The new management have done such a great job with this hotel. The old reviews say it was dirty and run down but it was so clean and looked like it has had some recent work done. I will stay again when I next visit Melbourne as it’s so close to the station and Hawksburn shops.

I have previously stayed here and the new management have done such a great job in upgrading the hotel. Rooms were clean and elegant. Can't beat the location!

Horrible janky place, don’t stay here! We showed up at 5pm to a creepy locked manor and a sign on the door saying reception is closed and to call a number that no one is answering. After knocking and calling we retreated and are now dealing with trying to get our money back.

Lovely old place that has clearly seen better times. Extremely convenient location, but lackluster rooms.

Very ordinary and unkempt. A place to put your head in an emergency otherwise there are better places and cheaper

Loved my stay. A quaint older styled manor and accommodation. Nothing fancy but very clean and hospitable. The room had a large private bathroom. Close to local stores and public transport. Free parking and WiFi and if you order a day ahead you can enjoy a freshly cooked breakfast in the dining room. Easy check in and out. Friendly and welcoming staff.

Quaint and old world charm. The booking and staff are very friendly. The room is neat and clean. The bathroom is large and well stocked. Convenient walking distance to public transport and shopping.

I was booked to stay at Toorak Manor for a week. I was unable to stay but my numerous communications with staff were both friendly and helpful and I found the manager to be professional.

The rooms really have a warm feel to them. We really enjoyed our stay, it's really good value $85 / night / standard double with bathroom; can't complain at all!

Actually really quite nice. Was a bit worried reading some reviews but seems to have become more popular. Very clean. Comfy. And feels nice. I'm on a business trip but feel like I'm away for a weekend in the city.

This place gets away with a lot!
Our room had so much dust along the skirting boards and on top of power points that our eyes and throat had a constant itch.
The shower was absolutely disgusting, the grime was thick and obviously hadn't been cleaned for a very long time.
Our bed had such a dip on one side that I put a wall of willows up to keep from falling off.
The fridge was so noisy that we ended up unplugging it and upon doing so discovered that the outer sides were burning hot.
We kept this to ourselves and did not discuss it with reception.
We needed three nights accommodation which we paid for upfront with the awareness that on our third night we would need to change rooms, this was fine with us. However, as we were packing our bags up for the shift upstairs we were informed that the room we were meant to stay in that night had been so badly trashed by the previouse guests that we could no longer have it. Leaving us without accommodation!
This is when we decided to share our disappointment regarding cleanliness and now the fact that we have no room at all.
We were told by the only staff member on shift that it was his first day and he couldn't help us, he didn't even know his way around the building yet! Jaw dropping!
We left with our third night reimbursed, cleary because we didn't stay a third night and the promise of a free future night stay, anytime we like. Considering we had traveled from Mission Beach far north QLD for a one of event, the opportunity to take up this offer is highly unlikely.
The vintage feel does a lot to cover over the fact that this place is filthy dirty and so so badly managed.
Not impressed.

Worth it if you like old looking cute places.

I liked the decoration and vibe of the place. It was a very cool and comfortable space in an awesome location for a great price.

The shower was a bit clogged which wasn't awesome, but everything else was definitely good value for money.

A lovely old house converted to a small hotel. Some great beds, brass 4 posters etc. A little bit tired, but good value.

It's a bit dated but the rooms are large and well serviced. Beds are comfy. And has off street parking. Have never seen the staff.

If you love Victorian era lovely homely stay close to train but did not bother us hot water comfort plus walking distance to Toorak.

More like a hostel than a hotel. Never caught sight of any staff in 2 days. Rooms airless and quite noisy. Dubious setting with main road outside and railway on the side. Otherwise relatively clean - but really one night or two nights would be as much as most would want.

Stayed here for a week around March, old and some maintenance are required in order to improve the living experience.

Sadly this hotel is showing its age and it need some loving tender care both inside and outside.
The carpets are somewhat worn, and in our room torn, and some of the light bulbs flicker on and off.
Finally the hotel advertises a Continental
breakfast served daily, but at the moment there is no advice on the web site that the kitchen is closed and there is no breakfast for the rest of this year.

Old and charming, different to the usual hotel but unique and we'll featured enough for an short stay.

I liked the beautiful historical building with free parking only downside was the carpet in my room had strands of white hairs (no my partner and I do not have white hair!) which clearly shows they don't do a thorough clean. I was surprised the continental breakfast was not included in the room rates when the food was not worth $10 per person and the orange juice clearly tasted more like cordial than juice.
