Really a god send when you are down and out. I thank these guys so much. And the food is always good. Without place's like this there would be no hope for the homeless and hungry.
The Salvation Army's project 614 is such a great service to homeless and needy people. They are serving breakfast, lunch and dinner for the needy and also provide washrooms, clothing, mental health support through govt. It's been great pleasure volunteering with the Salvos team. I enjoyed being part of their breakfast and lunch food serving sessions along with centerlink, NAB and police teams. They have been doing thid since 2011 with support from MagPie Nest, 7Eleven, Coles and other donors support. They need plenty of volunteers and donations to keep this amazing work going. I highly recommend this place to everyone to contribute thier time to give back to community.
The salvation army has helped me, or tried to help me throughout my life on many occasions.
They have never asked for a cent, except when I went to "the basin", drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre in a suburb in the far east of Melbourne, named The Basin.
Even then all they asked for was a percentage of my Centrelink payment whilst I was there.
VERY REASONABLE AMD GENEROUS.
I will never forget!
How could you guys lose so much money that quick you guys were doing so well in the past making lunch and dinner for people can't you guys get someone to help you guys get back on track to where you guys were in the past you can ask a big charity organisation to help you guys etc like big umbrella
Too many wealthy Chinese elderly dressing down lining up twice with shopping trolleys to get free stuff. Young city dweller Penthouse set all these people had the latest iPhones BTW. Homeless in the city unaware of the services. Should implement a disco back of hand stamp on the people in the line up to prevent double dipping. Some going through QR Codes then coming back for manual check-in. Genuine partakers grateful but shocked by the opportunists.
The staff are nice people, but there are some very rude, dodgy customers. Some of the dodgy customers literally didn't know how to control their emotions and they were yelling for food, attention or whatever weird thing they wanted like they were infants. If you need a cheap place to eat I suggest you go to some cheap vegetarian restaurants in Melbourne.
Serving food to us homeless people even though the whole city is in lockdown. That's dedication.
Love Pheobie so understanding and helpful she found accommodation for me in the middle off the HARD LOCK DOWN IN MELBOURNE GOT MY PITTY REGISTERED FOR ME THANKS PHEOBIE
Great place to go for a feed lovely people and great help well done guys and thank you for you're support
Salvos. Says it all really. I could never really criticise them. Whenever I've needed them, they've always come through for me.
Keep up the good work Sally's. God knows we need all the help we can get, at the moment.
I have idea if Kat still works there but she was really lovely, given my situation and it was her duty to keep everybody safe there, very greatful to her.
WARNING: DO NOT DONATE MONEY TO THIS CHARITY.
I sent a email to the Salvation Army as I wanted to organize food for the homeless around the Victoria Street, Richmond area asking for advise and assistance on how to manage this as i was financing everything.
I did not get a response which I thought was strange.
I then sent another email saying that I had tens of thousands of dollars to donate.
Now the phone has not stopped ringing and i get emails on a daily basis.
This has just confirmed what I already knew.
All cash donations do not go to the homeless or the people in need.
The cash donations go into the pockets of the people running this charity.
DO NOT DONATE CASH TO THIS CHARITY
Very nice place to go and have free coffee and tea and breakfast and lunch and dinner and free showers
I love the set up of what Salvation have to offer the homeless. Warm with hot soup and help always available
Fab, the help is wanting to help your self.they can only do with what they have in donations, kindness is caring.
Do not go if you want to sleep or preserve life or if we want to sleep. This place isn't most dangerous place in Melbourne. Do not go near there or you will be jumped on for money or cigarettes. I would say it is equivalent to Kings Cross in Sydney. Enter at your own risk
Great place to come for any kind of help an the people here are so nice an kind
THANKS HEAPS GUYS
Stepped outside because we were sneezing from the dust, we were told we weren't allowed to sit on a bench outside before going back in, so we went and sat on the steps and were promptly shooed off with a broom. Decided we wouldn't be supporting this particular shop because of being talked to and treated very rudely, please keep in mind that /we/ are your customers.
Three square healthy meals a day for the homeless. This place look so incredible, even has a free 7/11 coffee machine
