The Waiting Room

Birthday celebration with wife. A couple of hours of food and Champagne pleasure. Situated near the entrance of Crown Hotel, you could watch a great range of people go by. Endless Champagne option was well worth it, topped up in timely and frequent nature. Hot and cold savouries yummy and full of flavour, delicately presented. Great scones, petite but great. Sweets selection a tad too sweet. Maybe should have had some of the sweets earlier. Still worth it. Next stop the Conservatory if we can save the pocket money!

Exceptional food and service. What an unforgettable experience at high tea. They were able to provide me with a dairy free, onion free and gluten free high tea that was incredibly tasty.

I had higher expectations. It was situated in the lobby area of the hotel, the restaurant was smaller than I had imagined, I kind of felt claustrophobic inside. The staff were nice but would snap if they thought a customer complained. The food was nice and I’m glad I tried this venue but I wouldn’t go again. It’s a do it once kind of place.

The food was lovely, the service was terrible. Lot's of staff not paying attention to us. A drink I ordered twice never came. Most of us had our arms up at some stage asking for service that came only once and only when another crown employee who happened to be having coffee, brought it to their attention. Absolutely no unprompted table service. We had to keep asking for water because they apparently werent allowed to leave a jug. I will never be back. At one stage i walked up to a counter and everyone scattered, no one was watching out THE ENTIRE TIME

Great decor and ambience. High tea was lovely and the waiters were nice although a bit slow at times as waiting up to 20mins after ordering a tea. Would recommend for a high tea, there was also lovely live piano music from the foyer

Had a great time here. Loved their zucchini fries and cocktails. They have a higher tea ️ option which we didn’t choose this time but will certainly head back at some stage.

Very friendly and attentive staff, wee were served by Adam and he was awesome.

Not usually one to leave bad reviews. Was really excited to finally try this place out due to to nice ambience. However, customer service was horrendous. There were at least 6 other empty tables available that we preferred but we were told by the waiter “they are all dirty, u either sit here or go back out to queue as we are too busy to clean any of them for u”

Overall the atmosphere and renovations is not as good as the conservatory where high tea was previously held.

However I really enjoyed the variety and amount of food offered, there is definitely more than enough food to make you really full.

The tea is okay, also one issue is at the time of review The tea Rooms phone number is not monitored so you cannot just call them up which is not convenient.

Still the best high tea in Melbourne. Was so excited that it has re-opened and the service was impeccable. We took advantage of their unlimited champagne offer over the 2 hour high tea session.

Friendly staff, but sat with empty glasses for 15 min waiting for table service. Other than that, Great place, nice drinks and atmosphere.
