The Urban Cellar reviews
10It killed me to have to give this place one star. If I could I would give it zero stars. Firstly the food is disgusting. It is nothing more than prepackacked reheated food being sold as wood fired pizza. They don't have a wood fired pizza in the kitchen. We looked. The cocktails were miniscule and the staff, although lovely, were adolescents who did not what they were doing. That is not their fault, that is on management. There were a group of people shouting obscenities and nobody pulled them up. I would rather eat at McDonald's and I despise McDonald's. Just don't bother - what a dump. The owners should be ashamed.
I recently visited this venue with a group of five, including two designated drivers and a pregnant woman, hoping to enjoy some drinks.
However, despite there being only three tables in use at the time, the restaurant denied us service due to understaffing.
It's unfortunate that the restaurant turned away potential customers, especially given that the venue is not easily visible to the public.
Would not bother.
We had a seated function here for our corporate work group. Peter was easy to deal with and made the night possible with all of our requests. The food was amazing and bar staff were great. Would definitely book again. Thanks Peter and crew:)
Turned away with out even knowing what we where there for….
Three tables out of the whole place in use, but due to having an incoming booking
(not there yet) his three staff couldn’t accommodate…. Ridiculous.
We had a quick drink. Quirky venue with what looked like a lovely good tapas type menu. Cocktail list was two pages long. Customer service was great. Would recommend.
Great place to visit for food and drinks. Amazing drinks and cocktail list with local spirits - most made by the in-house distillery Morris Lane - as well as distillers from Timboon to Dongara.
The theme nights are great fun and bang for buck.
It is a factory first and foremost, but Peter and the staff have done a great job in making the space comfortable and welcoming. The staff are great to chat to and make you welcome.
Definitely one of the best places in Bendigo for a drink, either with friends or to pick up a bottle of two of the gin, vodka or whisky.
The coffee is also great for a during the week pick up.
This was a really good honest cellar/distillery experience. The owner knows his stuff but doesn’t bang on too much. It is industrial in feel but they make good mostly classic cocktails for a fair price. We appreciated that almost all the drinks are Australian and many locally distilled or brewed. It isn’t so much urban: being out in a Bendigo industrial suburb with a very non-urban feel, but if you enjoy that big airy shed feel and aren’t looking for cosy or sophisticated, this is one to enjoy.
Thanks team.
Fabulous outdoor dining experience. Sesnsationally zesty gin, combined with a tasty distillery platter and really friendly, attentive service! We will be back & highly recommend.
Had my husband's 40th birthday here yesterday and can't speak highly enough of the venue, staff, and food & drink! Peter was so incredibly accommodating in the lead-up as I had to make several changes to the numbers booked and he made me feel like nothing was too difficult. On the day itself Peter and his staff were just as friendly, providing great service and making for a happy atmosphere and happy customers. Thanks so much for making for a wonderful celebration; we'll definitely be back!
We went here on a whim on Christmas Eve and really enjoyed the experience. Between us we tried at least one of all the tasting paddles, plus some of the cocktails and food.
Staff were very enthusiastic and knowledgable about their gin and wine products. Great to see something like this in Bendigo, definitely recommend checking it out.
