24Great selection of funky stationery and home ware. Really lovely staff, very kind and helpful
Typo always has all sorts of knick knacks and is a great place to get small gifts. They also usually have some sort of collaboration with some pop-culture brands (like TV shows and games) so its a great place to check out if you're looking for some merch.
Pretty convenient place to get to, just a 1-2 minute walk from the Collins street tram stop. Had a weird experience there once when the online opening hours did not align with the "real" opening hours. Not sure if they were just changing their hours or what but it was disappointing to come in 1 hour before the online closing time just to find out they were already shut.
Staff don't greet or welcome you and chat amongst themselves until you go to the cashier to buy something. Recently they were selling travel cutlery sets for $5 with any purchase, so I asked them if they are dishwasher safe, they said they are. Got home to see the packaging only for it to say "not dishwasher safe" plus it broke the first time I tried to use it. Went straight in the bin.
It's ok, to me it's more like a glorified dollar store, anyhow it's a good place to buy random gifts for your loved ones.
This is to the blonde lady at the register who gave me a huge discount for a scratched tumbler. You were so friendly and nice. Deeply regret not signing up for a member card.
Had a great sale, yet failed to spark my interest, first time I've ever walked out empty handed. I'm sure I'll find something next time. (I did)
Please don't give me attitude when I don't want to buy extra things you offer at the counter. People have different priorities and things to get to and can't always help you upsell and cross sell.
I'm a huge fan of typo.
Particularly interesting is their cool often on sale excercise books and other stationery things you can buy.
It's hands down one of the better places to pick up writing tools, but also gifts for kids, teens adults.
An interesting rage of reasonably priced stationery including anniversary cards, diaries and calendars, as well as an assortment of gift type products including Harry Potter merchandise and other creative and cute novelty gift possibilities, some very fun and quirky. The store is in a good location and the staff is extremely courteous and helpful.
Quality is not what I expected, poorly stocked, very tight cramped store, staff friendly and helpful
The service was very standoffish, which is often what I want when looking in a store, but the girl had a very unfriendly look to leaving me and my girlfriend to browse. But, they have a few nice stationery products, a few good ideas, it’s relatively affordable and they do some branded merchandise. Above all, my girlfriend enjoyed the store so it can’t have been too bad!
Great for gifting ideas and one of the best Typo stores I've been to! Sharidan really went the extra mile offering to emboss the notebook I was looking at and putting together a great gift for my wife's first mothers day!
Always love going into typo. As a graphic designer it's just fun seeing all the stationary and random gift ideas. A good place to go if you have no idea what to get or looking for something qwerky. I know this place was my go to for all my stationary as a kid. Often times there's great sales too:)
Great place for gifts, everything is overpriced though at the Elizabeth Street shop, they have cards, bags, laptop bags, books, drink bottles, lots of pens, mugs, reusable straws, some eco friendly products, speakers, socks and other small products.
It's kinda like a stationery, gift shop, with a lot of different stuff
Love Typo. Good bargains today with 40% off and they also do free embossing on buffalo journals!
The store is always overcrowded and over expensive. They don’t have anything that you wouldn’t find anywhere else for a cheaper price. The only things I really enjoy there are the Harry Potter merchandise. Although that is something only potter heads would find interesting.
I do wish they had more variety at reasonably prices because I do love good stationary but anyway.
Had a great sale, yet failed to spark my interest, first time I've ever walked out empty handed.
There are always plenty of sales when I come in. I usually go to get birthday cards but I end up getting the other stuff on sale.
Visited this Typo for the first time today and bought a big Mickey mouse calendar. However, the white lady who served me, with light brown hair was implicitly rude. First, I went to a closed register (because i didn't know) but instead of taking my things to her register, she made me bring it to her instead. And then she handed over my calendar without a plastic bag whereas she gave the customer before me a bag. And when I politely asked her for one, she just gave it to me and didnt bother helping me with it.
I know some might say that it's not a big deal but Ive actually worked at Cotton on myself and have never treated customers that way. I would willingly help them and not deprive them of such a thing like a plastic bag.
All I can think of is that she's probably racist towards Asians as I definitely was not a rude customer.
But either way, terrible customer service. Bad experience for my first time visiting Melbourne.
Like all any others Typo shops over the world, they sell nothing special and you can find it everywhere, nothing new about this and a little bit overprice. The location is in the centre of the Melb and easy to find.
