Steve and Lena are more invested in their community at The Training Room than any gym I have ever been to. The quality of their training and communication is second to none. Both of them do not hesitate to go the extra mile to support their members in every way. If you want integrity, professional, passionate and skilled coaches. Steve and Lena are your go to.

Currently training with head trainer Steve Moxon. Great guy and trainer. Knows striking like the back of his hand! If you have a chance to check it out, please do, you'll love the vibe of the place!

I found The Training Room while looking for boxing classes last year. What I got back is so much more. Lena & Steve put in a lot of work for their members, focusing not just on skills but also on mindset. There's tons of resources in the form of videos and pdfs that can help virtually anyone looking to start off or learn new things fitness-related. The community is very welcoming and supportive as well. The energy at the gym makes you want to do more. I am glad to have supported this small, family business through the pandemic and am excited to see what's next for them.

Knowledgable and professional. Steve and Lena have a created a space for people from all walks of life to come in, feel welcome and go all out in their sessions with no judgment. Not your average gym, but a place where you are in safe hands.

I hate gyms, but TTRG is much more then a gym. Consider it a community of like minded individuals who leave their ego's at the door and as a result I'm coming up to my 4th year of membership.

Steve's an awesome trainer and sessions are never the same. Definitely improves your physical fitness and strength.

The real appeal to me, as opposed to other 'gyms', is the way Lena and Steve instill a positive mindset to the subject of fitness.it really is much more then a just physical activity.

The quality of the service that TTRG provides, gave me the confidence to bring my wife, son and mother into the community.

For years I had searched for a "gym" that is a combination of high intensity, weights, and BOXING!
A couple of years ago I found The Training Room Geelong, I trialled a free class and I was HOOKED! This family run business is owned and operated by 2 time World Champion Kickboxer Steve Moxon. To me, there is nothing better than learning from the best in the business.

The classes are short, sharp, informative and FREAKING HARD ;) All levels are welcome and you can go your own pace.

Steve's fabulous, power house wife Lena is the support network for the members. She is always there for you with advice and "telling it like it is truths" She has a knack of kicking your butt, in a caring and honest way.

The Training room is more than your average "fitness class" it is a family, a support network and A TOTAL VIBE!

This is my honest and personal experience and opinion with this business.
I attended the "fundamentals boxing class'. Firstly they gym has no mirrors which I find strange as this is one of the most fundamental training tools in boxing. Everything is packed into to a real tiny place and there is not a great deal of room to move around once 5 people are in the room let alone the 20 people that attended the class. There is no 24 hour access and when questioned about fob access I was told it would only be possible if someone from the gym came down and opened up (which is ridiculous in this day and age). I seen about 12 different punching bags but there is very little room to move about to be able to use them properly. I didn't see a speed ball or double ended bags. The weights seem to be very limited as well. Toilets/ change room look like they where knocked together over a weekend by an airtasker.
The class felt more like a money making event rather than a study of the science of boxing. It had a 'get them in, get them out' vibe. I couldn't hear what was being said either over the music and industrial fans (which failed to circulate air in the tiny room properly). The class was far to big for one instructor to be able to give an equal amount of attention to each student. I dont believe they are justified charging $40 a week or $23 per class (at the time) in membership considering the lack of equipment / space / restricted access to gym/ and instructor to class ratio, there are other gyms in the area that charge much less for a weekly membership and offer a lot more.
I didn't get to have a good look around before the class started and would have left once I realised the faults but the class started and I felt rushed to get ready. I realisied10 minutes into the class that it was not for me the style of boxing that was being taught was not the style that I was wanting to learn, combined with the feeling of claustrophobia (small space with 20 odd people), frustration of not being able to hear and lack of air flow and not wanting to waste time anyone's time further I attempted to have a quite word with the instructor and explain why it wasn't for me and leave quietly. Before I could wipe the sweat from my eyes and put my gloves down, gather my belongings, I got a feeling of aggression from the instructors speech and I felt like the attention of the whole class was on me. Questioning me on my decision to leave and not happy with my response (as I did not want to make a scene any further) I moved to gather my belongings to leave and was called a "wanna be fighter" amongst other names that I felt directed at me, in my opinion the instructor behaved in an extremely disrespectful manner in front of the class and creating what felt like a hostile /toxic environment for me, to which I did feel threatened.
I was happy to pay for the time spent in the gym (15mins) however he expected to be paid for the full hour and became more aggressive towards me once I made it clear I wouldn't pay him in full for a sub standard service or facility (as well as his behaviour and the fact that I hadn't learnt anything or spent any real time in the gym, although this was not said).

In my haste to leave the aggressive confrontation I left my phone behind to which instructor then proceeded to hold hostage until he received full payment. I should have contacted the police but life is too short and I would rather just give this story as a warning to anyone else thinking of joining.

I'm sure there will be some reply to justify his behaviour and poor attitude but I have typed the truth from my point of view and my opinion you can take from my account what you want, it is what it is.edit - removed personal sentiment

I had my first 1: 1 boxing session with Steve, and can I just say. WOW I learnt more in that hour than I had from years of group training. You can tell that both Steve & Lena love what they do; it shows in the sessions, their energy & knowledge. An experience I am SO thrilled to have had, and it most definitely wont be my last!

The dedication and commitment that Lena provided during COVID and still provides is was amazing. She had the flexibility to adapt to the new situation and worked with her members to ensure they could still reach their goals from home. The 30min Body Weight Home Workout Hub allowed me to stay on track in an unstable time. Each session is thoroughly prepared and Lena’s delivery is clear and concise. In 30mins of exercise she ensures you make the most of each minute!

Lena really listens to your concerns and gives you sound and REAL advice. Her knowledge of her industry is evident in every conversation. The Moxon Weighs in podcast is a tribute to that knowledge. The greatest trait of TTRG is their passion and generosity. They truly want to help you!

Have been a member for a few years now. Love the variations in each session. Really enjoying working on different aspects of fitness - strength, conditioning, cardio boxing and the 10km running group programs too. Each session feels like a rewarding and satisfying use of your time. Lena and Steve have done so much work on their online sessions and hub to keep us going until we can all meet again at the gym. ️‍️

I’ve had gym memberships in the past but NOTHING compares to the classes, the support, sense of community and value I get from going to The Training Room. It was a tough transition to make because strength and conditioning type classes were completely outside my comfort zone but it’s the sense of community and SUPPORT from members as well as support from Lena + Steve that kept me coming back to the Monday morning Powerhouse session and the Thursday morning Box and burn. Another thing that sets The Training Room apart from other gyms/group classes are the resources (blog posts, workshops, podcast content) they create to empower you and guide you when it comes to setting and pursuing goals. They CARE about their members.
Couldn’t speak more highly of the Training Room. You guys have done such an incredible job with it.

The training room is where i learnt that its okay to be new at something. Steve had me looking like a pro bunching the pads and setting me up with some key fundamental skills i will never forget. I went to ttrg to learn a new skill because i was fearful and angry which started my love of kick boxing! Lena the wife of Steve Moxon taught me consistency and how to be the first. Be the first to start the reps even if u are the last to complete them. She also taught me what it truly means to lift a weight! Love them and in turn helped me love myself from the inside out!
