UniLodge on Villiers reviews
10I thank 55 Villiers for the opportunity to live a different, pleasant and very fun experience, through the different activities and the wonderful thing about living in this building
Great place for living! The apartment is safe, quiet and comfortable. 10 mins walking to unimelb. And it located near to the tram and bus station, and it just few stops to the city. They have many events which is good for making friends and exploring Melbourne. Also, all staffs and residents are very friendly and nice. Highly recommend!
They do this 'sales inspection' while you're renting there. Imagine a peaceful Saturday morning and suddenly someone opening your room with a spare key WITHOUT KNOCKING, and baam! There are a bunch of strangers (about 5 people) bragging into your room with their SHOES ON and looking at your bed, opening your wardrobe, your shelves, everything. What a breach of rent contract and privacy.
And imagine you have to think that someone can freely open your room without you being there, inviting strangers to look at you private stuffs, when you should be studying and worrying your exams.
Student living? Like hell.
I inspected an NRA apartment, it has no air conditioning. The room was not super clean. The laundry is communal and coin operated.
Used to live here for one year. The location is good and convenient. My room was facing into the courtyard, so the light was needed all day when I was in the room.because the sunshine did not come in much. Laundry and dryer service each charged you $4 each time. Most of the neighbors and residential advisors were nice, but sometimes the music from some rooms could be loud. The managers were a little bit hard to get long with being not quit responsive to your request.
Loved the location and reception services, pretty prompt and responsive. In other words, the staff are reliable when it comes to your daily needs. Great space for students, heaps of study lounge and social events that you could get involve with.
However, the expenses might be the dealbreaker. I was paying 1300 dollars for the first 3 moths and then they marked up the price to 1600 dollars for a year lease. 1600 dollars, for a dinosaur looking AC, old furnitures, tiny wardrobe (like really small, if you have a lot of clothes think again), you have to spend 8 dollars in total for laundry washing and drying (lobby laundromat).
Upon checking out, you are given an option to pay departure cleaning that goes up to 200 dollars, yeap they gave you an option however, if your own cleaning doesnt meet their standards, they could deduct it from your bond and could deduct even more if they claimed that they took more time to clean your apartment.
Ultimately, this a property renting profiting business. They make money in every single corner from you as a tenant. Note that, this experience might differ with other tenants. My neighbour paying 300 dollars less for the same apartment i lived in.
Well yes, its my fault i took the contract, but only because i had plans renewing my lease but didnt expect they would increase the rent and it was mid semester for me, i cant afford to be hunting new houses and potentially be homeless for sometime.
The place is modern and well maintained. The location is very close to Melbourne University. Highly recommended!
Been living here as a student since Feb 2018. Overall great experience. Clean and spacious room, competitive price compared to other student apartments, friendly staffs that can help you with any problems with accommodation.
Weekly events like dining out with neighbours, movie nights, BBQ, etc.
I hope I can give 0 star. I book the unilodge on internet because of the picture and facilities but they give me a totally different one with no sunshine and darkness and unclean room. The most ridiculous thing is that its full of cockroaches and appear endless everyday! I strongly recommend those who want to stay here because of the pretty pictures online should find another places, cause the price per week in here can afford to any other places outside better than here.
PLEASE DO NOT INVEST IN THIS PROPERTY! I have been a landlord of this property since this building was made. Selling in the process resulted in nearly $100k in losses (everyone, not just me), and I advise caution to those who are interested. Do not trust the agents, they are dishonest and will make up ridiculous excuses to steal your money! I bought the property for $250k which are now being sold for $150k and less
