The top-ranked university in Australia and internationally for 2024 by the two most respected global ranking bodies: Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and Times Higher Education (THE). The sprawling campus at the edge of the city center beautifully blends ancient and modern architecture, with faculty and students drawn from across the world. A proud alumnus.

Idk about the university itself, but when I attended someone’s graduation ceremony I was 20 min late and there was a very fat angry man who literally shouted at me for being late and disturbing the ceremony and I was just a gust. The room was the exhibition center at Carlton garden (super huge). There were kids and family members! I had no idea a staff can simply disrespect the guests for being late. I wouldn’t dare invite anyone for my graduation ceremony knowing they may be shouted at! Look at the photo and see there wasn’t a possibility of disturbing the ceremony by entering from the back (the door was at the back). I seriously don’t understand what he meant and why I was shouted at for coming straight out of work and being slightly late.

Long time student, first time reviewer. I've noticed a certain demographic at this University. Love it!

WORLD CLASS but more politics at any Uni than Politics.
Need to bring back special courses like music in Africa or etc. They helped me but sometimes it was a monologue as they ignored a world view of the area contrasted by Europe.

THINK TWICE BEFORE APPLYING!
My brother had applied for Master of Computer Science course in the University. After considering my application he received acceptance letter without any conditions. But later that evening he received a mail saying that there was some error and they sent that email by accident. Being such a reputable university with highly qualified professionals such mistakes are unacceptable. It felt like we were kind of tricked. SO SHARING MY EXPERIENCE WITH ALL OF YOU, THIS TWICE BEFORE APPLYING HERE AS THEY CHARGE US WITH THE APPLICATION FEES UNLIKE OTHER AUSTRALIAN UNIVERSITIES.

I don't go here, but they have nice buildings, especially their botany buildings. I have taken some stars off for their style inconsistency as well as their egotistical pretentious students.

A highly politicised University that rests on its laurels in educating its students. Start improving your teaching!

My experience studying a Masters in Nursing Science: UniMelb is the perfect example of how ultra left wing ideology and social justice have poisoned the modern education system. I moved from interstate to pursue a high quality education instead to find political indoctrination. Additionally, there were constant errors with the online system and the "flipped class room model" Which i feel was really just a way the university could lower their own expenses.
I think if i were pursuing a hard quantitative degree this would be a great uni.maybe. If your degree has a posibility to become politcal, it will. The spoilt cohort from the inner suburbs of melbourne with little life experiences think that they have to fight any opposing view that could contest their own. This university needs a big wake up call to reality.

Pretty historical and chill campus. Has been introducing many more modern style buildings and student facilities, which is great

Beautiful gardens that the public can enjoy as well as students and staff alike. Dogs love it there also! However it is not a public park so no poo bags - please bring your own and be responsible pick up after your pooch:)

Feels like Hogwarts but with no magic, so not Hogwarts at all actually, and for that, four stars! Love the Gothic architecture, the education, and the accessibility! Would totally attend a graduation ceremony here again.

Basically at unimelb everything is more of a competition rather then them helping you to succeed.they make things hard for no reason (like not providing practice exam answers for some of their subjects). Also the whole online learning during 2021 showed that online learning isn’t unimelbs strong suite.there are some subjects like cells to societies with great lecturers, content and organisation but there are others like first year biology and chemistry where some of the academic staff/ tutors seem disinterested and unorganised in teaching.don’t even get me started on the kids living at college.they are literally out of touch with reality and i hated interacting with them lol.

Understaffed admin, how the hell does it take 3 weeks for a release letter to be issued. They promised 10 working days, as I called after the 10th day, they told me that no one was on my case? Because of this delay, I'm just waiting on a miracle that I can get to my intended university on time.

What a bunch of cash cows

Poor etiquette and disrespectful students in queens, specifically the British one. Proper knob.

University of Melbourne (UoM) is the most prestigious and popular university compare to other schools. They provided a variety of programs for undergraduate and post-graduate. The buildings have the historical uniqueness to them, but not really upgrade to modern times. The library, gym and athletic facilities needs a major upgrade to accommodate the growing student intake to UoM, especially the Parkville campus. In my opinion, UoM has become more focus on business side than helping students. There should have more accommodation for international students in financial aspect like scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate programs. I think also the gym facilities needs a major upgrade. The courts - basketball, squash, badminton, etc there's need to have more of them.

I was an international student taking a three-year Bachelor's program (2013-2016). I dropped out during my second year (2015) due to mental health issues. I was open about ‘not being okay’; however did not receive expected support from my tutors or the university admins. I reached out to the university’s psychologist for help and visited more often than I attended classes! Thankfully appointments were free… (or was it included in my tuition fee?). However, the psychologist prescribed me generic anti-depressant pills and was not interested in my wellbeing. With the rising number of international students enrolled and the increase in tuition fees every year, no wonder I felt like a number and not a human. I wish I had better care and guidance back then. Hopefully, the university takes mental health issues seriously now. My ‘University of Melbourne’ experience was unpleasant, and I was left with trauma and anxiety. I hope those lining up with me at the psychologist's office are now okay.

I received my undergraduate degree w/ honours at the University of Melbourne as an international student from the United States.

It is a top notch academic institution with incredible lecturers and a stunning urban campus. You can expect to receive an excellent education.
