Victorian Pride Centre reviews
22 Fabulous architecture, well done Victoria a place to be proud of for the LGBT+ community and our supporters.
Great views inside and out too.
So brilliant to have this architecturally beautiful new resource for the LGBTIQA+ community in Melbourne. We were lucky to stumble on small markets in the foyer today and it felt so special to be welcomed to St Kilda with rainbows and a great queer vibe. I was expecting a bit more flair in the building rather than a contemporary art gallery vibe but it's still definitely a brilliant place for strengthening our community.
Great space. Felt comfortable not only because of the awesome people inside, but also because of how the space has been designed. Achitecturally flawless! The rooftop is awesome and the staff are all hunnies too!
A fantastic place! Market days are wonderful … and when the large door is opened, it invites the whole community in.
Extremely rude receptionist staff, no knowledge about their own programs listed in the website. When asked for about more information they simply say I don’t know and they can’t put you through to a relevant person to answer the inquiry. So many things in their website and lots of government funding yet no signs of these programs being implemented. Receptionist refused to look at their own newly launched program listed in the news section and constantly argued if they are from a different organisation.
Referring to the news article and program launched “pride in employment”
Will definitely advise my trans folks to proceed with caution.
A welcome respite from the constant evaluation by a public whom seem very conflicted on issues of gender diversity.
Not quite sure where the pride is. I’m new to Victoria and hoped to find some groups or activities to join - this building is just 4 floors of offices - everyone’s doors closed and not a single hello. I may have misjudged this was a community facility - it really is just offices and everyone ignoring you, office doors closed and everyone staring at their computer. Certainly didn’t feel welcome so just left and didn’t speak to a soul. Really disappointed.
Such an amazing multi versatile venue. I volunteer at Joy94.9 cohosting Geeksout on Monday nights 7pm. Always a lovely welcome, even when it's the end of a long Monday. And always feel safe and secure being there last to leave at night. Then there's everything else that goes on during days and weekends. Check it out!
I don't have much to add, it is a very interestingly designed building with a lot of community groups, and a little coffee shop. It functions well and serves the community.
Architecturally interesting and socially significant, the Victorian Pride Centre has it all. We enjoyed a tour today and went 'behind the scenes' plus realised the venue has far more services/tenants than expected.
Every state capital deserves a Pride Centre to enable the co-location of LGBTQI+ services, which can only strengthen availability, communication and reduce duplication.
The staff are delightful and incredibly helpful. Services are top notch. The atmosphere is comforting. The space is beautifully constructed.
I love going to events, exhibitions, workshops there and find it so welcoming
Coffee in the morning bagels books and a radio station plus rude mugs and gothic building generally nice staff but defibrillator not in the box and some staff not very helpful but you can get free things there sometimes
Extraordinary awesome building.with so many facilities to everyone in the LGTBIQ community
A bright, open, and welcoming space that brings together outstanding services for LGBTQI+ people and the community at large. The volunteers give generously of their time, and their love of doing so shines through. Visit the gallery, the bookshop, attend an event, or take the chance to sit quietly with a great cup of coffee from the on-site cafe.
The building itself is architecturally interesting, but the staff were my favourite part of visiting the Victorian pride centre - they were so welcoming and friendly despite the space being so busy. Thank you so much!
We are so grateful to have been welcomed as visitors from Canada by Chris and Stevie. We loved the bookstore, the tour by Chris, the art exhibition and the coffee …. Mmmm. We appreciated being invited back for the art market as part of NAIDOC week. Thank you everyone! We felt welcomed and included during our honeymoon adventures!
Very nice venue, large and spacey.cinema/stage rooms are nice but are clearly form over function - they feature diagonal pillars that are an extreme tripping hazard. I managed to clip the edge of one such pillars with my foot and in addition to falling on a bunch of people, ended up with a bruise the size of my head on the side of my leg when it landed on the front of one of the cinema chair hand rests. Floor lighting would have helped here, but it was turned off at the time
Great center for all your LGBT issues and advice don’t forget Thorne health in the same building for confidential medical advice. Not forgetting the famous Hares and Hyenas book shop for all your reading material especially of an LGBT nature and current issues situated on the ground floor also the wonderful JOY radio upstairs.
Great space for members of the LGBTQ+ community to be able to let their guard down and be themselves and also to be respected
An all inclusive space and you can walk through history of inclusion of different identities in australian society.
