Had a tricky job modifying a vintage clasp. Alex set my expectations on what could go wrong. In the end he completed the job perfectly in under an hour. Very happy and would recommend.

I really can't recommend Tinker's Jewellers enough. We have utilised their services a number of times for resizing, rhodium plating, watch battery and wristband adjustments, and they have always been helpful, efficient and done an excellent job.
But more recently, I approached them asking for their advice about reselling an engagement ring which I had replaced with a different style of ring. They offered such helpful, wise and honest advice, and went above and beyond in helping me navigate what to do. If you're looking for a helpful, trustworthy and highly skilled jeweller in the Outer-Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, then you should definitely try Tinkers.

Fantastic craftsmanship. Beautifully restored my mums and my aunties rings. Provided excellent advice before I proceeded and the end result was better than I ever hoped for.

I have found my new jeweller!

I was looking for a new jeweller as mine had just retired. I went to one of the local ‘chain jewellers’ and was advised by the manager to go to ‘Tinkers’ to do the repair on my jewellery as they did not do ‘that type of repair’ and if I wanted the best ‘Tinkers’ was the place to go. I went today and I have to say they were absolutely right. They are a small family based business that certainly pack a punch with the service and knowledge they provide. Alex & Vanessa are absolutely amazing and I will be a loyal customer moving forward.
I would like to point out I did take note of previous comments made on this website before I went to Tinkers. I think the comment regarding ‘Would not serve me without mask’ was made unfairly and out of context. When I queried this, I was advised that when staff are dealing with customers within a very close proximity then a mask would be required. I think this is more than fair! Actually I think as a small business they have the right to ask people to wear masks as they enter the business. This family business do not have the ‘luxury’ of being able to rely on casual or other staff to stand in for them if they get ill! Some people need to be just a little bit more considerate! A mask on for 5 or 10 minutes is not the end of the world!

Wouldn’t serve me unless I was wearing a mask. Even after I explained I had a medical certificate stating I cannot. Said he didn’t want Covid, even though he’s talking to someone who’s triple vaccinated and showing no symptoms. It appears his paranoia and feelings supersede the law.

I've heard he's a really lovely guy and quire a good jeweler.
But his knowledge of watches is limited.
Wouldn't recommend taking a propper watch here.
To his credit he didn't just go in head first taking things apart.

I was hesitating to have a battery replacement for my beloved Tag Heuer at the Tag store. Not only the cost of the service but also the significant time it would take, I decided to give Tinkers a go. With new battery, pressure test, and sealing, Alex, the owner charged me less than i expected. He also took a really good care of my watch and he was incredibly friendly. Can't recommend this place enough. I only got him to do an engraving job on my son's pocket knife, but even then he had some sound advice for me which worked out very well.
When I went back to collect, there was quite a queue of what were some very happy regular customers. I'll now consider myself one of them for all my jewellery and watch repair needs.

My wedding ring joint got fractures and the little diamond dropped as well. So I went to Tinkers for repairing. Alex gave me the beautiful honest feedback that he can embedded diamond as the original but the cracking might happen again due to the nature defect of the original ring designing. So I followed Alex’s expertise that soldering my wedding ring.
My wife and I are very happy with the quality of the job and we do recommend this business.

The guys at Tinkers were great. I had a tricky key to cut and they managed to modify a different shaped key, cutting it down to the same size. They couldn't guarantee that it would work (they left the decision to us whether or not to get it cut), but it works a treat! It cost $5.95, and they were super helpful. I'll be going back, for sure.
