Throwback Lounge reviews
17Best place I’ve been to in a while! Such a friendly and fun environment to be in with friends and family. They’ve got something for everyone to enjoy! Please come back soon lol miss it already
90's kids rejoice - An event not to be missed! Bringing together great amounts of community, creativity and culture!
What a cool idea! The look and feel of the lounge was so cool! Took the kids down and they loved it! All the classic games and cereals! Amazing spot
The only place in Melbourne that I have been able to live out my 90s dream and practice my skills in Daytona (I’m not great but atleast Ive got somewhere I can get better lol). Super kid friendly and family oriented! I wish it was open all week.
What an amazing concept! Walking into the Throwback Lounge was like walking back into my childhood in the USA. This fun and creative pop up has brought excitement and nostalgia back into the heart of Docklands and I was so happy to be able to experience it over the weekend. From the colourful cereal bar to the amazing and helpful staff, the Throwback Lounge is definitely a spot to check out. 100% recommend!
We were welcomed by the amazing Mia who was vibrant and full of energy!
The set up of the lounge was amazing, with lots of 90s themed decor. We really enjoyed sitting in the booths playing the board games and having a go at the arcade machines.
On the hour, there was a giveaway and trivia, with lots of fun prizes.
The cereal bar was a great concept. However, it was extremely overpriced at $7.50 (+$2.00 for alternative milks) for what we received. Given the novelty of it, we were still keen to try it.
The only negative was when we arrived to the lounge at 11: 55am (five minutes before it opened) : the staff member at the door (with the pigtail buns) snapped at us and said "we open at 12! ". We were taken aback by her rudeness and attitude – so much so we were reconsidering going in. However, the experience was rectified by the other lovely staff members who we met inside the lounge.
Very well organised, honestly haven’t seen anything like this place so it was a great experience, would love for it to be permanent rather than a pop-up!
Great idea… executed poorly. Waited over an hour for a bowl of cereal? Overpriced and staff were quite rude. They overcharged me for cereal and didn’t refund the $3 for toppings I didn’t receive.
Pretty average tbh.they were selling smallest size of american and australian cereal for $17 a box, even cereal you can find in supermarkets here like milo cereal and cini mini churros. There was nothing you cant find elsewhere. Aside from that they had about 4 arcade machines and an air hockey table. For some reason they were creating an unnecessary queue in the front (quoting covid19 restrictions?) we even had to scan the QR code to get in (which signs you up to their newsletter or something), when there were barely any people inside - girl at front said max 70 due to covid restrictions, but I'm sure there was only 20-30 inside.oh and by scanning the qr code it signs you up to their newsletter.dont waste your time
This place is really cute and fun! We had a good time here but this place has a few problems and that’s why I rate it so low.
You order through an app/website which is good but even if you order on the same ticket there’s no guarantee your food with come out together. Which none of ours did and there were four of us. I got my cereal and my friends came in different waves over 20 or so minutes. Which is a long wait for cereal.
I ordered the ‘slushie’ which on menu is either blue or red in the picture but no description or choice. I ended up with an energy drink slushie. Not what I wanted but that’s what I got so I drank it. Not great to be honest. I hope they aren’t serving it to children as I was jumping off the walls.
I then asked the waiter if the cheetos Mac and cheese is something they cook or you just buy because they sell take home stuff. He said yes we make the boxes that are up on the bench.
Okay cool so I ordered the Cheetos Mac and cheese for $12. I ended up with the $5 instant Mac and cheese. So I go up to fix the mistake, they give me the dry box of Mac and cheese and take my hot food away. Whatever that’s what I paid for but I’m not going to wait another 30 minutes for Mac and cheese that they originally forgot about…. It’s just a mess of service there.
The person who I think owns the place or is the manager is super nice and saves that place with his award winning smile and banter.
This place would be 10/10 if they got the service correct. This is Melbourne, no one is waiting 20 minutes for cereal, that’s too long.
Cute little pop up, worth going to if you have time to kill and love cereal.
Had such an amazing time over the weekend! The team were super lovely, the energy and atmosphere of the place was insane! Really took me back to the good old days!
Enjoyed all the classic cereals I had forgotten about and loved!
Awesome space really taking you back to the good old 90’s. Executed amazingly well! Always wanted to try the different types of cereal but can’t be bothered buying a full box? Go get a scoop of each. Genius! So many fun cereals to try with Milkshakes and childhood favourites like Mac & Cheese? Yum! Going back every day until it’s sadly gone: (staff are amazing, friendly and helpful always there to take photos and explain everything that’s going on. Simply love it!
So much fun! The setup is cute and the arcade games are unlimited which was awesome! Hope this stays around longer
The entry is free, but you have to pay an absurd amount of money to do stuff there. $130 to paint shoes? The website said arcade games were free but you actually have to spend 5 dollars per person on over priced food to get access to the games.
The best thing to exist in the District Docklands. Staff was super friendly, music was amazing and took me back to my childhood. Food was next level. 100% recommend
An awesome experience, love the games, love the amount of CEREAL OPTIONS and love the nostalgia.
Cereal took over 30 mins to come out and the rest of the food slowly came out after.staff didn’t really seem to care and offered no explanation.
