Union Hotel Nhill reviews
18Great old pub, friendly staff. Meals were a proper pub meal, very nice and a value for the price. Price was about half for other places we visited.
Stopover in Nhill on our way to Yarrawonga. Caravan park very friendly and once settled decided to walk in to town for a pub dinner. Asked if we could bring our “support” dog in and were told no. And barman not interested in allowing any form of assistance animal on to premises. There were 4 of us and seeing how quiet the pub was we would’ve contributed favourably to their daily takings. Other pub was most welcoming to our support dog - unfortunately no dining room. We do however understand why the friendly takeaway in the Main Street were so busy - friendly and great food!
Visited it twice on the way to and from Motorfest in Adelaide. Dined on both visits. The meals are above average 'pub food', and be warned, the portion sizes are HUGE, and very very tasty.
The meals here are really nice pub food, the honey and sesame prawns are amazing! Service was fantastic, really quick and friendly.
We just used a room for the night, not the restaurant. It was impeccable. All renovated. Just what we needed.
Had a great night at the Union. We overnighted in Nhill on a road trip and hit the pub for dinner. Ate in the front bar and yacked with the locals about farming, the weather, old days in Fitzroy, you name it. Pubs like this are a treasure being lost in many towns but Nhill's still got this one.
Booked last minute as we weren’t able to get a place in Horsham over the long weekend. Contrary to some of the earlier reviews, the rooms are quite modern - they must have been refurbished recently. It was a clean, large room with a comfy bed. Would definitely stay over on a long drive again
Very friendly publican serving excellent, large portioned pub meals. Makes Nhill a worthy stop on the Melbourne to Adelaide drive.
Place of last resort on a Monday evening, and glad we went there. All three meals were very good, shame we couldn't stick around and have a couple of quiet beers
Great old fashioned Aussie pub with good food and cold beer.
Worth stopping in if you are staying or passing through Nhill.
It's a shame that real Aussie pubs like the Union are disappearing, not just in Nhill but Australia wide.
Make sure you visit when you're in town!
I love the old hotels and it's great to see them utilised. Counter meal was hugemongous and the bed and room just what I needed after a day of driving! Note the unrenovated area, can romantisise about the old days!
A really nice old pub. Nice meals, cold beer. Really comfy cosy rooms with ensuites. What more could you want.
Beautiful old hotel, nicely renovated rooms upstairs, friendly publican, good value meals, cold beer. Good overnight stop.
What a great pub. Awesome people. The rooms are fantastic. Beds really comfortable and coldest beer I've had from a tap.
Old but clean. Friendly staff and our meal in the dining room was great. We had been booked into Zero but they had no record of our booking so this hotel took us and it worked out well.
Cold and dingey with trash service. Walked in, no hello, no how ya doin' just the barman turning his back to us and never acknowledging us. He Vietnamese down the other corner much friendlier
Can't recommend it. Dining room was very cold on a June night, even with the heater on
The "Union" parmigiana was a good size for $21, but very ordinary. Essentially a pizza on a schnitzel, and tasted very cheap, with processed shredded ham and a small scattering of sliced olives and capsicum. The veggies it came with were overcooked and close to mush. Chips were fine but nothing above what you'd get at the corner store.
They also don't understand that a tax invoice needs to show GST.
Typical country pub meals offered.we got chicken schnitzels and serving size was great! Food was delicious and came out real quick and was hot! Drinks are well priced and there is a good selection. Staff were friendly and meals offered till quite late - when we went they were serving 1800-2030
The decor was dated but country feeling. There were huge televisions if there are any sports wanting to be watched, a pool table and an outdoor sitting area
Toilets were clean
Overall, great little pub to grab a meal and a drink
