Twelve Apostles - Visitor Facility reviews
16The visit to the Twelve Apostles was a great experience but we had a bad experience with the traffic management of the centre: it was a busy day with loads of cars. Staff were out about directing the traffic etc, it was ok. However, in their infinite wisdom no-one thought about managing the pedestrian crossing on the carpark exit. The result? Cars could get out due to constant foot traffic. We were stuck in the exit traffic for more than 10 minutes which could be solved by posting someone there grouping pedestrians to give cars a fair go. After all, all those people will go back to the same carpark and suffer on the way out.
It's great to grab a cold drink or snack, plenty of toilets. But if you want to bring your own picnic, there is nowhere to sit, so bring a picnic blanket (and maybe earplugs) because the only grassy area is where the helicopters take off and land.
Fantastic experience, took the little trip and it was great, top notch staff, skilled and committed.
Nicely constructed facility. Big carpark. Little kiosk and toilets. Short walk under the highway to the viewing areas. Didn't see any snakes:)
Annoying they don’t accept cash, this is happening more and more and people just accept it. The gifts were great, not too pricey. Toilets generally clean. We are lucky in Victoria that admission into these areas is still free.
One of the most impressive and beautiful places I have ever seen. Take the ocean road and enjoy the views!
Lord Ard George is temporarily closed, but you can go to Gibson steps to take nice pictures at the beach.
The visitor's centre is really just the entrance to to under highway access to thr Twelve Apostles.
My first memory of visiting the Twelve Apostles was when i was 15 and we travelled from Sydney for school camp. That was 22 years ago.
While the view has changed slightly it's still a great tourist attraction.
Now that i live in Geelong we don't come as often but it's on our list of places to take our family and friends when they visit from overseas or interstate.
Entry is free and the view is breathtaking.
Make sure to keep a light Parka or Cardigan as the wind off the Ocean can be quite chilly.
The parking can be a bit of the challenge at busy times.
Toilets are reasonably clean considering the huge crowds that use them.
The foundational drinking water fountain is a big help.
The Wall paintings prepare one for the great experience of the twelve apparels.
Kudos to the management.
Amazing absolute must see site! Accessible close to car park. Incredible views. Recommend heading to the kiosk, snacks coffee and best gift shop range.
One of the iconic place of Australia. Unfortunately, only 5-6 apostles left but still worth going. One of the viewing closed.
More a cafe than a visitor centre. Quite a walk to either of the view points as centre and car park is across the road from the coast (accessed via tunnels (.
The 12 (now 7 or 8) Apostles experience itself was great, as was the helicopter experience. Unfortunately however, can’t say the same for the visitor centre. Inside toilets closed!? Outside toilets not clean - last cleaned date documented on the wall said it had last been cleaned 2 days before - not good for such a busy tourist venue.
Given how busy it is there you would think they would be all over ensuring the pies, pasties and sausage rolls are being warmed and churned out adequately to cater for the numbers but this was not the case, very limited availability of food in general but also because some of it wasn’t warm enough however it was over a busy lunchtime period. Understand they are very busy but again, they would know how busy it is there and should be able to be on top of what is required.
No tables and chairs available to sit at while having a quick bite to eat. Lots of people looking for a spot to sit. Understand it isn’t primarily a cafe or restaurant but people still need somewhere adequate to sit for a bit if needed.
A bit embarrassed that this is what is being offered to not only local/Australian tourists but overseas visitors to our country at major tourist attractions. Victoria tourism / government - need to pull your socks up.
Such a breathtaking experience. You won't be disappointed no matter the weather conditions.
Came here on the way back from Warrnambool just after New Year's. I was surprised that even though we didn't arrive so early, there seemed to be adequate spaces available for parking. It's good that there are staff to guide you also.
The Visitor Centre has toilets (which was ahhhhh so good) and Timboon ice cream. I wouldn't have noticed that, but we had just come from the Timboon Ice Creamery.
Not sure if it was on that day in particular, but be sure to take some fly repellent/ Aeroguard. The flies were on a rampant frenzy and were getting up all in ya faice!
Really needs some investment- spend on the facilities as well as the viewing platform.
The Penguin Parade put this place to shame, Victoria Government should really think about better tourism facilities- so far in Victoria I’ve only come across 2 facilities worth more than 3.5 Star and both are on Philip Island.
