The Rusty Owl / Bark n’ Beans reviews
29 Woeful. 1 star is too much for this place.very cold as front door was wide open, tables where not cleared after people left, staff member on lunch break I presumed, came and sat at the table next to us eating a box of Savoy Biscuits with a tub of Coles tzatziki dip. A long 40 min wait for food. I chose the healthy bowl which was suppose to have roast veges, feta, dukka.it was a disappointing bowl of grean beans.sooo many beans.it came with 2 small pieces of zucchini,
2 small pieces of corn (still on the cob), 3 small pieces of cold sad avocado and 3 small stems of broccoli, salt and pepper (sad excuse for dukkah) Was completely tasteless. Im sure it was all frozen veg I was so hungry I ate half the bowl and left feeling empty, cold and sad, my daughter's meal was also very sad but you can read her review for that! Please don't waste your time as we did or your money!
Atmosphere was super cold and there were dirty plates on almost every table. The food was very disappointing for how long we had to wait. My halloumi “bruschetta” was so chewy and hard and overall bland besides the chorizo sausage. The healthy bowl that was meant to have roast veg as well as feta, dukkah and so on was a joke. Its only redeeming quality was the poached egg that was cooked well. The beans (that were the entire bowl at this point) were soggy and had no flavour, looked like a frozen packet from the supermarket. There was no substance to the meal at all which was a shame. Maybe the chef was having a bad day (hopefully)
Best cafe in Mooroolbark! The chilli scrambled eggs and pulled pork is a great option if you’re after a hearty breakfast
Stopped in for brunch on a busy Sunday and was thankful to be able to get a table fairly swiftly after trying a few other local cafes who were booked out.
The coffee was okay but weak and lacked any latte art.
Unfortunately the service was inattentive even when the cafe was quieter (apart from one lovely staff member)
The food was beautifully presented but quite bland and unbalanced for the price.
A bit more staff training and a focus on quality local ingredients would help improve.
Thankyou.
Food took ages to be ready! Menu said eggS in plural and it came with only one.i paid for my bf meal and when we came back home he had to cook is meal again bc he was still hungry.my meal was good tho
Food is great! Served with really nice presentation. Coffee great too. Is one of the best in area.
Amazing coffee, yummy food, and lovely friendly staff. Will be going back and making this my local go-to.
Great coffee, friendly service, delicious brekkie wrap and a nice clean, fresh atmosphere! Thank you
The food is amazing, the service is friendly and the food comes out fast. What else could you want in a Cafe? 5 stars!
Sweet little Cafe with friendly staff. Coffee & food was delicious & well priced.
Unfortunately I Only gave 4 stars as the seating is quite uncomfortable, & as much as the staff member had an amazing voice (truth!) I was hoping for a quiet moment to have breakfast and her singing was off-putting.
Stopped by for brunch. Great service. Beautiful coffee. Both of us commented on how good the smoked salmon bagel was. The flourless lemon cake was fresh and a delicious way to end. Happy to recommend.
The coffee isn't great but the food was beautifully presented! Good portions and tasty. Though it did take a long time to come out. Would recommend ordering ahead.
I wish I could give zero or minus stars!
Will never go back to this cafe.
Unprofessional service and disgusting food!
What a great place! Food is delicious and great value too. Plus they have a small kids corner with a good variety of toys. Kept our son busy while we waited for food.
I was too hungry to take photos but the side of chips were proper thick cut chips and the bacon/egg/hash brown wrap was great.
Great service, coffee and environment. Totally recommend this place. Definitely will be back for more.
Nice spot for a good coffee, food very good and staff and service excellent. Happy to recommend it.
Food is excellent and the staff are friendly. Nice place to have a coffee. Will recommend to other friends!
I had a really nice coffee here but the hct toastie was really poor. Cheap bread, squashed and overcooked. Same price as other places nearby aswell. Don't understand why it was such low quality.: (
Has great coffee. The only thing that i would complain about is the seating. Very hard bench seats to sit on, no support for your back. Otherwise great food and coffee. We will be back
Awesome atmosphere, great service, unfortunately some customers order ridiculous things that nobody has ever heard of and manage their time so poorly that they miss their trains and the staff STILL go out of their way to provide excellent service. I have to say that anyone in their right mind in Melbourne might rethink ordering a coffee 3 minutes before a train is due and would further argue, it would be negligent to blame a cafe when the train was at the platform. Awesome cafe, awesome staff, mostly awesome customers. Get in here and try the French toast and be nice to your barista
