Thread Den reviews
25Really enjoyed my 3 week beginner course at the Thread Den. It covered everything you need in a really fun environment.
I thoroughly enjoyed the 3 week sewing beginners class. The two instructors Mandy amd Arlie were excellent at making you feel welcome, explaining all the steps, guiding you through the process, teaching you many skills and being extremely patient. They will always support you to finish each project and help you with any challenges. You will be amazed at what you can accomplish after each class when you have no sewing experience. I learnt so much and have now developed a keen interest in sewing. Can't wait to do more workshops at Thread Den and develop more skills. I highly recommend this course!
A wide range of classes, that are run by knowledgeable, friendly tutors, held in a great location with all the machines and extras you need. I genuinely feel ready to tackle my own projects with my own machine. A real gem.
Brilliant. I have learned a lot in my first class with Arlie.
Amazing teacher: excellent information, professional and great fun. Highly recommended.
Great experience for a first time sewer like myself! Really helpful teacher and a lot of fun! Would highly recommend!
The sewing for beginners course is excellent. Mandy is an excellent teacher & so patient.
I'm excited for my final class next week.
Lovely venue and Amy was an informative and patient teacher for our beginner sewing class. Highly recommend.
Had a very unpleasant experience. I signed up for the Beginner’s class, and I know nothing about sewing (hence the beginner’s class) so of course I would be confused and have questions sometimes. A teacher (I think her name is Amy) was very rude to me. During the two classes she was passive aggressive to me and even raised her voice at me in front of the whole class. If I already knew everything what would I be in this class for? Totally ruined sewing for me.
*Edit: I gave the course 2 stars not 1 because the teacher in our first class (Jen) is nice and actually patient.
I completed my beginners sewing course today with Amy. Having never used a sewing machine before but always dreaming of learning, I cannot recommend the sewing course enough. Amy's an excellent teacher for a beginner, adapting to the level of each of the students in the class and explaining concepts so well. You're able to complete a mini project at the end of each class, amazingly, and everything about this course is practical. I had booked this class almost a year ago, pre-COVID and it was postponed due to the pandemic, however I am so glad that it persisted and I did it - I'll definitely be doing more classes. Thanks Thread Den!
Up a steep flight of staris, with internal steps it has no support for mobility impaired. None of the classes I did resulted in a finished product within the time allotted. This despite being able to sew clothes and home furnishings before I started. I am left with partly finished projects and wasted money and fabrics.
I had my first private sewing lesson today and I loved it, I’m a beginner and didn’t know my top from my tail but my teacher was so patient with me and answered all my questions (and there was a lot) and I learnt heaps without it feeling like I was being babied. Really looking forward to doing more workshops and classes
Such an amazing space; I did the 3 week beginners sewing course. The staff are extremely friendly, patient and approachable.
Now I understand why ThreadDen is consistently rated as 5 stars. I should have done this 20 years ago. I could have saved literally (honestly, I rarely use that term) hundreds of dollars (maybe more) in alteration costs and frustration. After just one private lesson from Jen, I've learned how to use my new sewing machine and do my own alterations.
Simply fantastic!
I just finished a three week course making the Sapporo Coat. It looks absolutely fabulous. Megan made the classes extremely enjoyable on so many levels. Easy going, PATIENT (oh my god she was so patient with me haha I was always making mistakes), and also incredibly talented at the craft of sewing. My coat would not have turned out anywhere near as awesome as it was without her guidance. I have learnt so many things from her. Thanks Megan! Looking forward to the next class I book:)
Had an amazing time here for my sister's hen party doing screen printing. The team at Thread Den were so welcoming and helpful. Thanks for contributing to our awesome day!
Sewing Basics for Beginners is amazing! Small group size, patient and engaging teachers. Learned so much and had heaps of fun doing it! Looking forward to making a dress WITH POCKETS next
A fantastic beginners course - Hayley was terrific, and it was really well paced. Will be doing more courses!
So far I have taken the Beginner sewing course and the Baby Knit Leggings course.
This is my review for the Beginners course: This was a fantastic course! Laura (first two weeks) and Hayley (third week) took us step-by-step through each project. The projects were well-paced and achievable in each of the three-hour sessions. I now feel confident in setting up a sewing machine and sewing in straight lines/curves/angles, and could complete each project independently at home. As a result of enjoying this introductory course, I have become a Thread Den member so that I can do more courses at the discounted rates. Thanks girls!
The sewing basics courses classes was fantastic! Covered a wide range of skills throughout the three weeks & definitely recommend it for the beginners or those wanting to get back into sewing. Jen was an amazing teacher, sharing her extensive knowledge and tips/tricks. I'd give it 6 stars & can't wait for my next course!
Passed a lovely hour sewing here, lovely room, lots of help from the lady who runs it, nice music on in the background and a lovely friendly dog to boot! Great place for those who want to be creative and inspired! Love!
