Villa Alba Museum reviews
11I recently attended a function here-a birthday and it comfortably held close to 120 guests- the rooms are lovely and very atmospheric-the rare quality of this venue, is it’s authentic originality and the Museum Curator, Andrew is a pleasure to deal with-I can highly recommend Villa Alba
I was so pleased to find this beautiful house which is heritage museum. Open only one Sunday a month, I hope to help bring awareness to this magnificent building that is in need of some public funds and tlc to bring it back to its formal glory. It is walking distance to the famous Studley Park Boat House.
I recently had the pleasure of photographing a styled shoot at Villa Alba Museum. As soon as you enter through the doors, you're magically teleported into a parallel universe, somewhere back in 19th century Europe. All the different rooms on both floors have their own unique wow factor, and the hallways interconnecting them are just as impressive. Incredible photo opportunities everywhere you turn, both on the inside and the outside this magnificent building. We had an incredible experience.
Love this place. They have a glass exhibition on at the moment which is a must for glass lovers. Staff were amazing.
Amazing building I had been trying to see for years but as it is only open 1 day a month and kept missing the dates. The features are great. Great volunteers
Historic building with a important history related to the famous Victorian interior decorators that did the same interior of the Royal Exhibtion Buikding. We were there for their “Winter Flowers” event.
Stunning exhibition - "the Feminine Aesthetic, Fashion & Design in Melbourne, 1860 - 2000" in a magnificent heritage building.
An absolutely stunning piece of Australian History. An underacknowleged gem, right in the heart of Melbourne. Stunning murals and frescoes, beautiful gardens, grand architecture and the guides are informative and friendly.
Great to see the garden bursting into spring bloom and the new signs on the gate! So many people out walking and keen to visit when the gates can open again!
An amazing place to visit. Great to see these historic homes being kept and not knocked down for new apartments.
Staff are incredibly knowledgable and passionate about the home, which is nice to see.
My daughter went to a huge amount of trouble to organize a lovely afternoon for myself, my Mother in-law, my Daughter and my best friend.
You advertise that if you pay $23, per head, up front, you will be guarenteed a lovely Devonshire tea with your tour.
Firstly there is no tour, you walk in the front door and you are handed a pamphlet, the building itself is amazing and the staff are very knowledgeable about the home,
thats where the excitment ends.
Do not book the devonshire tea, it is a total con.
If you want to wait forty minutes to receive rock hard scones that have been frozen and then thawed, then you will receive 2 of your coffees ordered in takeaway cups. 10 minutes later my girlfriend receives her tea.
Still no hot chocolate for my daughter, or jam and cream for the scones.
So i go out to ask where they are, only to be told soon.
So there we sit with two coffees and one tea, 4 plates with cold scones. I cannot eat these scones and i ask to swap it for something else. I get a chocoate biscuit, $9 for one biscuit, but because you have already paid for the food you cannot do anything. Eventually i collect my daughters hot choclate myself and the jam and cream and take it to the table, its quicker than waiting for staff.
I thought i was helping but instead i was repremanded.
Please don't get taken for a ride like we did. The company running this service was more worried about making sure the people walking up to her van were served before us, we didn't matter to her or the staff, it was all about a money grab.
They could have offered us our money back, but no instead, waste an hour of our time, and serve us uneatable food and cold drinks that are supposed to be hot, honestly we were in a series of Faulty Towers.
Never again.
