The Thornbury Theatre reviews
53 The place is absolutely magnificent! I went there with a friend last night for the Los Bitchos concert, it was really good. The security and door staff were very helpful and very friendly. That said, I only give it a 4 star rating for the simple fact that one of the bartenders was impressively rude! The first time he served me, I said to myself that maybe it was a mistake, but the second time anyway.
Otherwise great place!
Different days, different music.
Something for everyone.
The Taphouse downstairs a great place for dinner and drinks before the show.
Parking not great but train and trams out front.
It's a beautiful setting. Seats very close together, though, and could have been more comfortable. After 5 shows over 3 days, the seating felt a little hard. Performances were excellent.
Awesome! Except one bartender had the personality of a piece of drift wood, other than that great food.
Nice theatre. However, the bathrooms are disgusting and need a serious upgrade so that aven basic flushing of waste is possible.
This place is great to view a band BUT. The 2 servers that are behind the bar upstairs are in the wrong game. In particular the girl with the green in her hair has one of the poorest attitudes towards customers I've witnessed. Every person from my table and others that came back with a drink asked me if I was unfortunate enough to be served by her. They all commented the night was tarnished by the bar service. If you hate your job, find another away from customer service. Don't bring the venue down with you.
Watched Chris Connor Elvis show at this venue. What a pleasant surprise. The show itself was great as was expected. The venue is a gem. Staff are very friendly and this end of High Street has a lot to offer. Will definitely go back for more events.
We were very lucky to find a parking spot close by.
The venue's seating leaves no good impression.ordinary flimsy, dirty chairs that has seen better days!
Some chairs has bent legs that could snap anytime!
The inside of theatre was pretty and there is at least a lift to the first floor BUT ladies toilets still has a few steps to climb!
Although we thoroughly enjoyed Chris Connor as Elvis he was amazing ; the venue let it down.
Firstly we were allocated A1 and A 2 seats which you would think would be amazing seats right … wrong, they were so far left of the side of the stage that the view of the musicians key board and stage itself was the dominant view.
Then to have to wait 20 minutes for a chair which was missing (A1) to arrive after a very disgruntled foul mouthed organiser - with zero apology when we finally were given the missing chair.
Topped off by the toilets - ladies toilets had 2 blocked toilets and 2 toilets with no tp.
On requesting more tp a lady was told by said disgruntled organiser - she would have to wait as he was “busy”…
Thank goodness we loved the performer. I would never attend this venue again.
The Thornbury Theatre is a beautiful old building. The seat were just a little uncomfortable. The staff were friendly.
But the singer Chris Connor was awesome. And the Comedian was brilliant. He made me laugh.
Funky place to have a reception event. Good food. Was difficult to get a drink at times given the small bar
Saw Casey Donovan who was fabulous. Lovely theatre but the chairs were too close together, especially in the current covid climate. I had been there before where they had tables set up which was much better
Just ok. Came here to watch Circus Quirkus. The place looks old and run down but the toilets were clean. One thing that bothered me the most was this venue is not really accessible despite the wheelchair lift. Several patrons using wheelchairs were waiting downstairs because the lift naturally could only take one person at a time and it was slow. The show had already started and was running for around 15 minutes and there were around 8 people still waiting downstairs to be taken up. A saw a couple give up and decided not to watch the show. Not my place to say they should build a ramp, but maybe they should.
The Thornbury Theatre is an exceptional place for good food, welcoming ambience and ever entertaining shows. Overall and always pleasant experiences. Good Luck. #thethornburytheatre
Its an exceptionally awesome place to visit. Recently I visited one of the events and i was very happy with the ambience. Absolutely amazing.
I went their Thursday night great night out free entry friendly crowd, so if you you want to become a member you get cheaper drinks
Thursday nights blues night, also they have a pool table older crowd.
I'm going 21st July
So l will you there.
Beautiful repainted old small theatre. Watched a band with a bar as an option.toilets are upstairs n down stairs.
The most Disorganised event ever. Not enough seating for patrons. For the cost of the tickets for the Elvis show was just not worth attending to be left standing to not enjoy the show
Lovely! Though unfortunate the female toilets on second floor aren't wheelchair accessible
Elvis Big Band show. Poorly organised. Show was supposedly sold out. Allocated seating wasn't available. People who came late were left standing and more chairs had to be brought out for them and the seats were placed in front of VIP patrons. Which was unfair. Worse was when people started to stand around in front of the stage therefore blocking the view of those who were seated.
