Bed mattress is sunken in the pillow is thiner than paper there's only one Thin blanket. The WiFi keeps cutting out. 7am- 9: 30 an alarm keeps beeping intermittently. For the Price I expected better Quality.

We stopped in for lunch before catching the train back to Melbourne after a bike ride. Friendly, helpful staff and all the food was excellent.

Great country hospitality and delicious, unpretentious food. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We sat in the courtyard on a lovely warm evening and our dog was welcomed as well. Highly recommended. We’ll return on our next visit to Colac.

Used the Takeaway service plenty of choice on the menu. The food always freshly cooked and a good children's menu. Always a nice greeting from the friendly staff

I didn't actually stay at the hotel but played in the gaming room. I requested to get some funds out & upon the ATM saying approved no funds were dispensed. This was the night of the 29th Dec, the lovely lady on duty couldn't do enough. She tried to call the technician but nothing could be done lady night. Called the hotel and was told by Paula my reports match so you will need to contact your bank. Talk about pass the buck. Never again will I be going to this establishment and will be advising family and friends. Full on robbery

After approximately $5000+ spent in accommodation by the Salvation Army, many weeks of which, no receipt has been received for, Management stopped responding to their calls and emails for my final week.
This included the personal emails to the main Managers personal email, which he responded to, who just grinned and denied receiving it.
I won't mention his name, but he does swan around trying to look very important. I hope for his sake the new owners keep him on, but for the customers and consumers?

As such, they are now refusing me service in the bar and bistro there. But rather than speak to me directly, go through one staff member who then won't speak to me directly and passes it on to another staff member.
If the weak Manager had an ounce of Management skills, he would do his job, put the payment through, not smile at me and act like things are fine then put his prejudices down through his minions.
During my stay there, my broken toilet was only fixed in the final two days, despite repeated requests, which were ignored my the Manager, it was only because the seat broke completely apart, cutting myself, that he finally resolved the issue.

I got a response, and Leslie still managed to spell my name wrong after ripping the Salavtion Army off.
I hope the new owners realise who they are leaving in control, when someone does that to a volunteer organisation.

After over $5000+ paid by the Salvation Army for my accommodation, with me being homeless, plus what I spent on meals and drink in the bistro, the fey Manager chose to treat me like garbage and not processed my last week's accommodation.
Despite the Salvos contacting him in multiple ways, including his personal email, (which he responded to, Leslie), he never processed the payment.

Below is his email, where he still can't spell my name correctly.
P. S.he has blocked me on the Facebook page, and there has been a bloke staying there for over two years, who has had to have "guests" removed after Midnight more times than I have fingers and toes.

Hi Brendon, The Hotel provides short term accommodation for visitors and trades people coming to Colac. All transactions are processed through our Bottle shop where receipts are issued. We are not a long term accommodation provider, however we made an exception to the rule during Covid to ensure you were not homeless due to your personal issues preventing you from living at you regular place of residence in Colac. We allowed you to stay for many days beyond what was paid for to support you with the expectation you would ensure we received payment before departing. If you would like to return to the Union please pay the outstanding accommodation charges. Take Care Leslie Robinson Venue Manager

I had a chicken parmigiana and my husband had chicken schnitzel. They were one of the best we have had. Prices were reasonable, plus there is the choice of a half serve with some of the meals. Chippies were excellent too. Staff were absolutely lovely. Highly recommend this place.

Lovely people, great steak and veggies — delicious, and nice amenities like impeccably clean toilets. Very above average country pub!

For a back packers accommodation it is good, rooms are perfect for a quick getaway. Good location. Staff are bubbly and friendly, with good knowledge if the area. Friendly.

Excellently renovated rooms and ensuites and my double was only $80 a night. Really caring and helpful staff and right in the heart of town, walking distance from the train station and everything else, including the lake. Best pub stay I have had in a decade - definitely recommended.

The standard room for 2 person is a tiny room but it's Ok for us because we did lots of travelling.
