Thousand Pound reviews
27Simply delicious, first time at Thousand Pound and will not be our last. The Tuna Confit was amazing, My pork cutlet was perfectly cooked but the star for me were the Brussel Sprouts - crispy goodness. The service was friendly and prompt. Thank you for a great night.
Dropped in early evening for a chill out before going to my intended camp site on the Murray River. I was alone for most of my visit but a group turned up and I had a conversation at the bar. I enjoyed the wine & beer! The decor is good too. Very friendly & smiling staff to be had here!
What a great little gem. Food was absolutley magnificent and the wine list extensive. Can't wait to revisit Rutherglen so we can jump over the Chef specials again!
Wow Wow! Just amazing! The food, the wine, the staff were all so great. A very relaxed and ambient environment. Well worth a visit when you’re in the area.
Food has improved massively and is delicious, however service could still be worked on. Whilst the employees are kind and enthusiastic, they are less attentive when you actually require their attention.
While the menu is limited, every item was done wonderfully and very tastefully. They did accommodate a kids option, which was very kind and the wine recommendation was spot on!
Thanks for the wonderful service with a smile.
Delicious food, great wine selection and fantastic service.
If you’re lucky, you’ll have Dorothy serve you.
The food was just edible we barely ate any not an enjoyable experience. The entree chargrilled octopus was reheated and tough. Mains gnocchi the texture of marshmallow soaked in oil and cold. Fish chargrilled sitting in a liquid with a large piece of triangled chard cabbage on the side One of the 3. Sides was not available being snow peas so wasn’t replaced leaving us with crinkle chips you would get in in a pub and a cold salad…This place is suppose to be a fine dining restaurant, it looks the part but food is below pub food standard. The service was good, the ambiance was good the wine list good the food was disgusting. We are extremely disappointed as we were recommended from a friend who dined a couple of years ago we, won’t ever be back…

Did not have quite a few items of a small menu.
We were informed after ordering.
It's run by the 'All Saints Winery' whose wines are great but this restaurant is disappointing.
Up there with one of the best restaurants we've been to on Victoria. Excellent service and fabulous flavours.
Had fantastic meal at thousand pounds.
Bread and smoked butter and olives
Duck and steak salad and chips.
Followed by the brownies
Food was first class, service was fast and friendly.
Wine was lovely.
Highly recommend this reasturants for dinner
Breath of fresh air for the region. Well put together with fab menu & super-friendly local staff keen to make your visit to the region as good as it gets.
Entree - scallops were very good.
Main - Steak was a little disappointing. The Wagyu was a little tougher than expected.
Service - friendly staff
Atmosphere - vibrant and busy on the weekend that we went.
Nice contemporary wine bar in the heart of wine country. (Only had a drink, I didn't try the food so can't gice feedback on that).
We had a great night at Thousand Pound when we arrived to Rutherglen. The starters we had were amazing - duck wings! The artichoke risotto was surprising good with a lot of artichoke but the steak was a bit blue compared to the medium rare that we ordered. Our host, Tiernan, was amazing and gave us great recommendations to go with our meals. But all the staff were great. Would recommend!
We had a lovely night! We ordered the Angus steak and the Barramundi dish, which were both delicious. Customer service was really friendly but not overwhelming. Only reason to not get 5 stars is because we got there for our booking at 7: 30pm and got our main meals at 8: 45pm. Drinks and entree were quick though.
Great steak, better barramundi.
We came here for a night off from the kids (first in 9 months thanks to Covid lockdown) and it was exactly what we expected and needed.
Great wine, service that’s friendly but not too attentive and tasty, filling food.
Looking forward to coming back.
Food very good. Their high benches are very uncomfortable especially for someone who has a back problem. We asked if we could have a lower table even explaining about back problem and they declined. Had to endure sitting on the high chairs only coz we had booked for dinner and with this times restaurants are only doing booking due to Covid restrictions meaning we couldn't just leave and go somewhere else.
What a surprise to find a world class Bar & Restaurant in Rutherglen.
Thousand Pound has a great atmosphere, brought together by design, lighting and music. The wine list was refreshingly unique, the meals were outstanding, and all strongly complimented with extraordinarily good service. I’m definitely coming back.
If you're staying in Rutherglen, Thousand Pound needs to be at the top of the list for dinner. Some of the best food I've had this year!
Super friendly staff that are knowledgeable about their extensive wine list, shout out to Emily that made the experience exrta special.
