To Be Frank Bakery reviews
9 To be Frank is in my opinion the best bakery/patisserie in Melbourne! The staff was super friendly, gave us great recommendations and allowed us to taste various bread!
The patisserie were amazing (coming from a French person)! Highly recommend the cookies (crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside) and the kouign-amann (amazing alternative to the croissant if you’re looking for something tasty)
Walked by the Elsterwick Bakery on Footy Grand Final public holiday and thought I would treat myself to a loaf of rye bread for the weekend. Hmm should have just walked away when they said they were charging 15% surcharge on a takeaway loaf of bread, anyway paid for it, picked it up, and realised it was disapointingly small. Got home and it was actually cut in half! $9: 15 for half a loaf of bread, I honestly felt ripped off. I think you should have a look at your products and decide if ripping your customers off is a good idea.
So good that this popular bakery from the northern suburbs has decided to open a second spot in the south! Much more convenient for us southerners…hopefully some other bakeries follow suit because we certainly love our bread here too.
Store hours are listed as being open to 4pm which is a little longer than some other places. We arrived around 12pm on a weekend, and all the savory and sweet pastry items were still available although many of the bread loaves were sold out. Great spread of pastries to choose from and a number of fresh and toasted sandwiches too. They also had a small sample tray out front to try some of the items - I do love samples!
We really enjoyed the offerings here. We had the bread and butter pudding with white chocolate and corn, mushroom lasagne scroll, PB+J croissant and Argentinian dulce de leche pastry. They were all very yum and we liked that they offered some more unique flavour options. The bread and butter pudding item was my personal favourite of our selection.
It’s a takeaway store only at the moment, but there’s a small park area across the road which is convenient for people like me who struggle to walk more than a few paces before digging into their pastries.
Superb quality bread! I usually can’t eat much bread due to tummy issues, but To Be Frank’s produce is from another world!
I once ate their whole baguette in one go and it felt as light as the feather in my tummy!
Gorgeous bakery! So happy they expanded and created this new place in Elsternwick! Highly recommended!
Absolutely love the pastries and the ham and cheese toastie was delicious. The coffee was great and was served quickly. The staff are lovely. Highly recommend a visit!
Recent addition to the area and was busy with a line out the door but the staff were lovely and helpful. So far everything I tried was really tasty and beautifully constructed with flavours distributed throughout the buns/pastries. The bread I tried was pretty good but not sure it's quite worth the $9 a loaf price but worth a try if you can stomach the cost.
I love their Collingwood space and all their food.
The range here is a bit smaller and no sitting. Would be great if they could do outdoor sitting.
Worth stopping by to get a few yummy treats on your way home.
So excited to try this place since opening around the corner. Almond croissant was very dry, expected a lot more for $9.50. Really disappointed
