waiter that we waited too long without food so we're leaving, he just smiled and said ok. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS WAITER? I observed him the whole time while waiting for the food and he is literally incapable of bringing out the food to the correct table, why is he outside and not inside the kitchen doing something else useful? He walks extremely slow (he's old so fair enough) but constantly looking confused and putting food down at a random table hoping it's the right one, if people wave no he proceeds to bring it to the nearest table and hope it's right again, and he was never apologetic. At one point he was gonna put down food at the wrong table and the boss looked angry and pointed him to bring it to a different table. Sigh.
We left after 55 mins hungry and disappointed. Not sure if I'll ever return again, their signature dish is nice but the service was so bad, unless they replace the waiter. Because I'm pretty sure the kitchen was receiving orders and making food properly, it was just that waiter that ruined it all.

Very disappointed, asked for no MSG because of allergies, however they have provided the food with extra MSG. Resulted end up in emergency in local hospital last night. Will not eat there again.

Something a bit different. Try the gong chicken. Stuffed boneless chicken with prawn until skin is crispy.

I had a negative experience at this restaurant. While I was there, I observed the staff turning away Caucasian customers and only serving Asian customers, which I found to be discriminatory and racist. Additionally, no one came to take our order or acknowledge us, so we had to go to the counter to place it. We then had to wait over an hour for our food while others were being served before us. Overall, I was disappointed with the service and treatment we received at this establishment.

Our go to comfort food made so deliciously and authentic. Highly recommend if you are craving home comfort asian dishes.

I had been here in the past and had good experiences. We arrived on this occasion and were completely ignored. We looked for eye contact and gestured for help several times. After about 20 mins we got a menu. The food took ages to come. The spring rolls arrived they didn't bring the standard dipping sauce so we had to ask and then wait for that. The food was not great. The attitude in there was terrible. There were maybe three tables with people and two other parties came in and were ignored and both walked out. They didn't seem to mind that they were losing business. It's unfortunate as we won't return. Whereas in the past food and service had been fine.
